its actually that the profits of our very profitable manufacturing were taken out of the businesses by the owners not reinvested

That’s because the unions would refuse to use any new equipment that would make an improvement to efficiency/quality.

The coalition doesn’t have to try very hard at all to get this divide and rule tactic working do they? They must be pissing themselves laughing at threads like this. Wake up, we’re all being shafted!

Thus if there is a deficit in the future the government tax payer has to make it good as it has not saved or invested the current surplus.

    Fixed that for you.

And an update on camerabox. The camera arrived a few days ago, but it was without a peel off protective label on the touch screen which made me suspicious it was a refurbed model rather than new. I’ve tried it and it seems OK and the purchase price reflects what I would expect to pay for a refurbed model. Could have sent it back under the 7 day distance selling regs but decided I like the camera and can’t get another one easily as they are being discontinued so will stick with it.

    Won’t use camerabox again though.

Surgeons have revealed that Wayne Rooney used Colleen’s pubic hair for his hair transplant. Apparently the success rate is much higher if it’s transplanted directly from one **** to another.

Mol, I too had been wondering about them, another one is camerabox. Again, too good to be true.

Made the stupid mistake of buying off camerabox before doing a quick check. One month on and still no camera, seems like I’m not alone – link

Nice work Col, you’re right about about the lard. Rode it on Monday evening after the rain and it was interesting on summer tyres!

Yep, someone told me about Djokovic but I didn’t realise Stoner had the same problem. In a nutshell Gluten damages the small intestine of people who have celiac disease. This damage keeps your body from taking in many of the nutrients from the foods you eat, including vitamins, calcium, protein, carbohydrates, fats and other important nutrients. Your body can’t work well without these nutrients.

Also, if you have Irish blood you may be more susceptible to gluten intolerance.

Similar symptoms to the OP but not as severe, just put it down to getting old. Last week the doc told me I had a slight gluten intolerance and put me on a gluten-free diet for six months. After just a week I fell transformed, rode on Saturday and managed to clear a climb I struggled with recently (the last, short, steep climb out of the black at Llandegla) which I used to be able to clear OK. Felt fine on Saturday night instead of falling asleep at 8pm and getting a bollocking off Mrs Pembo. Out again on Monday for a ride and felt great. Anyone struggling with fatigue should try gluten free for a week, easy to try and it may just do the trick. Further info here[/url]

A bit of iDave diet serendipity happened this week. I’ve been doing the diet for 3 weeks and had to go back to the hospital on Wednesday to get my biopsy results from the ahem internal examination I had recently. Doc asked me how I’d been and I told him my ‘symptoms’ had really calmed down since I started the diet, which I then described. Doc started smiling and told me I had a slight gluten intolerance and he wasn’t surprised the iDave diet had calmed things down. Got to do a 6 month gluten free diet though so I’ll carry on with iDave for a few more weeks and just hit the chips and beer on the rest day!

    From the BBC website:
A married footballer named on Twitter as having an injunction over an alleged affair with a reality TV star has been named in Parliament by Lib Dem MP John Hemming as Ryan Giggs.

Mr Hemming named him during an urgent Commons question on privacy orders

They outsourced IT services where I work some years ago, replacing a handful of programmers on 25k.

Now we have many times more private sector programmers on 1k a day and their managers on 1.5k a day. And that’s not including the seemingly never ending need for non technical public sector IT contract managers, and their managers earning 30 – 40k.

Costs went up 10x easily. And you can’t get anything done without additional funding.

We had a quote recently from contractors for £135 an hour.

That is the single biggest problem with the public sector, they pay way over the odds for IT compared with the private sector and I assume they pay way over the odds for other services. Do you think Tesco pay the rates to IT suppliers you quote?

Of course teh whole argument is debatable – lots of estimates and what do you include on both credit and debit sides – however the old canard that motorists pay more than they get needs to be refuted and this is a part of that refutation. Teh motorist certainly doesnot contribute meaningfully to the exchequer after costs and as I said if you include capital costs such as land usage then its seriously in deficit.

I see you fail to include in your calculations the £3billion per month in fuel tax revenue, ?? for road tax, ??? for insurance tax, plus the 1/2 million people that work in the automotive sales and support industry who would otherwise be on on benefits.

Sorry, I just don’t buy it that motorists are subsidised. Oh, and your original figures are from April 2008, I think you will find that things have changed in the last 3 years.

I’m in the same boat as the OP. I checked out the reviews for the Panny FT3 and they reckon it’s hard to use with gloves on. The Olympus doesn’t have this problem but the start-up and autofocus are slow. Anyone agree/disagree with these comments?

Nothing, nowt, zip. Took the second sachet at 4pm and I’ve had quite a few rumblings but no explosions since the initial one.

My initial smugness has been replaced with a fear that all relevant debris may not have been cleared and I’ll have to go through it all again.

Doc told me I can’t use the computer after the “procedure” in case I go mad buying stuff due to the sedative. He had one patient who bought a new car on the way home when his wife stopped for petrol. She’d been nagging him for a year about a new car and he just did it :-)

Inappropriate use of the word “organic”

Newspapers saying “sources close to …”. In other words we made the next bit up to make it sound more interesting.

People who leap up as soon as the aeroplane stops, usually just before the seat belt light goes out and grab all their belongings from the overhead locker as if it means they will get off the plane quicker. If I’m in an aisle seat I just carry on reading my book and the person in the window seat is usually half stood up with their head touching the overhead locker. You can feel the stress rising as the plane starts to empty and I’m sat with my seatbelt done up.

If anyone reading this is sat in 4A on the 0715 from Manchester to LHR in the morning don’t be in a hurry when we land

What was the purpose of this thread again?

I thought we were talking about pay rises, or the lack of them. I was going to mention our plans for asking the company I work for to set-up a Works Council so we could have an official forum for discussing pay rises, but Cuban politics is far more interesting :?
