I think aracer actually needs to go ride these bikes, working in the trade means I’ve test ridden quite a few bikes over the years. The last generation of aero bikes were a lot stiffer than their endurance or conventional race frame stable mates.
Ive ridden the older Scott Foil, Spec Venge and Ridley Noah Fast in recent months and I wouldn’t want to do big distances on any of them (not in this country at any rate). The Noah Fast was so harsh, I reckon you could tell what day of the week the tarmac was laid. But I could see why Griepel used it, stiff as a stiff thing when you got on the gas, brakes were appalling though!
The new Noah SL and Canyon Aeromax are a lot better and I can imagine doing a days ride on those worth too many issues.

I’d take a look at the setup of Affy’s bike. If he’s been the driving force in development then surely it’s going to based somewhere close to it. 160mm fork and 35mm stem. I like the look of these and would go XL everytime (I’m 6ft3).

I’d argue for the opposite to the OP. I’m 6ft3, my Nukeproof mega is built with a Ragley stem as its one of the lowest stack stems I could find, I’d go lower if I could but its on a flat top cap as it is. My Ridley road bike is the same, got a 10deg drop stem flat on the top cap to get it as low as I’d like it. How anyone can ride a specialised roubaix/secteur I don’t know, the headtubes are ridiculously over long for the frame sizes.

    1) SLX double works great
    2) & 3) Front derailleur will work fine if you wind the lower limit screw in, I’ve done that on a few occasions with shimano and see no reason why the SRAM should be any different.

Awesome, just a shame the soundtrack is more Briggs & Stratton.

Is both chain and cassette only 1700 miles old? If both same age, next thing I’d check is the gear hanger.
One last thing, you say 11 speed 105, the pull of the rear derailleur is different between long and short cage versions so the cable clamps differently, might be worth double checking that. Short cage is over the top of the bolt, long cage is on the lower side.

Pretty much goes with my experience of dealing with them on such matters. Arranging bike pick up etc, ended up being nearly 2 months between bike drop off and returning to the customer.

Unless you want mapping, have a look at the edge 20 and 25. The 20 is suitably small and already online for less than a hundred.

This is the sort of thing I use the moneysavingexpert.com website for. Got the best deal for my Euros using their search tool. I expect it’ll point you in the right direction for this transaction too.

I was looking at one of these frames to upgrade my hack bike, but lack of bottles cage bosses and apparently rack mounts mean its off the list. Inbred seems like best bet currently and a bargain price.

Use in warm weather, anything over an hour. Stops the late night cramps feel better for longer. No replacment for food though but then they don’t claim to be. That’s what the ‘fuel’ type drinks are for, but then I had rather have some proper food then.

Still think the slate is going to struggle with the lack of tyre options.

2004 Spec Enduro Comp with Manitou Sherman firefly fork. 125mm travel was and still is all that’s needed for most UK riding.

I went to school with Fred West’s daughter. Thought we hadn’t seen her for while when that story broke.
Earlier this year a young lad pretty much had his head cut off outside my old local pub. linky

35-45 mins in the car each way or an hour and a bit on the bike either way. Sometimes leave the car at work and ride home, always nice to take a spin after a long day.

Are those 11 speed road shifters with a mountain bike rear mech? How does that work?

Never mind that, campagnolo shifters and shimano rear mech! I wasn’t aware that was even possible.

I would go with the 1.3 CDTi if there’s a choice. Had one for the last 4 years or so. Went to numerous races and events in it, slept in it and it was brilliant. Clocked up 35k in it, used and abused, serviced once a year, 50+mpg and surprisingly pokey with it. People were always surprised when you told them it was only a 1.3

Read it for GCSE, I remember enjoying the book but not so keen on all the analysis that went with it.

Well and truly inspired, just spent the last couple of days working my through this thread, checking a few links and reading a couple of blogs. I proceeded to spend half my day looking at bivi bags online and looking at maps for potential locations for test runs. Thanks guys.

