At the time i liked the little shop in Newhey that shared premises with the car mechanics place, shame that closed down.

i bought my first proper bike from the owner of that shop. what was it called??

discovered at SITS that cadbury's buttons & bannana make a great combo!

Chocolate and banana have always worked together – nothing new there

well they were enlightening after i got back to the camp after 2 hours of hammering it around in the dew on the sunday morning. and there's something special about buttons. and half melted buttons are even better!

got some of these last week because i'm fed up of having a soggy ass from wearing cotton shorts. lightweight & quick drying & baggy. and cheap. and they have a liner – what more do you want?

i get mine from the local veggie store, not that i'm that way inclined – it's just much cheaper for stuff like that and i buy all my fruit & nut type things from there.

as i said, i seem to go through at least a couple of sets of outers a year. i have no problem with shifting using XTR or the like but i was just wondering whether systems such as the NOKON/i-links would, at a price roughly double that of the XTR, far outlive them. if i can pay £40 for the initial set up now and get a few years out of them as some people do i would be interested!

yeah that's exactly what a few people have said on other forums. i presume that once you have got it sorted and compressed into place it'll stay there and eliminate the possibility of ghost shifting. i'll be running full outer on the rear, did you get enough links to stretch the distance?

cheers for the info people. it seems that they have both positive and negative reviews across the board. i've been on mtbr.com that some people had problems setting up system and the i-link was prone to ghost shifting when the bars were turned due to the ball and socket joint compressing. any experience of that NJEE20?

just read the whole thread and out of the two choices you seem to have narrowed it down to go to peebles for GT and Inners!

fly to bc for a few months riding, getting your van sorted/kitted out etc then go south. washington, idaho, utah, nevada, cali, arizona for a few months, accumulating bike spares and things that would be harder to find on the final stage of your trip which would involve some doubtless amazing riding (and cultural experiences) in the likes of peru, bolivia, chilie.

    can i come?

oh, and why is it 'cool' on this forum for the answer to this question to be HT??? i just don't get it.

    peachos
    Free Member

ridden only an FS for the past 15 months before i recently built up a second bike which was a HT. the HT is great, i love riding it because you have to ride differently to compensate for the lack of 'hammer through it-ability'. but having ridden on the HT lots it has made me appreciate how good my FS actually is.

for me, both bikes behave and handle differently and i wouldn't want to sacrifice one for the other or vice versa. i don't really choose which bike to ride depending on where i will be riding, more on what i want to get out of that particular ride (but ultimately, which of the two is actually working…)

i used to work at a place called fergburger in queenstown, NZ and they are regarded by many to be the best burgers in the world; we even had some whacky american fatty fly over just to try one!!!!

the beefburgers there were simply high quality nz beef pattys all made by (generally japanese) hand on site. no seasoning or anything was added.

the secret was in the sauces, which again were all made on site from the freshest & best ingredients. have a gander at their site for the menu.

yeah, i think i've sussed most of the movie maker tools, don't like their trannys much though. i just think that there must be miles better software. here's my latest, not quite as gnar as jumping j's, effort. (shot on crap point n shoots unfortunately)

hooks or burrs will be causing your chainsuck yes. you might be able to get away with flipping your granny over (err….) depending on how much your chain is worn but if you've got this far without replacing the chain might be new drivechain time.

    top vid & great skills

makes me regret not going to visit my mate who was living in morzine until last week.

out of interest, anyone who's making such videos – what's the best software to use? i've made a few for my club using the standard microsoft movie maker, which is quite a powerful little tool for a freebie but am at it's limits now.

and you suppose i can't ride because??? i ride peaks trails day & night summer & winter and consider myself a fairly competent rider and can hoon it with all the best of them…even with my crappy 300 Lumens light :D.

i just think that people have got a bit wrapped up in having the best light on the market when actually these are way overpowered. of course the 4LEDs are well designed and give off an excellent spread of light but night riding is a lot about honing skills that you can take through to daytime riding; spotting obstacles a couple of metres in front, making a decision on how to tackle them before quickly focusing on the next one. of course you're still doing this with the brighter lights but the extra power makes the range of vision much greater and therefore decreases the amount skill needed to conquer descents at speed.

    Eh

you just do't need that sort of light IMO. i have the 2LED's and only whack them on full for really fast technical descents and they give off plenty of light for that! 900 lumens, again IMO, takes away part of the thrill of night riding as every tiny root/rock within 4 metres or so is illuminated.

Morzine is lovely, but not very high up so is vulnerable to poor snow. We ended up having to take the bus and cable car up to Avoriaz every day.

morzine is minging as a town compared to other ski resorts. some great snow when i was there for a week this year though. in fact the best powder i have ever ridden, and i have about 50wks of riding experience so it all dependes on luck really!
