Good shout. Would immersion at 7.5p be cheaper than using the gas boiler tho?

Hang on, can you not use the battery in your EV to achieve this shifting of energy purchase/use time of day in a similar way?

I don’t think you can *currently* (pun intented) – I think OVO energy were talking about doing that sort of thing a while back but it was for nissan leaf only and I think you needed a special 2 way charger.

@molgrips that’s the one! The real question behind this thread is ‘how do I make use of those cheap kwh at night time?’. Guessing a storage heater would probably be the best solution…

I have an EV tarrif that’s locked at 7.5p from 12.30am to 4.30am nightly.

Thanks for your thoughts. For my knowledge, what maths are you using to work this out?

thanks @thisisnotaspoon. What are your workings?

The pack is £200 with a voucher and the price cap in October is going up to 51.4p (and then ~80 in Jan) so I want to recalculate.

    Thx

the synths are heavy! Stop your moaning and turn Lies up really loud and cast yourselves back to the 80s if you were alive then.

You know there’s plenty of outside to run in and it won’t cost you a penny.
It will if you hire a babysitter for your young children whie you go out to run.

You’ve hit the nail on the head! Childcare’s the issue… and it’s not for me – I just get up early and go out before anyone’s up.

Thanks for your help everyone. The key question is about differentiating features. Are the only variables max speed, incline and belt width? Very hard to choose and no decent review sites out there…

I’m riding Hutchinson Sectors and they went up fine with tape. Obviously need to top up the sealant reasonably regularly which doesn’t come so natural on my road bike because I’m not changing tyres between seasons. Also riding lower pressures…

Another thread on here put me on to some great gloves from…

    wait for it…

    Screwfix!

The Skytec Argon Thermal gloves they sell are warm and are pretty waterproof (possibly not so on the back of your hand but this hasn’t been an issue yet). Currently £5.99 and super impressed.

Thanks man! Them kojaks look a little *too* bald. Surely I’d need a bit more grip? Worried things might get a little hairy on wet roads…

@atparry got some good advice on the phone from one of the drone shops and that was to learn to fly before you go fpv. I bought and lost a hubsan h107chd, bought another one and am getting my skills… Now building up to purchasing a phantom or something like an Iris+ or Lily that can follow you at trail centres…

..not in the woods mind you!

I’d fly to calgary, rent a pickup and drive around. I’d hit fernie, banff, KICKINGHORSE (near golden and absolutely amazing) and rossland/red mountain. Done this twice and happiest days ever. Don’t stay put

I’ve got Sennheiser PMX 685i and I think they’re brilliant. Waterproof, comfortable, sound good, volume control on the cord. Don’t know how they could improve them.

I got a Jawbone UP24 in october. Wasn’t really meaning to lose weight, but tracking sleep, food and activity meant that I lost 4kg pretty quickly. Am totally sold now, bit of a way of life. If you can wait, check out the UP3 which does heart rate too. Probably launching in feb/march.

I lost 4kg without thinking about it too much with my Jawbone UP24. You can get a new up Move for about 40 quid. Worth a try…
