Bolonia in the Costa de la Luz. Delightful. Still unspoilt.

i use RwGPS for both the Elemnt and the Suunto watch. Seems to be the best plotting tool (at least of the ones i’ve used). Still only a free account though; can’t really see what a paid for account brings you.

Frank Turner is great for this sort of thing (albeit a bit sweary. Especially the early ones!)

This one is very good albeit not about death.

in a similar vein

“And we’re definitely going to hell
But we’ll have all the best stories to tell.”

but this song is possibly my fav

nope. Just renewed my mortgage with smile (co-op online bank of course).

but we don’t keep savings there (partly as rates are rubbish).

But someone’ll else will take on the mortgages/loans etc, and if I need to move the rest so be it.

I’ve got a road bike into panda with just the front wheel off.

Passenger seat forward, rear seats down. Slide it in 8O . Everyone’s a winner

at that age, my kids enjoyed cycling at dorney lake (Eton’s training lake). Its’ about 6km around, dead flat, and slightly more scenic than a lot of other places.

we have a frog for the boy (not the sky colours though), after years of Isla. Very good (once a couple of quality control issues were sorted). He loves it and the fact it comes with two sets of tyres is a bonus for me!

I’ve had a karcher outlet one for the last few years. No issues at all. But then it’s used maybe 4 times a year.

I put this together for a team cycle last year that never actually happened.

50km, couple of quiet roads, but good XC as well.

that bottom one is Burnham Overy Staithe in Norfolk. Watching the kids crabbing on the small wooden jetty you can see.

All three taken with my phone surprisingly.

glyphosate is carcinogenic…. would not touch it.

no it’s not

here

or indeed here

But yes, Rosate is where it’s at. Works wonders. Just don’t expect immediate results

Nope. The Wycombe one was Turville. Also known as Vicar of Dibley/Chitty Chitty Bang bang village.

Course, Midsomer is everywhere around here. The house next door featured heavily in one episode.

There’s also this – which is very close to Reading

this is very close to High Wycombe – which was mentioned.

There are loads of lovely hills and valleys around there.

i have one of these (need a battery as well…)

Very good. No complaints. Lasts for ages and is pretty light. And a 5 year guarantee (and Clas are very good at honouring them; bought an cabled hedge trimmer, tidied up a massively overgrown pivet which resulted in a slight burning smell, took it back and got a new one)

i have an element, and the maps have all footpaths and bridle ways. If you load them via Ride with GPS the navigation is excellent

my dad is 70 in four weeks.

he’s of the generation that has (or has the ability to have) anything he wants. Therefore there’s no real point buying much, as if he wants it, he’ll already have got it.

He’s also like a lot of blokes; doesn’t really do presents or birthdays. His ideal day would be to spend time with us of the next generation and our kids.

So, we’re just going for a walk, in the spring countryside, then a pub meal. I’ll even pick the parents up and drop them off afterwards, to allow them to really cut loose at the dinner.

And – just as a memento more than anything else, one of these.

despite my thought that Wahoo were bringing out a watch last week, they didn’t. So I gave up waiting, and bought the Suunto Ambit 3 vertical from Wiggle.

seems very good so far. Well made, very light, very customizable. And not a garmin.

there is only one pub worth going to; the hobgoblin (or ale house as it’s now called). More decent beers and ciders than you can shake a stick at, and a rabbit warren of little areas to sit. Love it.

or look here!

according to an email i received friday, wahoo are bringing out a watch tomorrow.

I know nothing more than that, but having been very impressed with the elemnt, the watch may be quite good as well.

Might be rubbish, might cost £500, who knows. But it might be worth waiting a day.

we’ve got a few different speakers, but keep coming back to this. taken it around europe, as dead easy to throw in a pocket

very small. excellent battery. decent volume. And put it on something magnetic (a fridge say), it uses that as the boom box. Amazing for the price, and now only a tenner.

use gabions

This is very good book, as it takes you through the fish, and then suggests different recipes for those (and similar types). If you’re buying what’s fresh in the fishmongers (supermarket…), it’s probably the best way around.

Also take you through which ones not to eat, and suggests more sustainable alternatives.

Also had this one, which i guess follows the same sort of pattern.

when we used to fly with the kids were young, it was a lot cheaper to get a couple of seats from Argos – planes will transport them free of charge, over and above the luggage allowance. They’ll even let you take them hand luggage.

They’ll be better quality than an old hire company one as well. Either leave them or bring them back and use them as a spare.

Last time we went to Portugal (albeit Lisbon) we used Enjoy, and eventually got a car from EPI through them. Got upgraded to a brand new Focus Estate, having paid for the level below.

Very relaxed – no complaints at all, and would use them again. There’s still a lot dirt tracks away from the main roads, so you don’t want a firm that’ll charge you for every stone chip

Bit further…but try Wells/Burnham/Holkham etc in North Norfolk. Lovely spot – endless skies.

i run a couple of times a week at work. No GPS watch, but iphone in the pocket recording the time.

i work out the route beforehand with ridewithgps, then just run. If i feel fine, then i push a bit harder. If i feel knackered, i run a bit slower.

Turns out all my runs are the same speed (pretty much). So i now know my pace and can just run at that for a long time.

No watch needed, but i wouldn’t mind the wahoo one when they bring it out.
