Constantly bottom of the JD Power rankings so you take a big chance with a second hand one. Mrs Pembo has an 08 HSE and has had lots of problems with it including a new propshaft after 38k miles!

Numerous other problems which meant we had to take the extended warranty when the manf warranty ran out for peace of mind. Even last week the engine light came on and it was back in the garage. This time it was some kind of valve which allows exhaust gas back into the engine to help heat the engine up in cold weather. Apparently they get caked in soot and stop working.

Lovely car to drive when all is well, although quite a few muppets don’t like you overtaking on the motorway and speed up which is a bit bizarre.

    +1 for HatchBag.

Best cheap solution is a patio furniture tarp which has a bucket shape so none of the crap rolls out.

I’ve been GF for over a year now and like anything in life that gets thrown at you its how YOU deal with it.

GF food choices in shops and restaurants has come on leaps and bounds in the short time I have been GF. Even the staff canteen I usually eat at marks things up for gluten and dairy content.

    Here’s a bit of a brain dump:

    Bread
Warburtons GF is the best. GF pitta are OK but crumpets are dire. I bought a panasonic bread maker which has a GF program but the first recipe I tried just used the normal setting. This recipe makes brilliant crunchy toast and I just use sugar instead of honey and normal milk instead of buttermilk. Ingredients are easy to get from Holland and Barrett. The secret of getting good toast with GF bread is to grill it on both sides rather than use the toaster. The GF frozen pizza at Tesco tasted great apart from the topping which was very bland so you just need to add a few bits to spice it up.

    Pasta
Substitute pasta is pretty good but make sure the water is boiling vigorously before you drop the pasta in and stir immediately to stop it going gloopy.

    Beer
This is my biggest problem as I love real ale and do go astray with the obvious consequences.
Nick Stafford’s Hambleton Ales do a decent bitter but is quite gassy. Bought this at Booths.
Estrella Damm do a GF lager which I wasn’t that keen on. Available at ASDA.
I got on OK with St Austell brewery’s Proper Job in bottles when I was down in Cornwall so I need to order some in for Christmas. Waitrose stock this.

    Processed Meals
I don’t eat many but they usually have gluten so beware.

    Eating Out
Most restaurants are excellent for handling your requirements. Some will even cook you something special to order e.g. if fish and chips are on the menu ask if they will grill the fish without batter. Be careful with Chinese as soy sauce is made with fermented wheat. However, Japanese soy sauce is GF.

Not being able to leave -ve feedback on eBay. Just had some joker buy stuff which he arranged to collect but never showed up. Checked his feedback in more detail and although he was 100% positive feedback every comment was a variation on ‘never shows up’.

The Register appears to have been duped by them already.

Maybe not, most of the companies who advertise with The Register will be in the same boat as Google, Amazon and Starbucks. You don’t want to upset your customers do you?

That certainly applies to the Superb I but since the II was launched in 2009 there have been major improvements.

Loving my Superb 4 months after trading ‘down’ from an E Class estate. The Superb was a bit of a wildcard when I was looking to change but gets some great reviews from AutoExpress and Fifth Gear. The guys at Fifth Gear pitched it against a new E Class estate and it came out very well.

You appear to believe that the tories have never lied

You won’t get me defending the tories dj15, and if you want to go down the tory route take a look at the daily mail article that links Peter Morrison with Bryn Estyn. You also don’t know wrexham very well with your refernce to ‘wanabee tories’.

I believe the establishment were involved in the abuse at Bryn Estyn and people in and around wrexham want the full truth to come out, especially around one establishment person who is not related to any political party.

I think you will find that Steve Messham has apologised for mistakenly naming Lord MacAlpine. Still, if it makes you feel better go ahead and bash the torys :-)

The truth will come out and justice will be done irrespective of any political allegiance.

That seems to be what is alleged kimbers so I don’t know why dj15 is still going down the Lord McAlpine route. As far as I remember there was a family feud between the brothers so no reason for Lord McAlpine to come up to wxm. Shockingly, it appears the poor kids were taken down to London for sex parties – http://news.sky.com/story/1009280/care-home-abuse-victim-tells-of-sex-parties

Yes indeed Borras airfield and Bryn Estyn are very close, with road a connecting them both.

But the airfield is in the quarry complex that belonged to the McAlpine who is now dead, did Lord McAlpine even have a plane as davidjones15 seems to be implying?

Guardian are claiming it was another member of the McAlpine family who lived locally. You seem to know the area so like me you know who they are referring to.

The interesting for me is the mistaken identify on the Wrexham abuse has stopped this being swept under the carpet again. If the true alleged abuser had been identified correctly would this story have even made Newsnight and resulted in the subsequent inquiry?

The repo I looked at was marketed with a 90 day timescale. On at 275k and is still on right move stating an offer of 260k has been accepted but open to higher offers until contracts are exchanged. Not sure if that is the most common way repos are sold though, and you also get everything left in the house, shed, garden. This one has a full size snooker table in the man cave out back!

