Binners/Daffy my circulation is not great but a combination of MW80s, Gore Phantom and SealSkinz gloves has made an amazing difference to this winter's riding.

The worse cold feeling I had this winter was about a 7 out of 10 but last winter it was getting unbearable at times.

Dried dog food if you have any, especially the pink cubed ones out of Bakers Complete. But I had to superglue it to the spike on the trap as they were very good at taking the dog food without setting the trap off. Once they had to wrestle it off it seemed to do the trick. Had about 8 that way.

It's also not commonly known that your credit rating doesn't depend on how likely you are to repay your debt, but how much money the company can make from you.
    Because it's not true

"Banks pick customers for their own good, NOT yours, so the scoring process is about profit not risk. Of course, risk plays a part, as those unlikely to repay are a threat to profits. Yet even the most solvent may be rejected if they're unlikely to act in a way that'll generate profit for lenders."

+1 for Craster. Me and mrs Pembo have just had some. Bake in the oven for 7 minutes, wholemeal toast, real butter, fresh coffee – done.

For work I use a 12oz Bodum Cafetiere like this and a bag of decent coffee. Works a treat and better than the £1.65 'posh coffee' from the Regus canteen.

Some guy I work with keeps banging on about 2012 being the end. Something to do with the mayan calendar finishing in December 2012 which coincides with the earth crossing the milky way equator which sends the poles bonkers (not the polish). Just had a quick google and come up with this

Presumably the FC have looked at car parking and although the visitor centre car parks gets busy there is always space where the Christmas trees are sold.

As you guys point out there are hundreds of trails in Delamere and I've had good fun linking them all up. But, there is also room for formalised and well signed trails alongside the cheeky stuff we all know. It's great to see mums, dads and kids out on bikes and Delamere is an ideal place to let them ride on a bit of well signed trail.

However, I can see potential issues between walkers and bikers but again I'm comfortable putting that problem in the hands of the FC.

I can't believe the responses of Dave and PaulMc. There is plenty of scope for putting in better drainage and building some decent trails. I've been riding Delamere for 4 years now and still find bits of new stuff but for any casual visitor you will not get a good ride.

One trail could be a perimeter loop on the side where they sell the Christmas trees, with the really boggy bit either drained or built over with a wooden section.

Another trail could start from the visitors centre and climb up old pale using the zig zags which is already a bridle way, then descend towards Primrose Hill before taking the farm track back into the forest.

Bottom line is the FC and Tony should be applauded for this initiative. Stop being selfish guys and let's open this up to more people. It's not your forest it belongs to the public and not everyone wants to ride it at 7:30 on a monday evening.

Sian and Louise 17. It doesn't seem 5 minutes since they were teething and now they are starting to drive :?

And remember folks the odds of another set of twins comes down from 1 in 100 to 1 in 8. That got me down the clinic for the snip pronto.

Ann Arbor is worth a visit if you just want a relaxing day. It's home to the University of Michigan and has plenty of bars, coffee shops, book stores etc and a laid back feel. It may even have some college hockey or basketball going on.

It's about time the people in NI realised the people in the UK and ROI don't give a damn what's happening in NI. In fact if we woke up tomorrow and NI had slipped beneath the Irish Sea would anyone be bothered?

Transfer the whole lot to a SIPP (Self Investment Personal Pension) and manage it yourself. It's more fun and you can't possibly do a worse job than the so called 'Professional' fund managers.

No way should you transfer any final salary pension into a SIPP. But for the other schemes a low cost SIPP from someone like Hargreaves Lansdown would be a good move. There's plenty of advice on t'internet if you don't want to pay a FSA.

Surprised it came out that expensive, did you try expedia, travelocity or kayak?

Like most large cities you can't go wrong with the hop on/off tourist bus. A good walk is to start at the Lincoln Memorial then walk east passing the Vietnam memorial, reflection pool, monument, call in at the Smithsonian then keep going until you reach the Capitol.

Terrace bar at the Hotel Washington on 15th St NW gives good views of the area around the White House.

Georgetown has good bars and restaurants.

Washington Suites in Georgetown, especially if you have family. If not it's still a great location with a good local bar 2 doors away and a 5 minute walk to the bars and restaurants of Georgetown, also handy for the bus and metro. Very safe area. Check it out on Google street view and walk down into Georgetown (sorry tried pasting the link but it didn't work).

I once worked with a guy who was about 6' 4" and drove with his nose pressed against the windscreen. It meant he couldn't see the speedo properly so had to choose a car with a dangly bit on the speedo needle so he could roughly work out what speed he was going based on the position of the dangly bit.

If you want a low res washed out screen get an iPhone otherwise get a Nexus. Or if you want a decent screen on an iPhone wait until July.

So it's a big iPhone that you can't phone on?

Spot on crikey. One of the benefits of a smartphone like the iPhone is with 3G you can download content in lots of places. If this is just wi-fi you have to go hunting for wireless hotspots.

edit – maybe you can tether the iPhone to it?

TJ, have a word with yourself.

In my OP I said "There is a huge number (millions?) of people in the private sector who have very little pension provision, To get a pension of £10k a year you currently need a pension pot of around £200k. How many people in the private sector have this when they reach retirement?"

And your TUC figures back this up stating the average private sector worker pension is only £5k compared to the £7k in the public sector, so don't start bleating about how poor off the public sector workers are, try working in the real world.

The figures the TUC put forward are also dubious as it doesn't take into account the proportion of public sector workers to private sector workers, although Gordo is doing his best to make this equal.

every £ that the taxpayer subsidises the state worker pension £7 goes on subsiding private pensions thru tax relief.

    Source please TJ?

state employees are paid less than equivalent people in the private sector and the average pension they receive is low – barely enough to take them out of benefits, £10 000 pa is the average pension. real riches that is.

Yep, I picked a high mileage 04 up about 3 months ago and it is a fine car for an old git like me (or your folks). Google 'mercedes rust' and you will see it was a really bad problem when Merc moved to water based paints. If you do your research you can work out which ones to avoid.

Nexus is excellent. A guy I work with just had one shipped from the US so I had a play around with it and compared it to my HTC magic. The screen is fantastic and much better than the iPhone, processor is also really fast so the apps fly. If you can wait until it comes out on contract do so.

When Paddy was asked why he had such a long password?

he replied ''Bejazus! are yez ****' stupid? Shore Oi was told me password had to be at least 8 characters long and include one capital''

I use Jamie's recipe and found that mixing it all on the work surface is best. To clear up the mess just pour small amounts of boiling water from the kettle onto the work surface and all the gunk lifts off easily with a cloth.
