My sister does a lot of our genealogy, found we are related to Lillie Langtry, mistress to Prince of Wales around 1877

Recently had to clear out my mums house, me and my sister went through everything sorting out the more personal stuff we wanted to keep and the reasonable stuff for the charity shop. Then we got an auctioneer in to clear the rest of the house, they auctioned off the stuff that would sell and dumped the rubbish. A lot of the furniture (beds/settee etc) just got thrown away because it wasn’t flame retardant.

Water pipes from stop cock in the road to stop cock in house on our estate are very prone to leaks, I’ve had 2. Our water board will fix 3 (I think) for free. Had them out recently they were able to pin point leak to within a foot or so with leak detection equipment or just a listening probe.

Love my varifocals, much better than having to swap over glasses for distance and reading. Take a little getting used to. Bit of a nodding dog to start with trying to get the focus point right but you soon get the hang of it.

If this Mk1 Spit can be rebuilt after spending time buried in the sand on a beach then the Burma Spitfires should present no problems..

But I doubt there was much of the original used..

Lost my mum January 18th. Christmas last year was pretty miserable. This Christmas, not quite so bad. It can only get better. Good wishes go out to all who’ve lost those close to them.

Lost my mum on the 18th Jan this year too… Bit sad without her this Christmas..

So many of the bomb markers on the map are in a straight line, presumably the way they are dropped from the aircraft..

Lambda sensor ? These are often out of circuit till the engine warms up, often they have heaters inside to get it up to operating temperature quickly..

I like our warm air heating, made by Johnson and Starley over 30 years ago but spare parts are still available..

Disadvantages are the fan noise as it cuts in and out, not all the rooms are heated. The room temp does tend to rise and fall as the fan kicks in.

Advantages, heats up very quickly, clothes drying is nice and easy, just put a clothes horse in front of the vents a whole load dry in hours..

An the gas bills aren’t that bad..

But saying all that I think it will be soon taken out and replaced with a wet system, unless I can convince ‘er indoors to update the warm air to a more modern one.

Very nearly took both my eyes out in one go, with a set of needle-nosed pliers.
Can’t remember the exact scenario, but I had something in the vice with a pin or screw stuck in it (I think it might have been an old hope caliper.) Anyway, gripping the pin with these pliers, with both hands, and pulling full force, the damn things slipped. Because it was straight in front of me, they flew back and up and the pliers hit me square between the eyes; leaving cuts on both sides of the bridge of my nose.

I have a friend who did exactly that, but lost his eye..

I think you’ll need Virgin to set-up your Tivo box so buying off ebay is a non starter also the kit belongs to Virgin so it shouldn’t be sold on..

I had a V+ box and rang Virgin to see what deals I could get, after a bit of discussion they gave me the Tivo box and installed the V+ box in another room with 60meg broadband and reduced my payments by £4 per month !! But I did pay the £50 installation fee

Can you do me a favour – can you post back in this thread when you’ve done a couple of updates after the 200GB limit – let me know what it’s like.

Well its not doing too good.. I left it on all night after your post and it still hadn’t gone over the 200GB, Its now got to 197GB with 21GB remaining (I’ve added some more stuff to upload)

I’m not sure how accurate the total GB is as at one point it went down to 175GB

It is VERY slow to upload to Carbonite, my upload speed is 3,000kbps so its not slow..

Sounds like you are just the right side of the 200GB throttle.

Just noticed I’ve got 12.5GB pending, so that will take me over.. But as my PC is left on for quite long periods I’m not sure the throttling will make a lot of difference..

    Wow Carbonite does sound good.
Maybe a bit ‘too good to be true’!

I have 195GB at the moment with no problems at all, it will take a long time to do the initial upload, I think up to 2 weeks was quoted somewhere, but after that only the changed files are uploaded so much quicker.

I joined before they had the different levels of cover, haven’t gone into the terms and conditions, perhaps I should..

I’ve used Carbonite for years. It’s $60 per year and you can completely forget about it once you’ve installed it

+1 for Carbonite, unlimited storage off site, easy to recover and upload, just tag the folders you need to save, all done automatically every time files are changed.

I was fortunate enough to be at the filming for this episode, the BMW Brutus was incredible, at the end of the show they drove it out of the studio to take it away in a trailer. The noise when it started up was LOUD !! There was a sort of removable cover over the exhaust but they chose not to put it on. I got this photo just as they turned the corner then it went fish tailing up the road setting off car alarms as it went and spitting flames !!

One thing – buy sooner rather than later, due to flooding the Thailand, hard drive prices are set to increase substantially for the next year.

They already have, prices have trebled in most cases..
