Hours and hours of fun, wonder what happened to it? Actually I suspect it got removed on the quiet due to the amount of small metal cars being launched at various targets.

I like the thinking, the geo looks reasonable, spec is good. Ideal trail centre bike?

Epic fail here, never mind, I do spend too much on bikes though. Probably should try and manage my obsession/addiction a little better.

I don’t think this a go at 4wd owners in general, just all the school run mums and other idiots in their Cayennes, RR Sports, X5s etc. Least thats the way I see it. I don’t begrudge anyone who and their stupidly wide tarmac biased tyres are worse than many normal saloons in this weather. Trouble is most of them seem to drive like 4wd makes them invincible.
Good on you dazzlingboy, karma points in the bag.

Katich out for rest of the series. Well I guess that levels things up again.
    Who’ll replace him though?

    Haddin gone for 12, 286-6. C’mon England.

Don’t normally ‘get’ cricket, but for some reason this Ashes series has raised my interest.

I’d say it probably depends very much on where you live. My shop doesn’t sell many mountain bikes full stop, so its mainly road bikes.
You don’t say where abouts you are, but I know the local shops who do sell MTBs round here have about 50/50 full sus/hardtails.

Met office predicts -7 for Chelt tonight. Sounds positively tropical compared to some of you guys. Looks like it might warm up for the weekend though, positive temps!

Shame your after 30.9 seatpost else I’d say the Prophet. You could always sell your current post, go for good money and buy a 27.2 KS post?

Rock Shox Monarch is supposed to be very nearly as good as the Fox. I’m about to order up a Monarch for my Prophet, just unsure about compression tunes.

Do remember that the vertical is stupidly small for a 2.3″ tyre. In fact I’d say its no where near it. Try one if you can.

Oakley are bloody pricey for riding glasses, but you can get prescription lenses fitted.

Mine has been great, Vauxhall Combo 1.7d, not got enough power to pull the skin off a rice pudding, which probably helps. Big thing is probably if the van is either front or rear wheel drive and if its got enough weight on the driven wheels to get through the snow. mud/snow tyres will help massively on any car/van though.

Stoner – wish I’d known about the Nags Head earlier, cracking ride over the Malvern Hills today, would of been nice to round it off with a choice beer.

I invite you to check out the Jolly Brewmaster in Cheltenham. 7 or 8 ales and 3-4 ciders on tap with regular changes, nice beer garden, let me and my mates in after muddy rides and you couldn’t call the place snobby, just look at the decor!

Say what you like about Clarkson but he narrates a great documentary well
    FTFY

Maybe I should fix that for you, end credits ‘Written and Presented By Jeremy Clarkson
Actually, I think this is the sort of thing that Clarkson does so well, his ‘Great Britons’ on Brunel was superb too. He’s just lucky enough to get paid for arsing around as well.

andrewh – if thats real, that really is genius.

Super Caley go ballistic. Celtic are atrocious.

I think this has passed into football folklore, whoever came up with that should receive a knighthood, or at least a raise.

Either bald or not, think 1 is that funny halfwya, either cut it all of or don’t. I go grade2, but I do have dark thick hair that looks longer than it actually is.

Park crown race removal tool, any decent shop should have one. I had a trek full carbon road fork to do the other day and was very glad to have that bit of kit.

Can’t believe no one has suggested Whyte 905/1 or 19 dependent on budget. Amazing reviews.

Trek 1.2, £200. First proper road bike for a very long time. Been good to me so far and helped me set a sub 26min 10m TT on my first attempt.

Went out for a ride in the 1/2″ of snow we’ve had. Was bloody good fun drifting around the woods. Did get some funny looks on the way back into town. Supposed to get some more tonight, believe that when I see it.
My brother sent me a photo of his car earlier as he’s been posted up near Edinburgh for a bit. Got a good covering, but I’m sure he’ll survive.

Just for a change I’m not called rich, but I’m definitely a bike/parts buying addict. Its got even worse since I started working in the bike trade. All this shiny metal and carbon lying around is really hurting!

Just ordered myself a new road bike. Which means the old one becomes the winter bike, least that was the logic I sold it to myself on. Goes nicely with the DH bike, the 5″ full susser and the jump bike. Need a pub hack though………….

It shouldn’t matter. And if my LBS had bikes at 50% off then maybe i would consider it. But they don’t the fact is they still have frames from years ago at top dollar!

See the problem is your LBS is probably quite a small shop and doesn’t enjoy the same margins as the likes of Wiggle and CRC. I work for one such shop and unlike the big chains/online retailers, we just can not afford to lop huge chunks off the RRP at the end of the season or we’d end up out of pocket. If we did, we wouldn’t be there when you need that brake cable at 12:30pm Saturday lunchtime.
Oh and I can’t vouch for your LBS, but we do fully PDI every bike, they only leave the shop fully assembled and you get a free 6 week service/checkup.
I understand you want to get the most for your money, but thats the way the trade is. I’d also say if you have so little faith in your local shops, tell them. The small guys can’t afford to ignore customers and will probably appreciate a bit of feedback.

Wow theres some serious bitching going on in this thread. I have learnt something though. Bolton has got a crescent ala Bath. Don’t know about which was first, but Royal Crescent is a World Heritage Site like Stonehenge isn’t it?

In reference to Scotland’s independence, as far as I can tell, the Scots are welcome to it. If this makes me a ‘little Englander’ then so be it. I don’t think it’ll make a drop of difference to my life. Of course, it’ll never happen, the Union is so ingrained into the Scots, English and the Welsh that its just not possible to gain full independence. Within my lifetime at least.

I love the E30, finding a good one now is tricky and a good M3 is starting to look like an investment.