Type A, ride everyday if possible, ride pretty much all types, always looking at the next N+1, and if that’s not enough I even work in the industry. Obsessed? Maybe.

Its great to have Gwin up there challenging Gee and Greg. I hope he can keep the consistency up.
I certainly wouldn’t write Hill off just yet, but he has said before that he puts more value on World Champs than the World Cup. On that basis, I’d say he’s playing it safe with a view to the World Champs this year being on the kind of track that has his name written all over it.
Gutted for Brendog this year, he’s taken his training up a level over the winter and was looking super quick, just had an unlucky crash at SA. I hope I’m wrong, but I think that has as good as written his season off.
Danny Hart has stepped it up big time, always looks like he’s on the verge of the biggest crash ever. Lets hope it never happens.
There’s also a whole load of super talented riders waiting to upset the podium, just like Brook last weekend.
Its shaping up to be an amazing season and I can’t wait to see the rest of the season.

Another fantastic weekends riding and racing. Disappointed that I won’t be able to make Inners, but looking forward to the other two rounds.
Good weather on the Sunday helped, loved stage 1, even with the diversion. Only one I didn’t really enjoy was stage 2 and that was down to that surface as much as anything.
Great work Steve, see you at Eastridge.

Just wondered if anyone else had heard seen anything more on this since this thread?
Only asking because I got my first encounter with one of the landowners today. Definitely came across as ‘Get off my land’ and spent the entire conversation talking down her nose at us.
A bit ‘considerably richer than yow’.

Just got mine from the States this morning. Went for the X-fusion as its for my Prophet and that is a 27.2 post, like the lack of the reservoir ala KS. Didn’t come with any instructions (google is a wonderful thing), but I did get the remote included. Fitted it, not had a chance to take it for a test ride, but going to GT over the weekend so that should be a good test.
Nice action, but a bit squeaky around the seal. Going to apply some slippy stuff under the lip of the seal and see how it does.

Specialized SX Trail is probably the bike for this kind of riding. No need for a full on DH bike unless your actually racing every other weekend. None of them pedal particularly well compared to say a Nomad. Its horses for courses. Theres a whole raft of new 180mm travel bikes that’ll be better suited for it, new Genius LT looks a very interesting proposition.

*Waves at Tollah* hey, hows the brakes?
I was there as a ride marshall for the first half and then sweeper marshall for the 2nd half of the 100k. Quite sunburnt now. Think the Snowshill loop would have been far better the other way around, but knowing the slightly odd nature (sadistic perhaps) of the guy responsible for the route, its no less than I would of expected.
A large amount of circus bikes out there, but thats one of things I like about events like this, everyone out there, just riding bikes wether they were ‘cross bikes, singlespeed 29ers or 160mm travel bikes that would be better suited to the Alps.
I will say, I think if I ride it again I might add a couple of chainrings back on. 34t 1×9 nearly broke me towards the end!

I want to slap Scott Mills round the face for “actual whoever off of actual whatever”.
The annoying thing is, I think he started it trying to be ironic but its stuck now.

I’ve been an orange customer for a few years now, and this last 6 months or so has been a farce for one reason or another. But the signal dropping, call dropping and various other connection problems I’ve had recently are getting tiring, and thats at various spots around the country. Are the other networks any better?

Saw a couple of Hares boxing in a field on my commute to work the other morning, also nearly crashed into one on the road bike this evening as it ran across the road in front of me.

Shimano still make stuff for 6 and 7 speed, I wouldn’t worry just yet.

They only make scuffing noises if you don’t set them up properly. Hopefully the UCI will allow disc brakes for road bikes soon, and then I think we’ll see some massive leaps in power and weight.

Yeah 100mm forks on the SL is a bit odd. But that old enduro is just plain minging. Shame I loved them old Enduros. Its never a 2007 either lol.

Best way to bed pads in is just done on a flat road. Bring the bike up to speed quickly, then perform an emergency stop. Repeat 4-5 times. This should help bed them in nicely. Scienceofficer has pretty much filled in all the gaps.
