My favourite part of the world. Ordesa national park is, for me, the 8th wonder of the world. I travel to Huesca 2-3 times a year as my late wife’s family live there. Can’t give any advice on buying/renovating, but I do think you will need to engage a local architect & lawyer. I wish you well. I would love to live in the region. The people are great. & you already know how stunning the area is. If you want to run a B&B who/what is your target market? In my experience, a large number of Spaniards from the region have 2nd properties in the mountains- Jaca, Panticosa, Biescas, Ainsa, Benasque etc (lucky buggers), which are used during the ski season or to escape for weekends, but they do like to have a choice of bars/ eateries nearby as, culturally they eat out, especially if they have down time. Summers are spent on the beach. Massive generalisation, I know but I have been frequenting the area for nearly 25 years & this is certainly the case for those that I have come in contact with.
How remote is the property? So would you be looking to attract Brits, Dutch, French etc?

Nog out the joists at 1/3rd & 2/3rd span & if you can remove the floorboards, glue & screw 18mm ply on top of the joists, which effectively turns each joist into a “T” beam, which is inherently much stiffer. I have seen this done several times on old floors which have a bit of ” bounce” & it works a treat.

3 very different bikes. If it was my choice I’d go for the speed triple. I’ve got a 1050 sprint & it’s a stonking engine & of the three the triumph has got to be the most practical, usable, cheapest to buy & run etc.

OP – if you like the style of I&G then you really need to find some Tullibardine 1488.

Like the sound of that- it was the oaky whisky aftertaste that really stood out for me with the I & G

Did a motorbike tour around Normandy & the landing beaches a few years back. Stayed at a decent campsite in Falaise right next to the castle where Norman the Conquerer was born. Easy access to all the key WW2 landing sites etc & the Bayeaux Tapestry. Swiss Normandy worth checking out for cycling &, I believe, canoeing.
Lots of great cheese, & of course, Calvados.

Interested to hear the thoughts of “those in the know” too, as i’m looking to get a kit for my 8yr old daughter (i might have the occasional paradiddle myself).
This kit was recommended to me by a music teacher couple, they have this kit themselves & said that the mesh head on the snare gives a much more realistic snare drum feel – only quoting what they said, i have no expertise in this! I did have a go on their kit & i was impressed – nice & compact (important) & can be run through headphones too (even more important).

He played at the Great British Beer Festival a few years back. I remember very little apart from the fact that he plays a mean acoustic guitar & has a great voice.

You can set it up so that the cardholder/ parent has to authorise any app download, free or paid. Works well.

    According to this link:
    http://www.ukradon.org/information/level
action is required. Talk to you local authority environmental health dept/ building control. If you are living in a Radon affected area above the trigger levels, they should be able to give good advice.

If you’re stripping the roof I can recommend this :
    http://www.tlxgold.co.uk
It’s a breathable felt & multi-foil insulation in one. Creates a warm roof & you can improve u values by insulating between rafters from the underside or above using a PIR or even just rockwool. Shouldn’t create any issues with levels where you abut the neighbours roof as the battens will pinch the multi foil ( I have been reliably informed).
I have seen quite a few installations of this over the years (I’m a building control surveyor) & I have been impressed with it.
    Their tech helpline is good.

This stuff works. Make sure you’ve got a fresh horizontal cut, drill some holes in the top of the cut, pour it into the holes & wrap with a plastic bag secured with something. Go out & ride your bike.

Saw them on their Back in Black tour at Hammersmith Odeon, it was Brian Johnsons debut tour with the the band I think & they were amazing. Lots of time has passed since then, I’m sure they’re still great live but the venue will be the
difference, I reckon. Not sure how much energy Angus has left…see them while you can I reckon.

Recaredo always hits the spot with me – much better than a lot of Champagnes. Not sure how available it is over here though.

I used to work for a consulting engineers as a draughtsman doing RC & steelwork detailing, before the days of CAD. Got fed up drawing straight lines all day long & waking up in the middle of the night with a head full of dimensions. Now a Chartered Engineer & have been working as a Building Control Surveyor for the last 26 years 8O. Very varied work with a good mix of site & office. Can be quite confrontational at times! I’m currently going through a bit of a change of heart now, at (almost) 50. Would quite like to do something completely different myself, outside of the construction industry, not sure what though……

Really enjoying it. I’m up to episode 6 I think. Beautifully shot, beautifully paced, a lot more laughs in it than Breaking Bad. Every episode is a film in itself. Great TV.

Did it a few years ago for my mum, who is suffering from dementia. Financial power of attorney set up, to stop the scum from preying on a vulnerable person. As I recall it wasn’t difficult at all to do, just comprehensive form filling & no solicitors involved. Once in possession of the document, I think the most long winded process was dealing with the banks etc.
I would recommend everybody to set up POA, whilst in possession of your marbles, as the subject of POA has to fully understand what they are signing. Saves a lot of heartache if it’s set up – dementia is a massive problem for our ageing population.

This does it for me. Still the most exciting intro track to a live rock album, bar none.
