Nope it wont I have garmin gps. I bought Polar RS300x heart rate monitor. The real benefit of HRM is being able to upload all the data and have graphs read outs etc to see whats happening. Mine has zone etc but like I sad its the online diary that brings it all together.

They are accurate enough. Had my resting and maximum Heart rate checked at hospital and it was the same as the polar. The polar online diary is very good and has been a great help in training. Keeps you honest and helps you check when you should rest. It’s the best bit really. You can use it to monitor loads of healthdata. Not just heart rate.

Run various LUST and they are the best tyres I have had on my Zesty. Run Ardent from and Crossmark rear LUST. Spain, Morocco trail centres Wales off piste. 20-25 front 25 -30 rear. Sealant Crest rims.

Zesty 714 with 145mm travel for festival overkill he he but it’s my only bike. Guess best course times will change as the course should be faster? What was best lap last year?
MG yeah I had one guy who looked like a xc whippet fail at the apex causing a slight barging moment as my speed carried me past as he grabbed for rail!

Rocky Mountain ETSX70 after many years but it was just poor design

Ha ha 🙂 sorry was pulling your leg 😉 I find avoiding the other riders the main issue for me as they struggled (faffed) up the bridge (which is not included this year).

‘gnarly Ashton Court’ Not really 😉 Tight in places so having to slow down is a pain as is passing.

Muddypuddle – we should have teamed up for old gits team! Zesty 714 here, off to Trans Alps Jul. Drop me an email if you need a partner for enduro type events or see me on Sat.

Yeah solo area. Weather looks really good. Trails flat 🙂 not technical at all.

Try it on left under the bar beside your left shifter. Protects The leaver and is I think easier to use. If you have the occasional comedy off definitely put it under the bar

Do W2 you can then loop around the Wall a couple of times for 60km, three loops is 70km. Just do W2 and instead of going back along the short cut turn left and start the wall descent again. Most bang for your ascent $ Skyline is off my radar just not enough trail open and too many diversions. 60km option takes 4 hours, 3 loop 70km takes 5 :15.

Left under thebar! Using right handed mount.

Put the forum hype to one side. Which one do you like to ride? Surely that’s the whole purpose, get out and ride? Ride for me is most important factor.

Ah yeah thought about debating the pros of whats happening but guess its not the place or time. The trails are being flattened there was no consultation and what we end up with is push chair tracks. I didnt expect a full on MTB trail centre 😉 but look at the result. If I wanted that I could cycle along the Bristol to Bath cycle route along the old rail way line. Why does everything have to be sanitized?

rondo if its been compacted correctly its ready for use no such thing as bedding in. I was there last week (not on the trails) dont look like they done much more than dump gravel on the previous trails and made them flat. Compaction plant was not in evidence nor geo textiles or any other stabilization. So you should expect very little long lasting trail for the money spent. I expect to be roundly disappointed next weekend on the event as I roll along a flat gravel path masquerading as a mountain bike trail. I do hope I am wrong. 12 hour solo here.

Great for trail centres where there are plenty of downs and ups

set a pace that’s within your aerobic 2 – 3 zone is the key. Only top quality wicking material no cotton ever (cold or hot).

+1reverb Worked straight out of the box. Allows me to find that sweet spot along the trail and helps on the ups. Weight not really an issue.

Dont know where you from stumpy but try Nirvana cycles in Westcott, Dorking they usually have a Zesty demo bike and are only a few miles from Leith/Holmsbury which is a good area to try one out.

Yup I had stumpy. Great bike but not in same league ad Zesty. Strange cos it lead me to the Zesty. A lot of the angles are very similar. I liked the stumpy ride but wanted more. Stumpy just isnt as capable. But would still be on one if Zesty hadn’t come along. For the recordy Mark 1 ETSX70 broke after many years of use. Surprised really as RM had a rep for being north shore bomb proof.

Interesting that those that have a Zesty and have ridden them think they are brilliant bike but those that haven’t ridden them are very negative. Go with those that actually have the bikes opinion would be my advice. Rest is just uninformed comment. No basis other than second hand forum posts.

Zesty is amazing bike. Go for the one that rides the best, don’t be swayed by the hype or forum views. Zesty 714 here and it’s been thrashed. Spain Atlas mountains. I would buy aother tomorrow no hesitation. Must be a reason why they have become so popular.

Not stopping shows a lack of humanity, how callous and selfish some people are. She might have been able to render some first aid but given his injuries some human comfort in his last moments.

After 18 months I was thinking of getting mine serviced. Anyone any on line service centres like Mojo etc that do a complete service TLC?

Zesty 714 it just delivers. Fast down and up and great through anything you throw at it. I havent found any vices in it in over 18 months of riding, trail centres, Atlas mountains and Sierra Nevada in Spain.

All the same frame. Just different spec. Should ride the same albeit the 514 is a slightly better spec so will be a better ride. TBH when buying a bike a good frame and geometery is the most essential part. Try to see past the components as they can be replaced. Zesty 714 here, great bike don’t think you will regret it.

dirtyrider – thanks Didnt know that was an option. Good for blasting along Welsh mountains and trails on 2.4 Maxxis? Looks like they are tubless ready as well. You find tyres easy to fit?

This week for example I will after the CR Enduro in Wales I will completed somethimng like 300km of MTB riding. Will featherlite wheels survive such long term abuse? Normal week about 75km in all weathers over Wales, Spain etc

Must say thanks to all that have contributed to the discussion its been very good in helping me to form my opinion.

One thing I am sure about is I want a full UST rim, it just saves so much faffing. I am sure I want the weight saving as well. Im not a heavy rider (72kg) and only get airborne in over the bar incidents 😀 ha ha so dont expect a wheel to fail. None have so far 16 years of MTB.

2010 714, same as 2011 I think. First thing I changed was to take off the the Conti rubber and put Maxxis HR front and Ignitor rear on. 2nd up grade was Reverb. Its a great bike, I would buy another if I needed a repalcement, no hesitation.

Ha ha divorce or the shovel and large hole 😉

Horses for courses. I run Ardent 2.25 LUST and Crossmark rear for fast summer conditions. I would not expect them to give the same grip when cornoring as my winter tyres. If you want better aurthority over the front the Advatange is very good but a Highroller is best. For trail centre bashing I like a 2.35 HR up front and Ignitor on the rear runnig about 20 – 25psi. In LUST version they roll perfectly and have excellent grip.
