I noticed that when I was paying by card, didn’t know it was the same with cash :D

Think it is £3 for the day. You can also pay by card. However last few times I have been up the machine has not been working at all.

We were there today for the kids Mini DH final and it was wet and miserable!

Yes, small boy doing mini dh here too. Last year we parked at about 7 am on the Saturday and it was still quiet then. I think it started getting busy at 8, but I don’t know when it filled up.

    Have fun :D

    Frog bike?

Good choice – I was surprised how much bigger the 26 is than the 24 so it would have been too big.

    Jonathan speaks sense :)

My youngest has the same kokua as brakes^^ He started off with a smaller one (Puky LRM) at 19 months. We got him the bigger balance bike at 2.5 even though he had already been riding a pedal bike since he was 22 months.

He is 4.5 now and still rides the balance bike almost everyday – he uses it to do stuff he can’t do on a pedal bike yet. Like this

Mine has had the Fly Racing F16 youth gloves since he was 2. Still wearing the same pair now age 4 – they have had a lot of use! I’m pretty sure they are the smallest size – I remember having a google and finding a good size guide.

He must have walked half of it

I think that would be confidential information :D

The black can’t be too tricky, my lad did it when he was 7. And he only fell off 4 times apparently!

Thanks, those look good. I did think about body protection but he is one of those kids that gets annoyed with tight/uncomfy stuff.

I ride a 650b and there are loads of under 12 s taller than me :D

However I do agree that smaller bike = easier to handle.

    not in our schedule

That is a shame. I think we will do Aberfeldy then the final.

Shame about the race report (and the crash!) The race report also says that the winning under 10 girls slowest time was faster than the winning under 10 boys time – not correct! I will admit her fastest time was 2 seconds faster than my son’s, but she is a Carrick-Anderson!

were you in the blue shimano poncho

Not me, I was wearing a yellowish jacket and had a small boy in blue with me.

Well done to your girls :)

Anyone doing the other rounds at Nevis Range or Aberfeldy?

the eldest is a great climber and the younger a good descender

The problem I have is the older one is 8 and the younger is 4 – my husband doesn’t ride so trying to find a ride that suits both of them is really hard!

    matt, thanks :)

Can I ask why the standover is so crucial?

To avoid the clam slam presumably! :D

Having said that the standover on my bike is too high for my short little legs, but I haven’t really had any problems.

And sorry to flood the thread, but does anyone know when/where there will be photos? Roots and rain?

Missed your post iainc. Sounds like a good day. We have never been there apart from the race days but definitely planning to go back – I think my little one would love the blue. Well the down bit of it anyway!

Ha great photo! I have one wee issue with it though – he mentions older boys taking the top spots but my lad is only 8. Not that it really matters, honest! :D

matt – please pass on my thanks to all the marshalls and organisers. I really appreciate the effort that goes into making these races happen. Especially on a day like yesterday…did I mention it rained a lot? ;)

    peabrain

Well I’m sure it can’t be any wetter ;)

I would have come and said Hi if I’d have known! I was trying to “shelter” under the trees… Didn’t make any difference :D

The kids all did really well, stars the lot of them!

At some point today I need to go and remove the pile of wet stuff from the van – at least it is sunny today!

So chuffed – my lad won the under 10 (he is only 8!) :) :)

Matt – by any chance were you the marshall after the boardwalk? There was certainly a lot of encouragement going on! If so I was the wet (and probably miserable) lady with the small boy in tow.

We had a great time despite the weather :D How did yours get on?

Just checked the forecast again and it has got even worse…

Greater than 95% chance of rain and bloody cold too…

    peabrain

Excellent :D So is the course the same as last year?

My son will either be rocking a retro Norco B-line or a Trek hardtail. I think the hardtail would be the best choice but he loves riding the Norco (if he can push it up the hill…)

Thanks, I am now convinced that the round black ones will do just fine….

Forecast is wet, very wet – I think I’ll keep the moto diggers on (any excuse..)

jonathan – you are handicapping your kid :o tyre choice is uber important in the under 6 category!

matt – see you there, are your kids racing too?

Yes it did work out as £65 when I bought them. I have had a 20″ and 24″. They are lighter than most kids forks but I can’t remember the weight off the top of my head.

I haven’t used the 20″ ones yet – was planning to use them on a 16″ bike but it would rake out the bike too much as the tt is too short on the frame I have.

The 24″ ones are broken – I think they were ridden down the Glentress red with the lockout on.
