No matter how much you may want to….. DO NOT google images of “boobs and cake”…. all that sugar will make you go blind 😉

This thread is brilliant! Only today my other half said i “wanted my cake and eat it” toooooo right!
Oh dear god I’ve just had a Sophie’s choice moment….. Kylie or cake?

…. sits back and waits for the “down with this sort of thing” trolls!

Ok, positive……Better cafe/bike facilities and no more (hopefully) of the miserable anti biking gits who run the cafe at the mo.
    That’s about it really….
Ashton court/Timberland has, since inception “flowed” the wrong way and in the current direction around the perimeter is pants!I wonder if direction signs will spring up?
As for putting an “all” weather track through Leigh Woods …..it’s akin to building a motorway through Chew Valley……. but then it’ll need to accommodate all of the “extra” traffic…..
Oh, and it will be £1.20 for a cup of hot water with a teabag in it!
There you go, a bit of negativity for balance purposes….. but i am resigned to the fact that change is inevitable 🙁

yet nothing news wise on the MBWales website to say that the CYB visitors centre is closed!!
call me old fashioned but surely it’s times like this that local conditions/closures etc need to be highlighted?
Ahh well, there’s always Cader Idris to walk up – unless that’s closed as well!
    😯

2.1 Nevegal UST’s F&R….. pretty good all year round tyres. Actually size up a proper 2.1 unlike a lot of tyres (eg. Panaracer).

….. but for some reason they do seem to be a bit Marmite for a lot of peeps

Thanks guys but it’s the OD of the bars that is the problem – 19mm – not the OD of the grips.
even the shifters and brakes have shims in the clamps!

I seem to recall in my DH racing days a certain Steve Jones (of Dirt mag fame) flying past me wearing wellies at a race in FOD.
I think he won but the sheep were scared!

Best check with a Spesh dealer.
Had to change mine recently (S-works carbon integrated) and just by luck they had some in stock that another customer didn’t collect.
I believe it’s something to do with the angle of the bearing chamfer that has to be compatible….. but i’m no bearing expert.
    ps. they weren’t cheap either!!!!!!!!

Frustrating as it is, R&R is the only way.
I’d be concerned if i had a cough for a couple of months, second opinion time methinks especially if it is a dry, non productive cough.
might just need some stronger anti-bios???

martinxyz +1….. that wave is truly humbling.
a 2ft at Croyde is enough to make me have more than a little respect for the power of the ocean. Those guys deserve huge respect just for being out there.
Anyone know what the break is?….. seem to recall something about a huge rock shelf????

But then Elfinsafety has a point. rather than add anything to the thread (thought i was by adding support to oldgit?)… i really should have started a totally seperate and pointless thread entitled…… “OOH OOH, LOOK AT ME, LOOK AT ME”!!!!

    +1 for oldgit!
Just cant believe i’ve just wasted 20 minutes of my life reading this load of bllx thread which i hoped would have been an interesting debate – but in true singletrack fashion has been hijacked by the attention seekers on here!

It’s added nothing but to highlight the fact that
    A. some folk on here are really up themselves
    B. don’t have a clue what they are talking about
    And
C.need to get out more on Friday nights!

    You know who you are!

Crotchrocket, i’ve had both and the powder coating is much more durable. I know some peeps dont like the “fact” that it is oven baked and could affect the integrity of the frame……allegedly!
Once had a beautiful Argos flamboyant red paint re spray on my old Kona – looked fantastic until i rode it and it ended up with chips everywhere .

    Sancho – wtf is Xylan?

Just picked up my old Kona frame from ABC in Nailsea (nr Bristol)…£40 cash inc shot blast and basic masking ( i always put in some old BB cups).
dearer than it used to be but bombproof finish – ideal for MTB’S

PS, No need to strip it if it’s being blasted

Couple of mates missed the turn for Merlet on the holy trail and ended up down in Servoz… not much fun getting back if they wont let you on the train and a bitch of a ride back up with a DH bike! That'll learn em! 😈

looks great on the map but as i'm a lazy git i'll be giving it a miss!

Bel Lachat is great…….very tight at the top and opens up when you get to the tree line.
Really hard work with triple clamps due to tightness/steepness and regularity of the switchbacks at the top.

Last year signs appeared at Brevent forbidding riding in the reserve… efectively ruling out Bel Lachat and the Holy trail (Aguillettes des houches)….. not sure if this was just for July/August? (i was there end of June).
I'm there on the 11th (hopefully)…….. report back asap if you can?

What ever you do, DO NOT be tempted to ride from Bel Lachat to Merlet on the GR5…. it looks great on the map but is pretty unrideable and very dangerous in places IMHO.

    heihei……… wow, thanks you're a star!
As comprehensive a report as you could wish for.
Now if only everyone around here was that helpful! 😉

I'm thinking the lifts stay open until the 19th Sept?

Full on DH is my bag but i hate all this "north shore" stuff (cant ride it)! – just how much/gnarly is there?

    Ben…… fantastic news!

Now fellow STWers, what are we going to do about the thieving little scrote?
    (or what can we do)?

And what of the nice "ebayers" that have purchased stolen goods?

We have the collective ability to bring a hacking website to it's knees so i'm sure we are all capable of some form of input.

    suggestions please……….

Lardman….. go for the new DH bike…….. you will NOT regret it.

2 years ago at the Mega I took my DH (Azonic Recoil – 8") & my "freeride" (Ram AM 6")……. rode the Ram once and went straight back to the DH. Same in Chamonix last year even if it can be a pain getting around some of the switchbacks with triple clamps.

I have no preference or frame of reference for the latest crop of DH bikes but i'd go for the Spesh as you'd get peace of mind with your size/any warranty issues……. and then get it tuned to your weight/riding style….. and the sales should be on soon – if there's any left?

Ps. I no longer race DH but i will never be without a DH bike…. and as for the peeps who say you wont need 8" ………. 🙄

I have the same problem as the OP… even got a rubber bit stuck in there recently!!
However, on the bike i use these… cheap as chips and still allow you to hear people speak-ish…. and the most comfortable ones I've tried…

    They ain't all that
i had a problem earlier this year – their attitude beggared belief.
worked out i had spent at least 6k with them in the last 8 years (does that make me a good customer?)
either way, i wont be a "good" customer again.

And as for quick delivery….. it makes sense to dispatch stock asap after payment to make room….. i would suggest it has more to do with their order/work load or the ability of the courier!

    Bristol way?
ABC Powdercoaters in Nailsea – had about 6 frames done there so far.
Bombproof finish but you have to mask / clean some faces after.

DH frame last year – front triangle/swing arms x 2/ fork lowers and crowns x2/2xcranks in white + MRP in Black (3 pieces) £45 inc shotblasting.

Bargaintastic (even with having to clean out bearing faces etc)

Mr A – you're thinking of Ivo Obregon and yes you're right, he was responsible for some of the "better" trails around here.

As for the Knicker trail, i wish you'd call by it's proper name – Jerry's trail (after local rider Jer Humphries…. first man to clean it!

And the off camber trail to the left of picnic bench is called Chamonix….. apparently

Oh yes, nearly forgot, i remember when 50 acre was just god old Porn trail…….. Ah, good days…

Sorry to hear that but unfortunately because it's less than a year there's not a lot you can do……… unless…….. it was because you complained about not receiving a contract of employment (which should be issued within 2 months of starting if memory serves me right)?

I'm in HR ish and i would suggest that you ring ACAS pdq. Freephone and free impartial advice…. i speak to them regularly to give me a different (non employer} view of things!

The direct gov website is also very good for info.

without the specifics there are too many variables with these things.
