i need to do this too mate. LBS told me it was a pretty complicated job to get right without the correct tools but i’ve read otherwise on the net. something to go inside the hose to stop you from crushing it and a sharp razor blade seems to be the ghetto method of choice. but as i said – no experience yet…

haha, good point. carry a spare roll in case then. you’ll probably get stopped for that too though!

i thought the quid to pee thing was up and running now.

i presume there will still be something to fasten the standing passengers to so why not take more people.

as much as i hate Ryan Air, this guy’s got some business brain.

Perhaps we need some grade expansion.

as in more colour to further confuse people and for others to complain about? sounds like a very bad idea to me. the green-blue-red-black-orange system works perfectly well in ski resorts so why should it not at trail centres?

the main problem is that people compare centres to each other; what is black at a TC like degla for instance would only be a red at other places (especially scottish centres). but in terms of what is currently offered up at degla they have the main xc loop graded red, for it’s distance and some technical sections, and then the additional black sections which are for more advanced riders. nothing wrong with how it’s graded IMO.

having said that i’ve heard that the FC are curerntly looking at the grading system of all TC’s in the UK and soon will formalise classifications based on the 1/2/3 traffic light like circles seen on the glentress FR park.

it’s a funny one Llandegla, it always divides people. personally i quite enjoy it and always found it to be quite entertaining, if not the most challenging of trail centres. the new stuff promises to be interesting.

but then again i struggle not to have fun when i’m out riding…

Enduro MAX bearings supposed to be the best for low rotation piviots such as suspension on mtbs.

    get em from here null

i replaced mine with cheapo dual seal ones from simplybearing or similar and in the end i think i saved all of ten quid so next time i’m going to just get these. but they do seem to work fine for now.

I found WA (and australia in general) was great for it’s variety of microbreweries. must be something to do with perth being one of the most isolated cities in the world.

look out for brews from Matilda Bay brewing co. Redback, Bohemian Pilsner and Dogbolter. yummy!

they were stopping people with snowboard helmets attached to the backs of backpack and in carry-on bags when i flew back from grenoble earlier in the year so i wouldnt even think about not putting it in my baggage to check in.

Odysseus’ Last Stand by Dave Stamboulis is a great book that makes me dream about getting on a bike to do some cycle touring. About a guy that rode from Japan back to West Coast US via Asia & Europe
    http://www.odysseuslaststand.com/

Also Tim Butcher’s Blood River was a great read. Follows Victorian explorer H Stanley’s route through the Republic of Congo. Probably one of the remainin few places still relatively untouched by the modern world.

i’ve only done SITS last year and the Dyfi this year that fall into the enduro cat.

i would say that the Catton course was alright for those that want to just keep hammering the laps out. the windy singletrack through the wooded section was nice when dry and didnt bottleneck too much after the first few laps. i also liked the off-camber descent that dropped back into the village, mainly because it was muddy and the proper xc boys didnt know how to cope with it so i could just blast past about 20 at a time!

dyfi was too much firetrack if you ask me. i got quite bored at times. great descents mind, but lots of bottlenecking. don’t really know how you’d get around this being in a forest.

there should be a toolbar on the left that allows you to create a route/add various points.

if it’s for plotting a ride have a look at mapmywalk.com – just found this today and it’s better than googlemaps

dave c, of course i do – i’m always wary of busses pulling in or out, who wouldn’t be. as he overtook me he started to pull over, basically making sure there was nowhere for me to go except up the kirb. he knew exactly what he was doing and was his payback for having to wait a whole three seconds before setting off again at the previous bus stop as i got passed him.

and the bus was full it was the 85 from manchester at about 530! full of witnesses no doubt.

yeah looking back maybe i should have taken the bus number but i was blinded by the red mist! was quite tempted to drag him off the bus but he was bigger than me

ok, i’ve got one for you:

was on the commute home last week and turned left onto the main road where a bus was dropping off/picking up. no sign of movement out so move out into the oncoming lane but as i do so he indicates to move out but has to halt as he then sees me putting the power down to get passed (already halfway up the bus & in oncoming traffic).

anyway i make it passed him and move kerbside to allow him to pass. which he does. at the next bus stop he then decides to move right in front of me as he pulls over to the bus stop, causing me to have to mount the pavement in order to prevent being squished. i pull up to the door of the now stationary bus and ask the driver what he was doing – he obviously knew i was there from the previous incident. at which he blatently tells me that he f’kin hate cyclists, they always cut him up, shouldn’t be on the road and that he did what he did on purpose. returned fire with my own barrage of abuse (not suitable for the forum) and then jumped back on the road in front of him at a speed of approx 5mph.

all my mates said i shouldve shopped him – but i was a bit skeptical about whether that would have achieved anything. was i right??

sounds like air in the system somewhere. make sure the pistons are pushed back in place before you bleed. tap hoses to losen any possible bubbles holding on to the side.

and what i find most effective is to push a whole load of fluid through the system, effectively replacing all of the fluid each time i need to bleed.

other than that i’ve never had any problems with these brakes so don’t know.

michaelwright is that you? that’s nuts mate!

there’s a quarry nearby that we sometimes go playing in – have spotted a vert section with a tranny at the bottom (about 15ft). needs to be cut away a little as there’s a bit of an overhang towards the end but it can and will be conquered!!
