How could you do that with another man! Shocking, absolutely shocking.

Avoid a Honda accord tourer. I have a six year old one and the rear brakes destroy discs, rear calipers seize, tailgat stopped opening (luckily picked up under extended warranty but £800 repair otherwise), abs/vsa control unit failed. Apart from that it’s great. I really expect a far more reliable car from Honda.

What’s good about a sectional door?

It won’t fit in my boot, one of the tension wires has snapped, I’d have a large gaping hole whilst it was being powder coated, I’d need to remove all the locks, etc, so not really worth the hassle.

Having looked at the other thread it looks like it’ll be easier to make an up and over door secure – a lot cheaper too. Roller doors are a lot more weather proof though. Mmm tough middle class decision.

i’ve had ‘nanas fall out of my jersey pockets.
your pockets aren’t safe/secure places either – stay at home!
(and i’d never be able to fit a banana worth eating in my saddle bag)

I always buy jerseys with an extra zip pocket as I don’t fancy sticking my phone in an open pocket.

Genuine answer, they look gash/pants/amateur and sound like cow bells when the contents have been removed.

Hate to break this to you but you are an amateur not a pro. I don’t really worry how my arundel pack sounds with the contents removed as I’m unlikely to ride the bike without its contents. Sometimes I use a seat pack and sometimes I don’t, I don’t get hung up on how it looks.

I’m not likely to take style tips from a boy who wears a kom jersey.

Saddle bags are horrible, and not just cause they look awful. When you’re out of the saddle they make the bike feel like a pile of crap.

A tiny seat pack makes your bike feel like crap? Really, you must have a shit bike

Mind you I notice you wear a casquette rather than a plain old cap so you clearly know what you’re talking about. I would imagine you also have bidons rather than plain old water bottles.

    Pretentious, never. 🙄

To be honest 30-40 miles a week isn’t a lot of riding and at the speed you’re doing you’re barely doing 3 hours riding – not a great deal of time to get bike fit.

But yeh road bikes are quicker than mountain bikes with slicks.

Any more recommendation from the day shift?

Not quite the level of security I’m after 😉

Had a look at tusk but they only hold one bike, I’ve got quite a few bikes to organise so would prefer a rack that takes 2. The hoists are okay but makes security a bit of an issue.

Thanks for the info folks, keep it coming. Thanks highlandman, I’ve had a look at the website already kinda like the idea of doing it out with an event though.

Yeh I know the rules, still great service.

No, but you both may be waking home, for failing to take out the crrect insurance policy for your vehicle, and invalidating your insurance.

My god man you need to lighten up, step down from your high horse, wake up and smell the coffee AND take a reality check.

thats because she is sitting at home, and delivers at night, after work, using a vehicle, that is not insured to carry goods for profit, or buisness use.
and probably not declareing the income to the tax man.

Shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit, that’s awful, it really is. Still great service. And is it was a mobile telephone number she may not having been sitting at home, eating biscuits and coming up with other criminal plots.

Sometimes, very occasionally I use my own car to drive to a business meeting.

Will I meet the delivery woman in hell?

Very good experience with yodel here. Came home to a ‘sorry you were out’ card last night, delivery attempted at 5:45. Got home late so called the mobile number on the card this morning, woman answered ‘how about between 8pm-9pm tonight’ and just delivered now. That’s great service.

I think you can get used to them. I’ve been here 5 years now, and while they still irritate me, and I do get a lot of bites, it’s not the misery it used to be.

Really, I’ve lived in Scotland for 45 years and they’re still utter ****.

Yep I use gore cables on my commuter, great cables, no need to drill out the cable guides.

I always say a hello when I pass folk. There’s nothing worse than passing folk who all of a sudden change their pace just because theyve beeb passed. I don’t know you and I don’t want to race you thanks very much.

I can confirm the deet based stuff we bought worked very dry well. We had skin so soft with us, worked for about 30 seconds.

Is it the West Highland Way Race that sparked your hankering?

No not all, I didn’t even know it existed until Monday. I walked a bit of the whw at the weekend and the idea came into my head.

Only glove I’ve found that’s properly waterproof is extremities tough bags. They are mitts but just a paclite shell so would be fine if you needed to wear them in summer. I use them commuting in heavy rain and they’ve lasted well.

Thanks for the info mcwyc. Does a rucksack not rub or bounce around and start to annoy after a few miles? I wouldn’t be doing the west highland way run as an event just a personal challange. It’s 96 miles.

Yeh I agree about the head thing but I’m fairly strong mentally and don’t give up easily.

From what I’ve read 20 mile back to back runs seems to be the kind of distance people are doing for training. That’s handy as I live 20 miles from my office.

I would have thought a bum bag would be the best way to carry stuff. I would have support crew though.

Why go to such great effort of making your bike sparkling clean to only get it completly filthy after an hours ride

You appear to lack the basic understanding that different people like different things. Some peaople like having clean cars, bikes, house and some don’t. It’s not really difficult to grasp is it.

    pebblebeach

I don’t get you’re point. I know why the store couldn’t get the bike I originally ordered, that wasn’t the question I asked.

Mmm only things I’m looking to upgrade are the bar/stem/seatpost to enve kit but I don’t think the shop stock it. Doesn’t come with pedals but want speedplay zero but again not sure they stock them

Might try for some shorts or helmet maybe.

    pebblebeach

    Not niche at all.

I’m sure the shop are doing their best and it’s not their fault but it’s still a long time to wait particularly when I’ve been told at least 3 estimated delivery dates.

Should I ask for some extras thrown in if so what sort of value shoulid I be looking at for freebies? Orinal bike cost £2100 and upgraded to £2700 model by the manufacturer not the shop.

    pebblebeach

The manufacturer have met the cost of the upgrade as the 2012 bike I ordered sold out everywhere. I was advised first week in may that ‘the bike is on its way from focus’, is someone riding it from Germany then.

I just put the seat right forward, it is fine.
til the airbag goes off and snaps your neck.

Mmmm no one thought through the design then or are you saying its based on people of average height.

My sisters ping sized and she manages just fine in any car she’s tried.

Umm it’s a forum, you respond to posts. Might not always be what people want to hear.
