I knocked this one out post ride on Tuesday night. First time attempt, quick, easy and tasted great based on a mackerel biriani I had in Poole recently.
    – brown rice
    – packet of mackerel/smoked mackerel
    – frozen peas
    – Pataks curry paste of any denomination

    1. Bring brown rice to the boil then simmer for 30 mins.
    2. Hit the shower
    3. Throw a portion of peas in the microwave
    4. Skin a packet of smoked mackerel/peppered mackerel (reserve skin and one fillet for the dog). Dice other 2 fillets.
    5. Drain rice then warm mackerel in the rice pan
    6. Drain peas and add to mackerel along with rice and Pataks curry paste (not sauce) to required spiciness.
    7. Warm through and serve.

Comes out as quite a dry curry but the oiliness of the mackerel makes it really nice and pretty healthy.

Chicken? What is the point in eating such tasteless crap? It's either red meat, veggy stuff or fish for me.

Another good reason for using Spotify. Just type in a song name and listen to all the different versions.

It must be love by Labi Siffre and Madness is a dead heat for me.

Shame that Martin and George have moved on. John is such a cool guy though so anyone who has booked will still have a great time.

I went 1 year ago today and the whole trip was fantastic. Martin and his partner run a great house at Cerro Mach. This video sums the riding up perfectly – vid

Stupid language Welsh. At least with english you know that when a word is spelt (or is it spelled?) 'cholmondeley' it is pronounced 'chumley'.

So George tells it how it has to be while Crash Gordon and Darling wait until a week after the Labour conference to come up with the same concept. Why didn't they have the balls to stand up and say that last week?

    Spineless ****ts.

    Bump.

It's scary on my own, especially when some joker starts tracking you through the woods with a laser site. Not a comfortable feeling having a green laser dot on you.

I'm no expert but I was told that for a kitchen use engineered wood. If you have any type of leak it will cope better.

Saw a seaplane flying over Delamere this afternoon from the Southport direction, what was it? Later on also saw 3 old fighters flying in formation along the light aircraft path that goes over my house, didn't sound like a spitfire but was one of them a ME109?

    How Steep.

Tells you if it's a huck or just jeyXC.

Steeper than anything you can ride at the moment

LinkHere's the My Tracks from Friday evening. If you click on the end track it gives you the stats. Not as good as a Garmin but still pretty good.

Yes, the free version mean you get ads but they are not as frequent as commercial radio. You just build your own playlists same as your MP3/ipod but you have access to nearly unlimited music. You can also browse and play other peoples playlists if they choose to share them.

For £10 a month you get the ad free version and the mobile version. The mobile version also allows you to download selected tracks so if you are going somewhere without a mobile signal e.g. the london underground you can still keep listening. Any downloaded tracks are erased after 30 days. Some peope are saying it will kill itunes, only time will tell.

Seconded Graham. I'm still on the free version as the ads are no hassle. But I have an android phone so I'm thinking of upgrading to the £10 a month plan, anyone else tried the mobile version?

My Tracks is good for logging rides and has a great inetrface with google maps. I used it for the first time on Saturday, I just pressed 'start track' then put it in my backpack. It recorded the whole route and gave me speed, distance elevation etc. Press another button and it loads it up to Google Maps and gives a URL you can email out.

Also get Grid Reference, does what it says on the tin.

Interesting the balls were just plain old ping pong balls and not the proper type of lottery balls with multiple numbers on. Also, when he turned the balls around the numbers were pointing slightly upwards and all the ink was above the perspex bar containing the balls. Could he have used a remote laser/etching device to 'paint' the balls from above as the numbers came out, or have I had too much beer?

No, it was some guy visiting his mother-in-law in Anglesey and managing to get away for a cheeky ride on his Orange 5. Right about the Garmin but I use it for recording not navigating at trail centres.

Saw a P7 parked up when we were leaving at 5:30, nice bike. Hope you were keeping a close eye on it, bikes have gone missing from the decking on more than one occasion. More grin factor riding it on a HT than a FS IMHO. Logs are OK now they have recovered the chicken wire, you just need to power up the first section. Started at 3 and only saw about 6 other riders after the climb.

Tried them using my normal riding socks which are medium thickness Falke running socks.

pm me with your email address if you need the Garmin file, I also have the Tracklogs. Thought we had gone wrong last Saturday as the fireroad bit seemed to go on for longer than I remember. Also saw the guy riding alone who was from Sheffield.

Rode both loops today and it was very wet but great fun. Clipped the boardwalk tree with the bar end but somehow managed to stay on. All of the little dips are full of water so if you have a mudguard (waits to be flamed) it will save you a real soaking. Long fingered gloves will help avoid being brambled but they have recently cut some sections back.

There was a drop into a hairpin? Where was that? Been riding the black (Which I would say was barely a red) for yonks and dont remember anything drop-like on it!

    Here – Drop Off

I think it came down in 2008, quite a funny vid,

As above Hartford is the nicer part and has good rail links to Liverpool and Crewe for further connections. Northwich is even more of a hole now that lots of the shops are empty. Also agree the villages between Northwich and Chester are nice which mean you can get into Delamere forest in a few minutes for some good riding. PM me if you need any advice on schools.

Could be argued that horsey events hark back to original olympics with horseriding being an important warrior skill.

Still we often do well at horsey events so lets keep it!

Don't ride but can appreciate the skill involved in getting a horse to do dressage and if you have ever walked round a cross country course and seen the fences up close you would be terrified about trying to jump them!

Problem with equestrian events is if you can afford to spend 6 figures on a horse you can go straight into a very high standard, you still have to be a bloody good rider though but it doesn't qute fit with the Olympic spirit.

My twins turn 17 next month but we can only afford to get them one car to share. Any (legal) advice on getting the best insurance deal as only one will be driving the car at any one time?
