Quite funny, not really news though is it?
That camera man was well on it, I have difficulty believing someone took that picture from the ground, just on the basis of the speed of a Tornado.

Probably 'Follow Me' from Anthill Films, but I think, the real interesting one is Life Cycles, which is being released later in the year. I've been completely taken by the hype on this one.

    Santa Cruz Heckler
    Santa cruz VP-free
    Specialized P2
    Trek 1.2

Having just been given the elbow, I can see this number increasing now. Getting quite in to doing TTs at the moment.

I find the recommended pressures to be miles off, searching MTBR will give you some good info, just for the record, I run my 2010 Rev Races with about 85-90psi in the positive and 80-85 in the negative and i'm around 12.5stone.
Best thing is just fiddle until your happy, and don't run more pressure in the negative than the positive as it pulls the fork down.

Stinger has been great for me, but I would agree on Rush cycles, seems they need a bit of encouragement. Won't be bothering with them again tbh.

Too much compression damping on the forks? learning to relax is main one though.

Not on a 5, its on a Santa Cruz heckler, 68mm shell. But I run Shimano Hone cranks with the blackspire stinger guide and it works fine. I've got the BB mounted version and it sits between the bb spacer and the frame. Works great. I'll get a pic if you want?

Just too smooth for my liking, great facilities, but trails were sterile. Actually looked forward to some of the braking bumps! No great desire to go back soon.

Interesting this thread has just popped up, I done my first one last week. My club has most those characters as well. I'm very happy with the results of my first time, but any recommendations on improving my time? Can't afford/justify a dedicated TT bike just yet.

Got them on my old shimanos, and night and day difference so got them for my XTs on the DH bike. I can't say for other brakes, but the older shimano in my opinion are a must.

well, blowing my own trumpet, you'll know what year frame it is and I ordered it in that colour, and its always had the white forks on it (Marz Z1 lights before), the rims have been on there a year now. I like to think I was ahead of the game 😛

what? I like it, anyway its a dirty, muddy brown colour most the time.

At the moment, I love Maxxis Crossmark on the back with an Ardent front. Know a few people running the Crossmarks front and back.

    I think I remember Peaty's v10 having something like 160f 140r last season.

    He's a big guy…
That was purely for world champs, where every one was trying to drop as much weight as possible for the sprint that was half the track. Not to mention Peaty is a superhero and can therefore get away with such things.
Personally I run a 180mm front and 160mm rear on my AM build Heckler. Used to run a 200mm front, but dropped that when the bike went on a diet. I miss the power, but for most the time it was overkill. As far as I can tell theres little to choose besides the power and weight. I've been running the same brakes for over 5 years and biggest difference to power/wearing/bedding in time is the pads. If you like the power, put on the 200mm rotors, concerned about weight and don't do the big descents go smaller rotors.

I bought a set of new Candys about 18months ago, I've just recently done the service/rebuild on them, mainly beacuse I thought it was about time rather than they needed it. so 12months in my experience should be fine.

I love the CB pedals and started on the same Smarty pedals as you. These pedals are OE only and do have a limited life span. A step up to the Candys or Acids is recommended if you like the CB float and use.

Well, don't know where I fit in, I ride road for a bit of extra fitness and mtb because its fun. Nearly all my rides involve a pint or cake somewhere along the way, sometimes both. I don't think you can really say its 'them and us' thing (I can think of cases on both sides of the knobbly/slicks fence that'd rather have a gel than cake). Some people just choose to follow their chosen hobby very seriously, imho, each to their own. My point of view is so long as you enjoy it, then do whatever makes you happy. Just don't expect the restof us to get it.

Got to be the 1" rise, I ran those for a couple of years. decided to go up on the width and now running a pair of Sunline V3, 20mm rise and 710mm wide. Think it'll probably be Easton Havocs next time, just like that classic easton profile.

