Been taking (and getting the family to take) 2000iu a day since March.

No idea if it works, but haven’t had CV19 (I don’t think). Corralation is not causation etc etc. Also take some MCT C8 oil every morning.

neos work well at the cheaper end of the market

need a cover to go outside, and maybe a longer USB cable. If you add a SD Card you don’t need the paid cloud storage, but can still use the alerts

With my roof bars, I just put a bit of old inner tube under the cables in the area of the clamp

No issues, and generally have a few bits lying around the car in case of emergencies…

it’s Midsomer Murder country around here. They’re often filming when I’m out. And Mapledurham is the Eagle has Landed’s village/church etc.

Turville is Dibley, and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang village

Kelling Heath is Norfolk was in that rubbish Bond film with a North Korean diamond dealer. Nice cycling through the woods

Holkham is Shakespeare in Love, and the Eagle has Landed.

    I have it.
I’ve had surgery on my right hand pinkie – no issues, couple of weeks no driving, but fine. Still a little bent (the finger….) but not enough to worry. No skin grafts though

Since then I’ve been concerned about other fingers and so have had RT on both hands (full hands) to stop it. That seems to have worked. So far. Both procedures were private.

Also took part in a trial at Oxford where they inject with anti TNF stuff. It hurts….and I think I was on the placebo side. Unfortunately

PM if you want. I can go into loads more detail

this is the spiel we’ve come up with for cans over bottles

    Convenience
Beverage cans are valued for their convenience and portability. Lightweight and durable, they chill faster and are an ideal fit for active lifestyles – hiking, camping, and other outdoor adventures – without the risk of accidental breakage. Cans are also perfect for use in outdoor venues – from stadiums, to concerts, to sporting events – where glass bottles are not permitted, allowing customers to enjoy their favorite beer whenever and wherever they want.

    Product Protection
Taste and personality are critical for craft brew brands, making the protection of those attributes essential. Metal offers a powerful barrier against light and oxygen, two key enemies of craft brews and many other beverages as they can have an adverse effect on flavor and freshness. Beverage cans also help enhance craft beer brands on the shelf. The larger surface area of cans, for example, offers more space to promote your brand with eye-catching graphics, attracting consumer attention in the store.

    Sustainability
Beverage cans don’t just look good; they’re something consumers can feel good about buying. Metal packaging is 100% and infinitely recyclable, meaning it can be recycled again and again without loss of performance or integrity. In fact, the can that is recycled today can be back on shelves in as little as 60 days.

    Brewdog are a major customer.

Personally I prefer cans; it’s a better size for me. And a small amount of well flavoured, higher in alcohol beer is better than a session ale. That just bloats me

i would love one for my daughter’s first car, and her trip to school

only downside is the bleeding big hill between us and it. Both ways there’s a 15% hill for at least a mile. It would never do it

We’ve stayed at the pig in southampton. Lovely spot

https://www.titchwellmanor.com/ is good, Morston Hall very good for food and sea, Victoria at holkham

had our wedding breakfast at le strange arms. Lovely views of the sea from most rooms.

Just about to have a couple of nights in the seagate, appledore. Not posh, but lovely location (and cheap deals at the moment)

i have in-laws that go to the Brudenell every year for a couple of weekends. It’s a lovely spot

agree about the Hoste (having seen it over the last 25 years, it’s grown too big, and lost what made it good). Gone are the days you struggled to get in the bar; now there’s tables available even at 7pm on a saturday night

I have a 5X plus, with talkie toaster maps on, and it’s great for maps and navigation. Use it all the time when I’m in an area I’m unsure of. Stops me having to look at a map or a phone

i’m off on a run tomorrow. Few miles away, on paths I’ve never used before. No qualms about just going and relying on the watch to see me around for an hour or so

this year, we’re allowed 3 as a carry over, to be used in january

    gits

so I’m taking two weeks over xmas, and doing nowt.

That’s only in the UK. The rest of the company in Europe are different of course (always a bit annoying to see one of my staff in Paris getting 38 days holiday a year, and I’m scrabbling around trying to eke out my 25). Plus their extra bank holidays of course

cheap gin (lidl?), sloes, sugar. Leave

    two benefits

    b) it involves absolutely no effort.

These smart plugs are very good (albeit I use them with Google not Amazon). All our timered side lights are now on them, and the fact I don’t have to individually change four plugs weekly at this time of the year is great; they all just come on at sunset now. And of course, no more individually turning them off; just tell them to all go off is great.

Watch the price though; they’re normally £50, but regularly go down to £30. Just set an alert on Camelx3

@j4mesj4mes – sorry. Solely a dehumidifier. We have normal clothes horses, not heated

So clothes on them, dehumidifier on, close door.

My only caveat is set the minimum humidity to 50 %rh, as anything under that can apparently dry out the plaster too much.

    petec

when we dry clothes in the house, the dehumidifier goes on. Couple of hours in a closed room, and they’re dryer than the tumble dryer could ever get them

Also better for the clothes. Better for the house. Uses less energy. And you can use it when not drying clothes if the flat is that damp (and also dryer air feels warmer)

It was one of the purchases the wife laughed at when I bought it. Now, she uses it more than me.

at the end of last year, I got myself a Canon M100. As it was already replaced (by the M200…) it’s cheaper. I never had my dSLR on me – too big and bulky.

Came with 22mm and 15-45mm lenses. With the 22mm lens (which is equivalent to 35mm), it’s a very small camera that’ll fit into a jeans pocket, and it’s a f/2.0 lens. It’s generally always with me now, and would be ideal for urban shots. It’s seriously good. Since got a 28mm macro lens to go with – and that takes very good closeups. Next in line is the wide angle lens 11-22. I’ve also got an aftermarket lens converter so can put all the old dSLR lenses on (although it’s a bit forward heavy with the big lens!)

    Something like this anyway https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Canon-EOS-M100-Mirrorless-Camera-with-15-45mm-22mm-Lenses/362524551152

highly recommend it. And within budget.

We have one. It’s very good, but the learning mode was a pain in the jacksie. As was the ‘heating the hot water for two hours to get rid of Legionnaires’. Kept going off at 3am, which would wake me up…

but I love it apart from that. I have a lot of Google products, and the Home Hub has just had an update which means it’s a lot easier to control the nest (and lights!) from there. But the ability to turn the heating on by asking it to, or from the car on the way home from holiday etc is invaluable

I got a set of these https://www.amazon.co.uk/Eyeskey-Binoculars-Waterproof-Professional-Watching/dp/B01AFURB3S at the start of lock down (well, the 8 x 42 ones) as they’re easier to carry than my larger 10 x 50s

they are – to me at least – surprisingly good for the price (which fluctuates – a lot – by flash deals etc)

    Also do a 8 x 32 for smaller hands

    Wine society don’t mess about.

talking of the wine soc, I’ve just got a 47 year old bottle of bordeaux. It’ll help with presents at christmas as it’s my wife’s age.

The chance of such an aged, well looked after bottle was too good to turn up

Just join the wine society. It’s £40 (but you get £20 in a voucher)

Better, cheaper wine. And you buy what you want, when you want. Free delivery on cases.

holy grail of footwear is a lightweight waterproof boot that acts like a trainer,

I’ve found these to be excellent. Lightweight thin canvas, vibram sole, and 100% waterproof. Apparently Outdry is better for shoes than goretex/eVent etc as it’s hardier, and more able to cope with the flexing of feet.
