I have white lightening dry lube is this similar? Just tried it after cleaning chain and letting it dry. Will be trying squirt on new chain.

Where can I buy online? Got the free sample page.

Thanks Juan, sage like advice and I was thinking the same but I had lost the will to reply to such absurd replies LOL

Surely if you fell off sideways at 3mph you'd just put your arms out to take the impact

And dislocate your shoulder… Sideways fall judo style is the safest to do.

From experience I would also recommended staying with the bike and letting the pedals and bars take the hit. They are quickly replaceable.

Helmet's to my mind are like car seat belts. You hope you never need them but I wear them all the same. Its there for the unexpected. I rate my road commute each day to be far more dangerous than MTB.

    Dear pro wheel builder :-)

Got the 2010 M775 XT Tubeless. Need some advice. I have read the service instructions but these look like bearings only? No cup and cone? I am a numpty as far as hubs go's and have never ever touched them.

What or how do I service them? Linky?
    What tools?
    What grease?

Any help gladly accepted, thank you.

    yours PB

wearing a condom on your bike is essential helmet protection obviously 8O

check you have little rubber ring around the valve
blow up to about 50 psi to really seat them
I dont use soap or water I go in dry! 8O

sounds like the tyre – try Maxxis :)

With a UST rim and UST tyres there are no issues and they are a great improvement. No punctures since January so far and loads of grip at low pressures with the rolling resistance.

Just 'handy andy', very small section before grand canyon. I enjoyed skyline last weekend my first time. Just had to be done and I will be going back for more. Yes W2 level is more compressed single track but skyline has some great views and nice singletrack. I wasn't disappointed.

The no helmet Darwinian knuckle dragger's will have cooler heads! And here's the theory

To me, the possible increase in risk due to not wearing a helmet is more than offset by the health benefits of cycling, and the increase in enjoyment.

Come on, healthy benefits outweigh the risks

I always stop for rider down incidents, dont care if you do or dont wear helmet. Always good to see the flat earth crowd try to prove the opposite to common sense.

aracer – yup I had never broken a bone in my body before that one guess I was just unlucky but I know my helmet has saved my head a few times.

I broke my femur – just fell off side ways like 'bikechain' at zero mph on a trail. Think what would have happened if that had been my head with no helmet?

Just plain stupid to equate going slow with the need for a helmet. Its there to protect you that one time you need it. I wear mine, always.

carbon one must be on the way with the release of the two new carbon frames besides the 'superlight' moniker is a bit out of step with reality.

LUST HR 2.35 front advantage 2.1 rear here on Zesty. Great combo, the HR never seems to let go. Once I went UST I found I stopped faffing with tyres. Had no issues with punctures or walls and I ride trail centers at least twice a month, Quantocks, FOD, Wales etc.

+1 High roller front adavantage rear great combo. LUST = 25 psi each tubes 30 front maybe 35 rear.

Your issue maybe the bike setup. Sounds like the front is washing out. You need more weight over the front. You could be too far back. Seat forward a little may help.

+1 here from today they gave me a good service sorting new rear and valve. Thanks guys – now if you had a compressor for pumping up USTs you would get extra marks :-)

I take the tyre off and give everything a good clean and get rid of the old stuff. Put new stuff in, it has a limited life and its cheap. Why chance a puncture?

It seems daunting changing UST tyres but I have had no problems on XT rim and Maxxis tyres. They go on easy as tube ones. First time it took me a few goes with my track pump to blow up the tyre but once I got the hang of it its pretty simple. I think some have problems because the go ghetto or use normal tyres as tubeless or some other conversion kit. Tubeless rim and tubeless tyres with sealant are excellent I will not be going back. Great traction, low pressure and zero punctures.

sealant, 25psi, go ride. Maxxis LUST HR and Advantage rear here.

I have ditched spare inner tube, repair kit and pump to. Just never needed them so thought might as well save the weight. Maybe regret it but in over a year no punctures. I change the sealant every 6 months or so which seems to work.

rear wont spin as many times as front because they have more internal gubbins and ratchet than front so have more friction. Its also got the rotational mass of the rear sprocket to overcome. Look at hub weight difference if you need convincing. I assume you mean free wheeling as the chain etc causes a large amount of friction and drag slowing the wheel but thats obvious.

if its not rubbing go ride.

pretty nit picking of the guy TBH. I don't know the area your talking about but I have enjoyed riding around Surrey Hills. I dont ride footpaths but with land for leisure becoming ever smaller I think it all needs a big rethink. I support the right to roam not the right of a small minority of well off landowners to moan about people using small bits of the land for recreation.

Have LUST 2.35 HR front 2.1 Advatange LUST rear great tyres. I do run mine with sealant but I would run all UST with sealant to stop punctures – why UST without? Mine spend most of their time at Cmwcarn and Afan no issues. fast light grippy at 25psi.

I was a Conti man before but I doubt I will change from that HR anytime soon it just never lets go.

carbon is far stronger – remember the plane you fly to the alps is also made of composite material.

    A320 fuselage

The primary structures of the A320 are of composite construction with aramid fibre (AFRP), glass fibre (GFRP) and carbon fibre (CFRP) reinforced plastics.

2010 714 here – amazing bike. Think Zesty is more than enough bike for UK.

Read the bike magic bit – the guy also broke his Trek x9 so guess he was just unlucky

frames can break but Lapierre has 5 years warranty on frames so no issues I guess.

egg beaters for me, never serviced em and they still going strong after 5 years and at £20 a punt inc cleats who cares how long they last even put em on my commute bike. They regularly bounce of the rocks at afan and cwmcarn and never seem to clog great simple mechanism. Light to :-)

    center the pads

wheel off, take the new ones out
clean around pistons with dry rag
old pads back in (to protect pistons)
force the pistons on both sides fully back in to the caliper with small spanner/screwdriver
    old pads out new in
    fit wheel
do loads of huge stops to bed the brake in so they last longer
otherwise the brakes need a bleed

    +1 here for

a linkage activated single pivot like my wifes 575 or the horst link (i think) Zesty i now own are that bit better and in the case of my Zesty, has no pedal bob in any gear where as my 5's were both awful in the granny ring and did need constant use of the propedal lever!

My experience to (except wife with 575 sadly LOL). I now have Zesty to. The 5 was very good but there are other options that may suit your weight and riding better. I would not go back to single pivot I think 4 bar horst is far better for how I ride. Started on Marin East Peak a long time ago I shudder as I remember the bob.

    Take wheels off.
    Take pads out.
    Push pistons fully in.
    Refit pads wheel.
Squeeze hard several times to center brakes.
If it continues check wheel cones/bearings.
    Have mounts faced.

less rolling resistance and lower pressure with greater grip – no idea why it works but it does. Keep life simple dont ask too many questions.
