I’m down for 1,2 and 5. Looking forward to it hugely. Got booked up on those asap. Was hoping to do the Eastridge one as well, but work commitments get in the way.

Glad to be of help TSY, good to meet you and hope you enjoyed the rest of your ride. Got to say I was jealous as being at work today with such fine weather outside.

Some ‘amazing’ refereeing decisions in all of this weekends games, but on the whole I think they evened out. Fair play to the Scots, they took the game to England and made them work for it. Contested every breakdown. Made for a scrappy game, not particularly appealing to watch, but thats the nature of the game.
Really happy to see the Italians beat someone other than Scotland too, does the STW rugby collective think Lievremont might be in trouble after this years tournament?

You need to look at the Cane Creek range. I have a similar set up to what you describe, but with a straight 1 1/8th steerer. You can get the bottom in either 1.5 or 1 1/8th.

Random volume hubs. I’ve had loud ProIIs and much quieter ones. But they’ve all been great quality. I love the fact that they’re fully servicable, all the bits are available and they’re made in England.
Had some old M4s, useless, couldn’t get them to behave. Not tried the brakes since. Too much cost when I can have super reliable Shimano for far less. Not tried anything else, but the BB’s are on the list.

VX220 for me. I prefer the looks and the engines. I believe the Vauxhall was a little more friendly on the limit too due to its slightly larger track and wheelbase. Though offered a Elise with a Honda VTEC conversion I could be persuaded.
I do know at my height I couldn’t really drive either for any decent distance. I’ve sat in both and the only way I could get a good view out was by slouching down.

Just gone 1×9. 34t up front. Only one ride so far, but love how quiet it is. Wait to see how I fair on some of the tougher local climbs. Couple of mates run this setup locally and apparently first couple of weeks were just pain, but much easier since and wouldn’t run it any other way.

You could do that without breaking a sweat on the Gloucester side of the river. If you start at The Anchor pub at Epney and then using the back roads up through Longney and you’ll catch it again at Stonebench where the river narrows up quite a bit and should have pushed the wave up a couple of feet too.

Jonny T, how many people have crossed as many disciplines has him with his level of success. He may not have been an amazing road racer, but good enough to hold his own with the big names.

Got a 17-ish mile up and down road ride to work. Its all fast open roads so a road bike is the preferred tool.
So with that in mind, I’ll have something like that Pearson, would need full guards, panniers and disc brakes.
If it was all in town, something with 26″ wheels, singlespeed and would need to be good fun just hacking around on it. And preferably stealthy enough not to get nicked.

Definite suspension/ban there, no questions. If the FA don’t do something about it, it’ll just prove how bent and corrupt top flight football is.

At this time of night? Where from? It’d probably help if I knew what width bars Ms.DirtyG had already too.

my back hurts after using the drops

Might want to think about some narrower bars then.

On-line dating is a lottery, but can’t fault it for meeting people. Definitely one way to cast a wider net, but getting bored and frustrated with it. Might take it out on the turbo for an hour or so.

Mmm cheltenham and county, 20+ riders on a ride up I’m cranham ain’t too good for cheeky trail riding…

I’d love to see your idea of 20 people!
I’ve been a county member a good few years now, I’m pretty sure we’ve only ever had that many people on a club ride on one of our FoD outings! Certainly not on a regular Saturday morning.Stop stirring.

Its been suggested to try and arrange a meeting with the landowner and try and put the positives across of what we do. Any ideas how we might make contact? And preferably not just running into him out on the trail. Its probably not a good start when covered in mud and sweat, even if its your sunday best pair of baggies. 😉

You wont go too far wrong with any of the major brands. Not much to choose from in terms of ride and component choices. Keep an eye out for a deal and you might get a nice upgrade though.

LBS can still compete with CRC on cost if they get their business model right

If your at all familiar with the trade, you will know thats not really possible. Just on the basic range of shimano kit, CRC are selling it at prices only just above what your LBS can buy it in for. But you are completely right, that the LBS and CRC offer two different services and the LBS has to realise that and go with it. Customer service is the best weapon they have.

Record, Longest Distance Covered on a Single Standard Tank of Fuel

    Peugeot 406 HDi Diesel

2,348.3 km’s covered in 36 hours, on less than a standard tank of fuel from Melbourne to Rockhampton Australia

I know its the HDI and it being Aus, I’ll bet the driver never had to change throttle use.
But it shows what the 406 can do. Theres a good chance that your car does have a fault of some kind, but I have to ask, how do you drive it? Lots of traffic, stop start driving? High speed driving, motorways etc?
Basically, leave off the brakes, coast in gear, try and anticipate further down the road, and don’t change your throttle loading. One of the biggest savings is to be had from keeping a steady throttle. Always used to add a a couple of MPG on the computer of the ex’s Clio when I drove it, mainly because she was incapable of keep her foot steady!
Not suggesting your aren’t already trying this things, but I used to get 50+ out of my old 306 Dturbo quite easily.

surely even you must admit some of the new X5’s are rather tasty ??

Good grief no! Next you’ll be telling me the X6 is rather nice too! X5/6, Q7 and Cayenne are archetypal Chelsea tractors. Nothing classy about any of them.

A bloke I do road rides with has one, has it on all the time. Can’t fault the brightness and the pulsing light is a real attention grabber. Seriously considering one myself on that evidence.

Basing on the performance of my Revs, the Sektors should be ace. Have a good hunt around though, I got my Revs for a steal.

Excellent news for your dad and the family.
As for the car, I’d probably go for the Tiguan. The Audi is just too bling and costly for my liking (is it not just the VW in a frock?), plus it’ll always look like you wish you could afford a Q7. As for the Landy, well its a Landy and I don’t know what the reliability is like of the current cars, but I’d still wager the VAG cars being far better on that front.

Got to say its down to either the French or English to win it now. Roll on the 26th, potentially a great game.

Do it, I wish I still had my dog. Got her from the Dogs Trust who I can highly recommend. Didn’t take much training, super friendly and such a character. Loved going biking too, gets super excited whenever I get the bike out.

Gutted I had to give her up when me and my ex broke up. But quite lucky that the ex’s parents were more than happy to take her on and she gets as much love and attention. Really wish I could of kept her all the same.

I think some people here are missing the point of a VW sports car with a diesel. Just think about the average buyer of this type of car and the type of driving they actually do. The words ‘sunday’ and ‘driver’ spring to mind.
For the majority of people who will buy a car like this, a current diesel will serve their needs pretty damn well.
I also think half the people in this thread who are knocking the concept, haven’t actually driven a current generation diesel engine.

Is this the VW BlueSport that they punted round the shows last year? Quite like the sound of a 1000kg car with 300lb/ft of torque.

Binners – similar situation myself, but a couple months further down the line. Slowly getting used to being single again. It does get easier with time. I’m giving myself a target, something to focus on. Keeps my mind off other things. So I’ve booked myself in for 3 of them gravity enduros and at least a weeks riding in the Alps, possibly even the Mega. Least now I can go bugger off for a week or so in the Alps riding bikes and not feel guilty about leaving someone behind.

Such energy needs somewhere to go

I find riding a bike is a pretty good place to release such energy.
