Garmin Oregon 450 here. Once the gps is on it finds your location almost immediately. Its on all the time when your using so not sure what the delay you mean.

Depends what you want from your gps. Mapping is important. I use 1:50K off and on road here and in europe. Sure satmap is good to.

I choose the garmin because it is robust and has a large viewing area and good OS map coverage area plus good functionality. Dont dismiss functionality until you have tried it. I have thought Points Of Interest was a waste until I went on holiday to Pisa. Whipped out GPS – open POI and it takes me on foot direct to the leaning tower and the rest of the attractions and your hotel 🙂 handy in strange countries believe me.

+1 for removing seatpost and allow to drain Zesty 714. Strange they never identified this weakness in their design to an otherwise superb bike. Guess its a small price to pay.

XT rims and Maxxis = track pump every time even with year old tyres. UST is brilliant, wontbe going back to tubes.

Driest period in ages and your putting swamp tyres on and complaining their draggy? LOL Zoomed around Afan today on HR and Maxis Ignitor out back. When its this dry who needs winter tyres?

Would not now go back to tubes – tubeless is the way to go.

Assume you have UST version of tyre?

Scott Cougar 2.25 UST Tubeless Folding Tyre 66Tpi – BUY ONE GET ONE FREE

TBH I have never heard of them. Go Maxxis Advantage 2.1 LUST or Ignitor 2.35. They fit on my XT rims easy.

Fired the Ignitor 2.35 around Cmwcarn yesterday and works perfect for those trails. Will be my winter combo I think. I can get more power down through the tyre and wider tyre works very well. I run @25psi front and back so they roll well LUST. I run the HR 2.35 all year its just so good and railing corners and those center nobs give you all the speed you need on hard pack. Maxxis LUST go on off my XT hoops really easy to. The advanatge is a great tyre to but I was finding it a bit too narrow nice tread though. Wider may help as well as I am training for Trans Alp and it is more comfy than 2.1.

Was running HR front advanatge rear. Good all round combo. Got a ignitor 2.35 on the back now as I think a wider tyre on the back will be good for my type of riding – trail centers.

the instructions on 9 spd xtr show which way the chain should be joined for extra strength.

Its not about which way around the chain goes, rather you should join it with the double or female end leading.

Si – can see where the security leak may have occurred with registration the bikes and address. Its the sort of connection they are looking for. Its not by chance. Like you said they came prepared and clearly knew what they were doing.

Sorry, hope you get them back.

Tyres seems to be main issue. XT works fine. Maxxis work very well.

Got xt tubeless and maxxis tyres. Works perfect. I dont take the valve out. I just have an edge off pour in liquid then rotate tyre edge to the top so liquid is in fully fitted part and pop the edge on to the rim. Really simple no faff. I found tubeless easier to fit than tube TBH.

One tip. When you have the tyre fitted before trying to blow it up give it a few bangs with your hand on around the tread. I found this helps pretty much seat the tyre before pumping with normal track pump.

If it were me I would wonder how they knew about my bikes. IMHO these thefts are to specific to be random. Can you identify how they would have known about the bikes?

Interesting in how many people leave the house. Why didnt she leave? From my experience I didnt leave the house I had every right to be there. She left, I kept house /wave

My advice would have been to stay and sell up or she could have left.

Medusa works well out back in most conditions. But found it wasnt the best trail center tyre on rocks and roots at 2.1. I think a lot depends on how you ride.

HR up from Advantage rear, both LUST. Both work, lower pressures in mud 🙂 Although I would like something wider on the rear than 2.1. Can breakaway on climbs sometimes. I was thinking Ardent rear, kinda like the HR on the front, great grip in the corners etc.

I have a camelbak which I keep as light as possible. What I dont understand is riders spending a fortune on saving 100grams from the bike then loading up 5kg in to their back pack.

    Multi tool
    Pump
    Repair kit (tubeless)
    Chain link

+1 ride then gym. I do it most days I aim to go to gym. Gym great way to exercise for bike IMHO. You will find it handy to have a snack bar near the end of your ride to keep your enegry levels up and I always eat straight afterwards.

Cotswolds – North Bristol M4 M5 Jnct. Lived in all those areas. I rate North Bristol because easy reach of the best MTB in the country and easy motor way access. Easy to reach North Wales and Lakes.

    Cmwcarn
    Afan
    Brecon
    Quantocks
    Dartmoor

Welcome to Bristol and BRMBC! – I moved here last Oct. Loads of regular rides below + informal groups hit the trail centers or Welsh classic routes most weekends. Enduros, XC and DH. Great area Wales, Quantocks, Exmoor, dartmoor, Cotswolds all easy access via M4. 11 of us went to Afan last weekend.

    Tuesday evenings.
Meet at the North Road entrance to Leigh Woods for an 18:30 start. The needs of beginners and slower riders are the priority on Tuesdays. Faster and/or experienced riders are of course welcome, but should be prepared to ride at an appropriate pace, or form a separate group. If forming a separate group bear in mind leaders will ensure that the beginner groups are accommodated so there may not be anybody to show you the way!

    Saturday mornings.
Meet at the Golf Kiosk and Café in Ashton Court for an 11:00 start. Saturday mornings are ladies’ ride, led by female members.

    Sunday mornings.

Wasnt 18 but same here. Pictures went to the kids rest in the bin. Move on. What makes women change like this?

The woman the 18 year old me fell for, and spent half my adult life with , in less then a week ceased to exist, to be replaced with what can only be described as an unrecogniseable heartless monster.

+1 for speed and edge. Never clogged. Lust 2.35 HR front all year, Advantage/Medusa rear both 20 – 25 psi. Never put a foot wrong. XC pros = tractor tyre 😆

Morzine (it was slightly muddy and ended up walking a lot)

    nuff said.

Zesty 714. Carbon light, effective and relentlessly fast. TBH I just like the ride because it feels responsive, engaging and great down hill. I ride all the trail centers south Wales at least one a week and hit the Brecon National park area for natural trails. This week in 7 days about 100 miles two epics in Wales and Afan. Bike never put a foot wrong. Not bad.

Dont. Get a tubeless ready wheel like XT and save yourself a lot of faff and disappointment. You wont regret it. Tubeless is great.