I'd highly recommend the shimanos, love my old deores, fault free for more than 5 years. From everything I've read the new SLXs should be as good. That deal from ribble above is great, got to be worth a go.
On a lot more expensive note, I've recently tried a pair of Formula RX1s and they had incredible feel and power on 180mm rotors. Easily the best brakes I've tried in a long time.

Dependant on conditions, but Maxxis Minnion is the best all round, use the DH-F on both front and back as its much quicker rolling than a Minnion DH-R, copes with mud well, but still quick in the dry. I'd also recommend you go for super tacky 42a compound, as the 60a is just too hard for cornering, roots and all the rest of it.
If your happy swapping tyres, then go for high rollers or ardent in the dry and swampthing in the damp, and for properly minging muddy days go for the wet screams.

Well if your going there.. Gordon the Gopher!

Can't believe no one has said Purple Ano yet!!
I know someone said Conti Vertical Pro/folding already, but hell yes. Why Conti stopped making these I'll never know.

Some quite 'funny' lines there, my van has got the steel mesh window covers and clear windows. Never leave anything in the van, seems to be fine so far. Mate of mine had his company van (no tools stickers, etc) completely done over looking for the bikes they thought he'd left inside (didn't bother with all his tools)but crowbar'd the doors open, bent the surrounding panels and the doors. Wasn't far off a write off from what I was told.

The mags are raving about the 120mm travel Ghost bike, but I've not seen any reviews for any other bikes in the range. Are they new to the UK this year?

Was a superb line, the others just didn't see it coming. Shame Affy got pushed out so early on, he was flying in practice.

Doesn't make a difference, as new the OE paper filters give better air flow and more power/torque/economy. But the paper filters clog up sooner than the equivalent K&N type filters, which to my mind means they probably allow more rubbish through in the first place. The one big saving grace of the reusable filters is the fact you can reuse them – less landfill, but still need cleaning every 6k miles or so.

My comments are based on a magazine test I saw some years ago. Things might have changed since then.

I've got an '07 heckler, its fab, but the slightly lower BB and slacker HA of the 5 really appeals. I bought the Heckler because it seems more geared up for some heavy duty abuse. Certainly its put up with my many repeated DH runs and short landings on some very sizable jumps.

Don't really know about the Iphone, but I wasn't prepared to pay the premium. I got a HTC HD2. Yes I know its Windows Mob, but its running HTC's Sense on top and with Snapdragon 1ghz processor, theres no lag, just smooth and problem free. Only had it a couple of months, but it blows my previous smart phones out the water.
Oh and Gadget Show gave it 5Gs and called it "an Iphone killer".

Shouldn't think any of them are much cop for carrying bikes! Have to say I think that aside from the sport cars, Porsche designers must be blind, the Cayenne and the Panamera have to be the ugliest cars on the road.

I believe in Germany the law means that if a company makes employees redundant, then they have to carry on paying them a full wage until they get more work. If that kind of system was in place here, it would mean the likes of Corus aren't quite so keen to pull the plug so quickly.
Ignoring the socio-economic class bollards being discussed here, its a sad day, you only have to look whats happened in South Wales over recent years to see how it could affect the area.

Any particular reason its got to be an upright? Only asking as we've just got a Miele Cat'n'dog. 2200w and lifts everything, and its the quietest hoover I've ever used. Bulletproof reliability too, comes top in the Which tests.

Well if we play like that in a fortnight, Ireland will hand our arses to us on a plate, I dare not contemplate what the French will do us at the end of March.
If France can maintain the same level of play we saw this weekend, they'll take the Slam, but we know all to well how hot and cold they can be.

I've got the Revs with Maxle, fantastic fork, and after a recent fling with a On-One and standard QR forks, I'm never going back to QRs. Bolt through axles for me from now on.
I've no personal experience of the Fox clamping system, but can say that the RS Maxle is brilliantly simple and secure system. I think I'll be considering the next bike purchase on maxle rear as well.

Thought Tait played OK, couple of nice little runs. I'm not sure what people really expect from him.
