Must be exhausting to be that bitter.

au contraire dear chap, I exude joie de vivre, hence why I don’t get dragged down by mediocrity.

It sounds like the smart arse whining typical of teenagers that think they know everything

Ah resorting to name calling, top work old boy.

we’re now on the last one doing A levels. Managing on rides and dog walks this time,

    jesus wept, get a grip.

Sometimes it can be very very hard being extremely middle class, I understand the pressure you must be under. Working part time must be tough too, all the time having to manage the fragile lives of others around you.

And it’s a shame that whilst you can’t be bothered to hold down a full time job (which you would also hate), your selfish family make you change your plans, in your own generous free time, to suit them.

Perhaps tonight you should have a family meeting around the log burner. And f you have time today, and I know this may mean you reschedule your diary, you could pop to the farmers market for a shin of beef or pork belly for tonight. I find that bonds a family together and can cut through the stresses and strains of everyday middle class ‘life’.
I do hope you’re okay and I will now add your angst and self-pity to me ever growing list of worries.

Failing sorting it out myself, will give up on achieving my first complete bike build – got it booked in for a once over at my LBS next week.

Its a simple fix, just take the cables out, look at the routing and try again.

    Gear cable installation seems fine,

It won’t be. I had the same issue when I fitted mine. Cable installation appears tricky but you then get that ‘ah ha that’s it’ moment and its simple.

Yeh it looks nice and all that and I can see the appeal but the most capable road bike they’ve ever made – I don’t think so. And its for people who want to ride roads but don’t want to road ride – sorry but wtf is that supposed to mean? Is it aimed at mountain bikers who can’t get over themselves?

The bike for people who want to ride roads without having to “road-ride”

The most all-around capable “road” bike we’ve ever made

Both those statements would make me want to avoid that bike like the plague.

Something like the pragmasis Anti-pich pin would work with a padlock at the bottom of it. Not sure of the diameter but you may be able to buy one and get it machined down to suit.

Would be nice if it was smaller. I don’t want to have a tablet in my pocket

Yep same here. I don’t want anything bigger than a 5 so I’ll stick with that.

However it hasn’t stopped my isa going all over the place the last week.

A stocks & shares ISA needs to be part of a long term investment plan, you don’t get out after things go pear shaped. Leave the money in there, let it recover.

You were squashed against the kerb and you took a hand off the bars to thump the van?

Its normally end of the month plus the usually send an extra 10% off email before the sale ends. There’s a couple of things I’d like but I’m not bothered if I miss them so holding out for the extra 10%.

I love offending the head up their own arse roadie types (I also wear baggies)

You do know ‘they’ actually couldn’t care less and in real life absolutely no one is offended. You do know that don’t you?

See, this is the bit I want to avoid, especially as she uses it once a week (at least) for a 20 mile each way commute through, basically the middle of nowhere.

So she’s done over 6000 miles on them then? I would say they could probably do with being replaced.

I like Dalbeattie but I’ve been going there since the ‘man made’ stuff was built so it does hold something special for my I guess. I still go fairly often and its usually fairly quiet, which is a good thing as I would hate to go on a trail with a constant stream of riders – I like to escape.

The only thing I don’t like is the amount of boardwalk – I just don’t get what’s so good about riding over planks covered in chicken wire.

And every time I go the widow maker brings back a lot of memories.

If the tread has started to break up and is full of holes and cuts then its time to replace.

If the tyre is puncturing more then this would suggest they need replaced.

Can’t say how long a tyre lasts – too many variables.

No, I’ll just go back to itunes match.

i bet a lot of people use up their data by accident but i know that happened with spotify too

I had an itunes match subscription for the last few years so always played music using my data allowance anyway. I never get anywhere near using all my data allowance and recently switched from ‘all you can eat’ data to 2gb a month.

First few weeks of using my music and I’ve used 1.7gb. Not sure what it’s doing differently to itunes match, it was always set up the same as my music.

refund has come out of my paypal account, but ebay account still says i have a balance to pay.

I’ve noticed that myself if I’ve cancelled a sale. Its just the way ebay works so I wouldn’t worry about it.

I’d still like to know what the buyer has said that makes you think he’s received the item.

One decent wet road ride picking up bits of grit in your blocks is usually enough to trash any carbon rim. Worth bearing in mnd.

This is complete and utter nonsense. You clearly don’t have any experience of carbon wheels.

FWIW judging by the guy’s messages he has received the item

If if that obvious then report to ebay. Oh hold on you cant, you’ve cancelled your account 🙂

I wouldn’t post anything with choosing the ‘signature required’ option. You have proof of postage but have no proof of receipt so you’re screwed.

As others have said I find the interface a touch confusing and I struggle to play a full album in order – although I think I’ve got the hang of that now.

I like what it does but I don’t like how it does it.

I’m on the free trial until mid October so we’ll see how it goes.

can no longer find the “random” button.

As in shuffle all songs? Tap the arrow until it shows songs, tap play then the shuffle icon. Its not very clear at all though.

And yes you will have touched the auto repeat button, its not hard to do that.

Yeh I know about quidco, its 3% for halfords though. Thought this might have been something else.

I bought the trolley and top box a few months ago on an offer before the middle box became available so I was waiting for another 10% off to complete the set. Got it for £145.80 plus 3% cashback on the £180.

For the hard of thinking, the correct procedure in this situation is KEEP DRIVING TO THE NEXT GAS STATION.

Do they have gas stations in Lothianburn? And what if you needed ‘gas’ right there, right then, carry on till you run out of fuel?

Well generally if you know you’re going left a bit further on you wouldn’t sit in the right hand lane at a set of lights where there’s long queue of traffic. Unless you made a genuine mistake. Most people know they’re in the wrong lane, which they are, but hope to force their way in.

If you know the area then you’re most definitely in the wrong lane.

    pebblebeach

related one that gets me on way home, in Glasgow, heading for M8 from Dobbies Loan area. There is a left filter off for the M8, with a set of lights about 200m before it.

You’re missing some vital bits of information from your post. The lights are a lot more than 200m from the merge, there’s generally a high volume of traffic pulling out of the side road just before the merge, the outside lane is straight on only, it’s not a merge in turn situation, you’re trying to force your way into a line of stationary or very slow moving traffic. Both lanes at the lights are signaled ‘ahead’ but you’re going left a wee bit further on.

So you are in the wrong lane but still expect people to let you in.

folk behind in the right lane, who are going straight on, get angry..

Again because you were in the wrong lane to start with. I’ve seen police move drivers along from sitting in that lane on quite a few occasions.

But to be fair that whole stretch from Dobbies down to the M8 slip is badly designed.

How rubbish do you need to be

I don’t consider someone to be ‘rubbish’ because they can’t pass exams.

ho ho look at the stupid people with no qualifications, I’m so much better than them.

And to add to that my son needed 3 BBB’s to get into uni, he got BBC but he’s had a dreadful year – starting with a seizure (caused by undiagnosed type 1 diabetes) which resulted in a broken cheekbone, diagnosed with type 1 diabetes and the death of a family member – all in the lead up to his exmas. Thankfully the university were more understanding than the OP.
