Whilst riding with the Bogies over to Studley Pike we were challenged by a water authority person in a landrover who said. Do you know you shouldn't be riding here, to which someone answered Yes and i also know there's nothing you can do about it. At which point we rode off.

On another occasion whilst riding with B.A.D, we were challenged by a fell runner with a similar question, the response that time was, Its OK we won't be here for long.

Usually i ignore such questions as i don't feel they deserve a response.

Bikes are in the garage 20 foot away, running shoes about the same. The Pennine moors about 50 yards, i am so lucky to live here.

Work 9-5, some times i get stressed. Home is my time and work does not exist untill the alarm goes off at 7am. Its important to remember that work exists only to fund the important things in life, what ever that may be.

Seems to me that Jeremy Clarkson has hits many nails on the head, suddenly i like him and agree with his views. If that makes me a bad person in any way i'll just have to live with it.

Night riding is over rated and i'm just not prepared to pay more than my bike is worth (04 Spesh enduro) to get a set of proper lights, its just not practical. Night running however is a different story, £40 gets you a decent enough light to feel safe running anywhere.

The guy being a tosser and working while claiming benefits are two different things. If he pisses you off by parking inconsiderately then talk to him. However his finances are his business not yours.

When the thieving c * * *s we have running this country start setting the correct example then perhaps we can start to deal with benefit fraudsters etc.

Nothing to do with Audi,s, a c**t is a c**t regardless of the car they drive. This mornings c**t was driving a Focus. Yesterdays c**t was driving a Transit.

You can't let these people affect your day, acknowledge the incident and continue with your day.

Used a Hal Higdon schedule for my first marathon – Snowdon. 3hrs 36mins. Its all in the training and they really do work. Runner world have them i think.

Live and let live, the trails are not just for cyclists, show some respect for other people and perhaps they will show you some.

4.5 miles each way for me, i have driven the commute once, have also taken the money instead of a company vehicle as i don,t wish to drive at all.

If the bikes happen to be out of action for any reason i walk.

Chop off a sheeps head and leave it on the drivers seat of his landrover.

Phone and ask to speak to his son, tell him your his boy friend.

Phone the police and say he said he has a gun and will shoot you if you don't stay off his land.

    Or perhaps not.

I can't get along with Inov8, bought some Roclite's and sent them back. They rubbed the back of my foot, dangerous on wet rocks and have virtually no padding.Running home with my shoes in my hands was enough for me to give up on them altogether.

I find that 30 ish% of my 30-50 miles a week is on roads as i have to fit the miles in where i can so often run home from work. I bought Salomon XA PRO GTX, yes they are expensive but i find them very good so far. They are no good for proper fell running but great for trails and a comfy, tough training shoe.

This thread is like a soap opera – only more interesting. I find my self checking in on it just to see how things are going and to see if there are any new pics. Strangley enough i'm not even in the market for a light. Unless there is a head mounted running light in the pipeline…

Lee Quarry is just up the road from me but i hardly use it, once in the last 12 months. Its just to short, it needs a track accross to Rooley moor or some other way of linking it into the surrounding trails without having to cycle on footpaths.

Not mountain biking but – Usualy about 20 miles into a marathon i promise myself that i'll never do it again. Or getting lost on a solo night run i say the same.

I don't often comment on threads with such stong opinions, however i feel compelled to say some thing about PETERPODY's comments.

    I agree with you.

Also i have to add that my morning commute usually involves some car driving prick doing something stupid/dangerous. EVERY DAY SOME **** DOES SOME THING. When i have a morning commute that does not i will start treating car drivers like humans.

If the way i ride my bike or my opinions/spelling/grammer etc etc etc offend, I'll live with it, but feel free to amuse me anyway.

**** i bet that hurts, looks like you are indeed lucky to get away without serious injury.

In the past 5 years i have had 4 hospital visits through MTB's, in 25 years of motorcycles i only had 1. It can be a dangerous sport, i have more bottle than ability which doesn't help.

I started with cheapish shoes from JJB (30/40 quid), they have a good range OF beginners stuff. Middle of the road shoes are great for road running but get something decent if you go off road.

I run off road marathons and choose Salomon XA PRO Ultra GTX, just because i want them to last a little longer than 6 months. In the long term i believe they are worth the 90 quid, which i must add is a lot of money to me.

Montrail Highlander are great for shorter off road/fell, plenty of grip, a decent amount of padding and are available on the web for 40 quid.

Inov8 are worth staying well clear of. IMHO

Never broken a bone – despite more than 20 motorcycle crashes.

Infact only had one hospital visit through motorbikes in 25 years, had 4 hospital visits in 5 years of riding mountain bikes. Gonna retire and start riding motorbikes again.

I to have never had love with a prossie, think its one i shall stick with as well.

Recently had an Inguinal hernia repair, before my pre op i shaved any affected area's, much to the amusment of the nurse, apparently its not required for key hole surgery. Although she did say it was very common for men to "Trim" these days.