You seriously expect me to believe you have lost your army pension firestarter? Sure, there may have been an admin cock-up but you will get your army pension. If I was you I would get some independent advice.

I pay 11.2% at the moment goin up to 12.6% not sure what employer pays but I know as my payments go up theirs go down. I’m going to be paying for an extra five years now too. I also brought in my army pension so I could leave a bit earlier and get full pension but now as we have to work longer anyway I’ve lost that and its now gone into the pension pot never to be seen again and I also have to pay around 3 years extra contributions for the pleasure . Deep joy

If all that is true I will show my arse in Burtons shop window. Sounds like the unions up to the usual scare mongering.

I’m struggling to get a waterproof that is long enough. Most of them seem to finish just below the waist but I need one a bit longer so my arse doesn’t get wet on rainy dog walks. My Lowe alpine did a great job but now needs replacing after a good few years use.

I got a boot liner for my superb estate which meant I had to take out the divider and lash mounts. Make sure you get a liner with the extra piece that drops down over the bumper.

A couple of months ago I got on the tube at Baker Street after waiting for a family to get off. As I sat down the young lad of about 5 realised he had dropped something on the train and started pointing near my feet. The dad had to hold onto the lad to stop him getting back on the train and was getting distraught at leaving this ‘thing’ on the train that I was now looking for. Just as the doors started beeping I saw a small grey rocket on the grey floor and managed to pick it up and throw it out just as the doors closed. Cue big smile from kid with his now fully working transformer toy and thumbs up from dad as train pulled out. :-)

How does it work with a NFC phone? Does it just take money from your Google Wallet like when buying an app?

You associate a debit/credit card with the phone so there is no difference between using card or phone assuming your card is contactless. I work at a site which is cashless and just changed my debit card to contactless as chip and pin is a faff when you buy a cup of coffee . First Direct as usual were very helpful, told me I would get a contactless card in 2015 when my current card expired but were quite happy to issue a new one straight away, they just marked it on the system as damaged and I got a new card in a couple of days.

1997 SPOTY was Greg Rusedski, a canadian who came second in the US Open. Shows how far this country has come in sports achievment since then and what a fantastic year it has been for UK sport.

I have one contact lense for distance and one for close-up, kind of like bifocals. But I’ve just started putting distance lenses in both eyes on MB days and it’s made a big difference to my depth of field vision and much easier to pick out the trail features. Have to make sure I ride with a mate as it means I can’t read the map now!

I don’t really understand this, so how come Mercedes Benz(Daimler) didn’t sue every other car maker in history for putting an engine at the front four wheels and a gearbox…

Plenty of patent battles in the past over sewing machines, steam engines and other innovations.

Evidently dopestrong donations have soared this last week despite the infidels, I guess thats the patriot home crowd WASP majority coming out in favour of their all American boy.

It will be interesting to see the impact on his public speaking engagements. We had him at our user group meeting in Las Vegas and probably paid between $100-200K for a 45 minute speech. I can’t see the big corporate boys booking him in the future, even the patriots.

And with that kind of revenue stream at risk you can see why he tried every legal move he could to get the USADA case dropped. In fact, with that much to lose you wonder why he didn’t have his day in court?

This is a commercial website designed to bring in revenue for the owners. Mark confirmed the visitor numbers were constantly increasing and felt TJ and others were putting people off contributing to the forum and therefore impacting revenue to either the magazine or the click through from the ads.

We all have bills to pay so I can see his point,

How can a hire car company charge you when the clutch goes ?? Hardly your fault !!

Correct, but google Spanish hire car clutch for some horror stories.

Whatever else you do. Buy one of the independent Collision Damage Waiver insurances. The Hire Car companies charge rip off rates for these services & there are a lot of stories of damage being fabriacted by the foreign companies

We did this for Majorca and they gave us the ‘special’ car from the back of the lot. No fuel cap flap, tape holding the glove box shut, ripped seat. Threw it back at them and they begrudgingly brought out a decent car.

We did this as on another occasion the clutch went on the long uphill drag just before Malaga airport, we had turned down the extra insurance to cover wheels and glass but they had included clutch in this cover. Took €1,000 in total off my credit card which I got back in the end thanks to holiday autos.

Check out all the advice here – http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/travel/cheap-car-hire

Our greyhound has hardly any teeth now so we give him this stuff

We also have pro-biotics for the old fella which seems to have gotten him over the worst of his stomach problems. That said his food from this morning is untouched and he has been out in the garden eating grass.

The odd slice of buttered toast or warm pasta also used to do the trick of getting him to eat.

You could also go for reverse psychology of not putting food out and making it a battle of wills.

Rubbish quality zips on an otherwise brilliant product. Had a new zip put in mine at the local clothes alteration shop, cost £35 but better than a new jacket.
