Try Trailforks ap. It shows the area of some of the trails. That will give you a good steer. Their closer to Parkend, Canop ponds, Staunton

They wanted the government to underwrite the cost, some £200M and got paid £33M over 30 odd years. If it failed the government covered the cost and the firm kept everything! Makes a loss, firm goes bankrupt walks away we (the tax payers) pick up the bill (again). They start afresh with no debt and make money! It wouldn’t have taken me that long to say no.

More challenging with Cico than Peaks by some way. You won’t be disappointed

28 Conti at 70 front 75 rear with tubes will be going tubeless as soon as these are worn out.

I found it better to find the right tyre pressure for your weight size wheels. 100 psi? You will be faster at lower PSI try 25 you’d be surprised at the improved rolling handling.

Check the graph here as a guide http://road.cc/content/feature/180830-how-choose-your-tyre-pressure-%E2%80%94-balancing-speed-comfort-and-grip

NOTE: weight is per wheel – you should have slightly less in the front as a rule of thumb. Includes weight of bike!
If you weigh 72kg and your bike weighs 8kg, then your tyres carry a total of 80kg but it’s not evenly distributed. The rear wheel carries more of the load, usually between 55 and 65 percent.

Assume you mean medical. Best advice is ring them and ask after reading your insurance cover. If its a MTB race you need specific cover.

I’m dogtag – the main thing to check is that any policy includes – Rescue and repatriation. That’s not covered by EHIC. Only needed it once and I was walking wounded they only wanted EHIC.

EHIC covers the hospital side, its the rescue and get you home if you have a big stack. You may need medical support on the plane (repatriation).

Had mine 4 years no problems here. Low speed set to 5 and 2 tokens 60psi and 68kg rider plus camlbak. Suspect its lack of use. The rubber seals will go hard. Constant use moves them and oil over them etc keeps the supple. I don’t have luftkappe. TF service them each year.

If you don’t do much riding then why luftkappe?

Started with zero, one was good for a year. Moved to two with 10 psi and rebound less. Experiment. I’m also FoD. Depends how what you ride. You can always take them out and go back to old setup. Experiment with more less air to as well to find what works best.

If you go abroad expect to change air pressure.

Never undertake even on cycle lane. Cycle lanes are dangerous. I ride on the road like other cars and stop when they do. I do use them when safe. You have to ride safe and make the right call. Don’t assume they have seen you, wont stop quickly or wont pull out etc.

Driving back on m48 towards Severn bridge tonight – roadie being escorted off the motorway. And he was MAMIL. Just for balance :-)

Maybe try living in say Italy or Spain for example and you might think differently. I’ve lived abroad quite a bit. It’s not so rosey elsewhere.

Plenty of good people and good things here. UK

Id steer clear super tacky – they may last the week. The area your going is rocky and hard pack dirt on main trails.

From my experience certain areas have a lot ticks. On the farm and when I was mountain marathoner it seemed to be mainly dependent on rabbit population their infested with them sometimes. I suspect the little blighters increase depending on climate and hosts. It doesn’t surprise me thst incidents increase or decrease. Certainly a lot more people running these days

The more you search for something on the Internet the IP of the search engine and Facebook believe your looking for more of the same information and like minded groups. Your then into confirmation bias.

Your seeing more news, information, data or groups on Lyme? Maybe it’s partly caused by confirmation bias. I’m not suggesting it doesn’t exist. I’ve certainly been bitten many times as has my cat. Rabbits here seem to be the cause.

Count zero. I get them from multiple sources and check who wrote it. I certainly wouldn’t take articles from that site as fact. Or any site TBH inc BBC etc. I also get info from NHS pages who’s judgement I think, believe, is produced by medically qualified people.

I’d suggest this site be included with the ones you quote. I’d agree all those aren’t reliable. So why assume this source is? It’ seems to be primarily a music site?

yeah I get all my news from rollingstone site. It tells the facts others ignore.

Went down it yesterday. All its done is make it a lot faster. Problem when you sanitise the trail. They weren’t jumps, sort of big bumps. No holes in the trail. Its now faster and potentially dangerous because of the speed. Shows a lack of understanding IMHO. And for balance I think the filling in of the gap jump on javelin was a good idea.

