Cheers buddy, wasn't expecting dh/fr but 600m + down to sea level might sway me a little.
Don't think i'll mention the nightlife to the other half!

The terrain rises up straight from Bol – in theory it looks very promising

What is Bol like as a base (other half is non biking)?

ooohhh getting all exited now – somewhere different from the alps this year for a change…… maybe

Lol @ barrykellett…. gotta side with the wife on that one – as long as she doesn't make a habit of it 😆

Did it look (biking) promising? and did you get a ferry from Split?

Sorry but no…… it's all secret

but apart from those there really is nothing to touch leigh woods on a dry day mid summer with local knowledge.

had a conversation on this last week – a cousin from the north gets freaked out by the proximity of the trees and the constant uppydowny when riding with us.

Personally, i'm not fond of trails where you can see where you're going for miles….. but it's all riding so it's all good…. just different!

But our cousins from the north dont have the benefit of the mind altering beverage that is Black Rat cider….. google it 😉

I have an 06 grand scenic (co.car) and i love it!
8" longer than the standard scenic – was the reason for choosing it!
put 2 dh bikes in the back, upright minus front wheels and all the kit with the back seats folded down (have never used seats 6&7) – have slept in it comfortably with rear seats out!
    storage compartments everywhere!
40+ mpg, 130dci so quite pokey, been to the alps a few times fully laden, very comfy (soft) ride and nice seat position.

only gripe is heater/aircon performance…. apart from that nowt at all
Ron Skinners in south wales were a good place to buy slightly used ones.

Earphone socket went kaput…. took it apart, wires and bits of plastic fell out… doh! That'll learn me….
Heard shocking stories about Apple service but have seen specific i-pod repair sites circa £40 ish.

    Any experiences of these?

I can fix most things …. except electronics!

cheers_drive, any chance we can have more photos…. with a suitable measuring device adjacent to give us a sense of scale?

Maybe it'll stop me making dumbass statements (1.5 – 1.125 when i meant otherwise)and people far cleverer than i picking up on it.

Can you post results after you've rang the perp? We need to know….

    Shocking!
Needs more pics but first impression was 1.5 forks ground down possibly?
    (could that actually be done)?

Regardless, Allport needs to come up with answers and re-imburse for new uppers…………

1996, Walking down the to the pub to watch Euro 96, hear a screaming engine….. Mini flies up the road, clips the roundabout (2ft high), mounts the pavement opposite me and knocks down the bus stop much to the horror of the 6 people stood there!!!
As the car went passed i saw the driver with her head bent backwards over the seat…..
i ran in the nearest shop and got Them to call the emergency services then set off up the road after her.

She had made it around the bend before her engine seized having ripped out the sump at the bus stop and people were helping her out of the car.

She was very elderly and asked "was i going a little fast back there"?

…… HER RIGHT FOOT HAD A PLASTER CAST ON IT !!

Policeman suggested she wouldn't be driving again …… saw her a month later driving the same car!!!….. go figure?

    Check out these threads…..
I wouldnt go in August and even July is getting dodgy (thanks Mayor) – dont know what effect (if any)the death of the English biker last summer will have on attitudes?

As for the riding……. steep, technical, rocky & rooty…. with very big drops!…. you cant compare to PDS – wat too different.
I love it there but it's been getting way too expensive – 6 bucks for a beer!

I wear a fs 260 with a frontline baselayer and ultralite gilet (when really cold) during the winter most of the time (unless it's chucking down).
it's a brilliant 3 season top – very adaptable and looks good in a roadie/lycra sort of way.

    It's a "top" top!

I was kicked nearly unconscious by one of the school bullies in an unprovoked attack when i was about 15.
The lad was a neighbour who i had known all my life so was all the more unexpected!
I now work "babysitting" circa 200 men in the construction industry and only 3 weeks ago as one of them is threatening to "kick my f£$%^ing head in" because i had the audacity to enquire as to why he was smoking and on his phone when he should be working, i was the picture of restraint (despite my instinct to lump him first).

    My point?

use restraint and make sure you are protected by due process……… and then when there are no witnesses…….. let him have some!

Despite the rights and wrongs expressed by the liberal element of society (especially on here)…. It is the ONLY thing the bully will relate to and subsequently respect.

As for me, how will i react if i see my bully again?……. even after 30 years he'll be on his arse before any pleasantries can be exchanged…….. and he would be expecting it!

Got my Palmer pulse from Chaineaction (Yes THAT Chainreaction)….. very good deal at the time. i'm 5'9" and ride a 158cm – Imperial & metric eh)!

Off to Austria in January and could do with a more "advanced" board now…. & i did like the look of that 1.5k Burton on the gadget show…. and there is a great review on the Whitelines website on a new transparent (aerospace grade)plastic board from the states.

    Second that nickegg!

Box deserves our support for those very reasons….. no BS, knows his stuff, stocks the "right" stuff and nice guy (good mate)as well.

Think he'll make a killing if he advertises pre summer and Mendip gets some of the southwest investment money. Think he'll be wise to hire bikes as well (although it could do with easier access on to the hills).

Oh yes, and it's the sort of shop that is just nice to chill in…. which helps.
