    Hi Pezzers,

It is a 2009 last of the Litespeed versions. I am 5ft 11″ and the 18″ is fine.

The new version is Lynskey made as are the ones for £1199 on Ebay.

As far as chainsuck is concerned – Shimano rings with a 50mm chain line is the best option.

Hi, I have a 2009 18″ full bike on Ebay at the minute. I would be willing to sell just the frame only though which came from Moonglu. I have the receipt available. The bike has not been ridden as I have been riding my 2002 Rocky mountain Blizzard the last few years.

Anymore details, just get in touch

Currently using new old stock Kona Equibrilum and Propulsion tyres circa 1991/92 from a store in Canada. No problems so far although the first folded version did explode but that was my fault for inflating it too much too soon.

    Nuke,

I had the same problem an recently changed from the AA to ehome who will cover individual components/parts at home even over £10k as long as they are listed individually. This applies to high end bikes also.

Only problem is, they cover at home only-not away from home.

I contacted Cove regards the chainsuck issue on the Litespeed version and they recommended using Shimano chainrings especially the middle ring as Race Face rings with the extra ramps caused this.

Is this correct or can you recommend a chainset to prevent damaging the frame?

17,18 and 19"s were available in the previous and new versions.

Lynskey now design and construct the 2010 frames.

See review previously in What Mountain Bike on Bike Radar

I would have thought an 18" would be the right size

    Pjay,

Have you considered a Rocky Mountain Blizzard?

Depends what size you are looking for but Merlin still have 18"s in stock for less than £400.

I have a brand new immaculate 18" frame built up for sale so could offer you the frame plus some components for less than £400.

Let me know if you are interested.

Had 2, the first was a 98 2.0 SAAB 9-5 SE LPT currently got the 06 1.9 diesel estate, very good economy and safety NCAP 5 but not as well built as the latter.

As far as advice, I would buy privatley with FSH and get the car for the best money you can as they depreciate like nothing else.

Things to check on the old models include the sump issue, make sure they have had Mobil 1 from day one or have had the sump dropped and cleaned. The reverse gear is also prone to breaking as I found out from experience and is expensive to fix.

I have a brand new Haynes manual for the petrol if you decide to buy and some THULE roof bars.

I have some brand new old stock Kona parts to fit if you decide to get a replacement built including replica 1996 decal sets, Kona Control Centre headets, Kona cable guides (dog collars), Kona Curve brake sets, Kona Velocity stem etc.

I would get Dave Yates to build a replica using the exact geometry from your current frame if it really must be identical including the tube spec etc.

I would not worry though, I still have my 1992 Kilauea and it is still going strong.