Trails fine BTW, 31kph average speed. TBH maybe that’s too fast and I’m certainly not the fastest! If it had more bumps and turns it would decrease speed and increase safety plus fun.

Dowies ‘et al’ same as ever thankfully. One of the best trails I’ve ridden.

I bought a bike with shorter top tube I find its easier to manoeuvre. Lots say the companies bike ‘come up short’. Whats best depends on the rider.

Start sorting one thing at a time. First step make a list.

Weight lack of fitness is a circle that needs breaking. One feeds on the other. You could start with a good diet, no booze? Also no cost solution

trail tastic carbon about 1500g SRAM Roams so no you wont get a light set of wheels for £400. What you notice with lighter wheels is the acceleration.

Best upgrade on a bike – wheels.

If your full on for MTB Id always advise a frame build that way you don’t buy twice for the same thing. Upgrading is the most expensive path IMHO

Don’t worry about carbon rims mine are over 4 years old and still true, worn, scratched etc yes. Id go as far to say they are stronger than Alu. Yes I do ‘small’ drop offs ;-) honest guv

Have you actually bothered to read my original post?

yes I did and subsequent ones.

its a complaint, the guy works in the countryside, you insinuate he uses red diesel illegally (there is some necessary road travel allowed) you don’t know that and I guess its because you want to paint his character in a certain light.

Id remind the rest we only have your word for the situation, it has some bias (red diesel) guys been cast as an antisocial noisy arsehole. Fact or opinion?

He (the farmer) isn’t doing anything wrong. They complain here about ‘slow tractors’ on the road delaying them on their journeys on Facebook etc etc. I can see his behaviour could be annoying if what you say is true. But its also the harvest season. All the farmers here work late start early. Drive tractors, pull implements, drop mud on road etc Its the countryside its how it is.

You live in the countryside and complain about the farmers. Was brought up on farm. This about sums peoples attitude to those that work in the countryside.

We like the look of the countryside but not the farmers making a living. Early start and late finish is required to put long days in to make money and keep the countryside looking how you like it.

Around here people complain about the smell of the sheep. Of course that’s because they moved into the countryside from the town and have no idea what makes it tick.

Can’t recommend Canyon Endurance strongly enough. Brilliant bike. Just done over 1000km in Europe on mine. Flawless, extremely good spec. Comfortable geometry sees me down on the bars without pain or discomfort over long distances.

Done CTCTC two days. The bike won’t be the limiting factor.

    What’s the Endurance missing?

OMM 35lt made for the mountains. Stable on the bike. Pockets, lightweight. Made by people who know and tested in mountain marathons.

Did 7 days Sarn Helen route north to South Wales. Brilliant pack, rugged and well designed

For credit card touring and cycling I’d just use a normal road. Ike. Slap on bag on post and bars and your done without the weight penalty. Posting from Geno on tour. B&B or hotels provide most of what you need. Heading towards the Alps next.

For wild camping etc I use my MTB and lightweight OMM backpack.

If I were traveling the world I’d still choose light weight hsrdtail MTB over the weighty tourers. More marketing hype.

From buying from Canyon all I had to do was fit the front wheel, seat and seat post, bars. Job done. LBS I use them but online buying is here to stay. They do ok from me. It’s more important that I get the right bike to ride. I don’t owe them a living. I genuinely think competition is good for business and consumer

Six months. Yeah I guess any tyre would be flat after that amount of time. Top up stans every six months

Levers likely to damage your rim and as happened snap.

Use your boot to trap the tyre on the floor then push the wheel towards the ground. Works for getting that last bit on off the wheel. No levers required.

Works for breaking the seal to. Uses a lot lest energy. Only need levers to flip the tyre bead on off.

If I get knocked off I treat it like an accident in my car, exchange details and I pass it on to the legal advisors that come with my CYcling UK membership and police if necessary. It’s why I’m a member. Let the experts deal with it. Simple. No point in anger or stress. It’s happened.

Oh and in my experience with Saga I didn’t get any preferential treatment or discount for being over 50. There just a company that uses that cover to try and sell you their products, holidays, car life insurance etc
