thanks, yes been looking at the Evans site. Sounds like the performance I am looking for. My XT775’s UST (1800grams) have survivied 18 months with only a few dings and a set of new bearings. Back one needs straightening now but its not too bad. Like you and your mate I ride Afan, Wales, Black Mountains, etc etc Would compliment my Zesty 714 I think very well. Also want 100% UST so no faffing around with tyres.

I have a 15mm front and a QR rear, they compatiable asI see they are 20mm front? Assume there is some conversion kit with them?

    thanks for everyones views.

+1 for lights. I’m running the Light exposure flare and flash. It seems to work. Also make sure I cycle to command the road when needed. Those lights are very visible even in daylight. Every bit helps to lessen the % chance of an accident.

This is, thankfully a free country where as an English man I have the right to roam without anyone telling me what part of our country I can or cannot enjoy. I ignore the busy bodies. They are powerless. I don’t tend to ride any footpaths and always say hello and thanks. But if I saw a nice trail I would ride it. No one enforces these arcane laws. Most I see are a few meaningless signs. Anyone trying to physically stop me are committing an offence and are likely to be ridden over. Then sued to the full extent of the law.

Great day and dry trails. Was a pleasure to ride 132km route. Thank to organisers and helpers

I got a CR bag to for GF. It’s ok but the plastic rails along the bottom broke first time out. It’s ok for a few trips. But if your doing multi trips I would go Evoc. CR bag wouldn’t handle my use over a couple of years. Still it’s an adequate bag depends how much use you experience t to make of it,

Fopster know where your coming from. Zesty is frighteningly fast to accelerate and carry it’s speed. Hope you recover quickly. Zesty is a great bike to ride.

36 inch inside leg! Feeling very short :-s Take your point though. Can you run a reversed lay back seat post to counter this? Slightly mad suggestion maybe. Taking a saver or two out would put more weight over the front as wel. Best to try before you buy. Like I said, great bike with superb ride.

I am 5′ 8″ and a 1/2 (the half is important) with 30inch inside leg so I cannot answer that question 🙂 Got to know over the years what suits me. Cant think why a large or extra large wouldnt suit a long legged guy?

+1 for evoc bag, used many times without issues. Easy to fit bike in securely. Rolls easy on the wheels and is tough.

Well sorry, yours sounds really bad but mines trouble free and would buy another without another thought. Sounds like a lot of damage. My etsx broke on me after many years (not carbon) was disappointed to as I felt it was pot design issue. All bikes break, plenty on forum. Did they replace the damaged frame?

Reverb needs slight body weight. It’s surprising easy.

Gets my vote. Seems to make the front end a lot more sure footed on Zesty.

Best upgrade I have made. Run mine with RH lever under left hand side. I fond the leaver action fits nicely with the front mech and it’s protected from any comedy moment crashes. Worked out the box. Push leaver in a bit for slow or all the way in for fast. Has made a noticeable difference to climbing and single track

Had a similar experience when I went to spin classes with GF think it would be a easy laugh and target rich environment <caugh> Hardest cycling I have done zone 5 all the way. Now treat spin classes with respect 😉

Your right though, different type of fitness.

What’s trail conditions like? Must not ask what tyre, must not, must resist.

No problems with Zesty carbon frame. No air bubbles or finger marks. I would contact Whyte direct. It don’t bode well for future suppry? I liked the look of the new Whyte to.

LUST 2.25 ardent up front and 2.25 crossmark on rear Zesty 714. You wont see any noticable drag from the crossmarks.

Normal leaver. Best to fit under bar. Order RH one and fit under bar on the left. Works really well.

Well I think everyone’s situation is different and in my case I travel and do more now because I haven’t got the responsibility of kids or expense. I have more time and I have the money to do more. Crossed Atlas mnts already this year and in training for trans alps. Guess I’m not too worn out 🙂 When I was younger family commitments meant curtailing plans. Now freedom and money. On a personal note I’m enjoying my lifestyle. I wouldn’t have stuck any old job. Like I said imlucky, had a job I really enjoyed. When I say retire, I plan to still do a little work for the interest factor. Not trying to convert you just explaining everyone has a unique circumstance. It will be hard for my three children but they have different opportunities and challenges. They wil overcome them just like we had to. No free meal out there ever:)

Well I guess I come with another model. I enjoy my work and wl soon retire at 55. I have, since the kids grew up, traveled. What I have got which I am very grateful for is a pension. Enough to live on and travel for I guess the rest of my life. Throwing in work or taking a break is fine but have 1 eye to the future. I enjoy traveling and mtb more now than ever. Don’t end up like some I know, out of work, no pension and no hope of travel. Life carries on after 55 and I intend to make themost of it.

The answer seems to be get a job you like and it will support your dreams.

Had one of the first frames. I’m 72kg and it eventually broke after 6 years. Tbh I didn’t like the steep head angle. Zesty much better bike. Stump was to.

CPU counts for very little in games. Buy a good video card. Second life requires very low spec. Your broadband and graphic card will be limiting factor. Don’t buy on board graphics card. Replacing mother board is 5 min job and typically cost £65.

Rose bikes. If u mount the leaver under the bar get the opposite side leaver. I bought RH and mounted on left. Works well, great service from Rose

Crap video and sound, unprofessional. What was the singletrack team thinking? Unlikely to increase readership.

Got one, used several times. Great bit of kit. Bike has always arrived safe. GF has CR one. Its ok but nowhere near as good as Evoc,

Wasn’t a opportunity type theft. They came prepared. They knew how they were secured and when they had time to do the job. Me I would look around the people I know. Inside job or someone knows your setup.
