Mine are three years old great fit ideal for MTB in the winter. I wear them with pads and the zip in the legs helps cool you down if you need it. I’m 1 x11 not caught them in the drive side — yet.

I got a turbo bike to its pretty simple and cheap. It does have a turbo tyre an essential piece of kit IMHO. My latest upgrade was to change the pedals from spd trail to road. I’m on a vortex to great bit of kit. And TBH more than enough for my level of riding. I tend to do more turbo because the bikes already setup. Jump on, fans engaged to turbo mode and your off!

I like the look of the TACX bike. Neo based and has normal shifters not due out until 18 so I think I will wait. Lots more turbo bikes coming.

I tried sufferfest ap, trainer road. Zwift did it for me I like the competition and interaction. I bought a bike for my mechanical turbo now doing sterling service on TACX vortex. I to got fed up swapping bikes.

I found sufferfest ap to be inaccurate nowhere near as smooth as Zwift. Trainer road and wattbike very good but crushingly boring. With Zwift I can do a normal turbo session, race, join a group, chase a KoM, events, pros turn up and do sessions or just ride. Its whats kept me coming back for more especially during the winter season. Was tempted to go for a neo this year but may well hold on for the new range of turbo bikes. But it must have a useful shifter action.

In deed and what do you use if your GPS gets broken / flat batteries/stops working for any reason ?
on many sections of this route your a long way from anything.
Equally planning escape routes on a GPS is a total scunner of a job – much quicker on a map , especially if you have got to the stage of needing one
such as mark breaking his collar bone ??? on the route needing to extricate him self to a road ASAP

I’m ML qualified mate and Id still use GPS comes with all the maps and will lead you out in zero viz. I use mine all the time crossed Italy into Alps this year. They are dependable and waterproof and very compact. Ive also crossed Portugal North to South, Germany across to Italy all off road, South Africa Joberg to Durban. All on GPS without issues, solo to.

TACX vortex good enough for my standard. Been flawless over the last 2 years. If your fast elite rider Id go for direct drive TACX Neo. Check out DCrainmaker for good reviews

Zwift is hard to beat its so popular with always a 1000 plus online. Look at the reviews here of the apps. Ive tried quite a few. But Zwift has been the best, most people online, races, workouts, pros online etc Check out what your cycling club is using. Ours is certainly 90% Zwift 10% trainer road.

the races are quite fun and a great work out. I find I work harder on them. They add a bit of fun and change to training programs. That’s the key to success, keep it interesting and enjoyable.

I use 2 wraps of 19mm electric tape, works fine.

+2 tubeless on road. I tried ghettoing a conti. Didn’t work the tyres are way thinner than mtb. Using Schwalbe one. No issues. Run at 70psi. Way better than tubes I think they’re actually faster. Certainly a better feel on the road with a lot less road vibration. And no their not draggy

No one ever looks. I fly all the time with gear in the bag. Its the weight that they check. Be under/on the weight limit that’s all. Check with your carrier.

For road go smaller it allows you to be more comfortable down on the bars. Also short leg here. 170 on road bike, just right for me and Id be tempted lower next time. Riding down on the bars not the hoods saves a huge amount of power. Get comfortable there and you will save a large amount of energy. You can google for results. Don’t ride on the hoods kids!

Plus 100 – it’s your rim tape. I use basic electric tape, two wraps. Don’t be afraid to tape one side then move across to the other keeping the tape super tight. Try it. Couple goes and you’ll get the idea. Then stans latex after you get tyre on. You don’t need leavers. Use your booted foot once you have it to the last tight bit. Pump up to 40psi so that it cracks into position. Twirl the wheel to get the latex around and leave over night. Lower to 20psi ne t day and enjoy! And yes you can go lower. Try experimenting to find the ideal pressure for you.

once they know you have something worth stealing they will come back. They expect you claim on insurance and restock the bikes. Not much help I know but that’s why they came back a second time. Build something in concrete block with steel door for bikes?

24hrs for 80% strength then 28 days fully set. Depends on type/mix assuming its compacted and reinforced.

would you like a meal of gel? I wouldn’t and I’m in my 60th year. Maybe not as old as his mum.

NHS advice – balanced diet. A good sound source of information. Id suggest talking to her and with the doctors who are experts not the bike forum.

What I suggested was go around and spend sometime eating / cooking with her. See what’s happening change the outcome.

No gels wouldn’t be good idea.

How about suggesting you take her out for a meal? Or have a meal together, you cook? It’s the approach. You could even cook together. Make it fun. Food she likes.

She needs no more than a balanced diet and some contact. Time is the most valuable thing you can give. I’ve recently helped my dad to change his diet this way and he no longer needs vit D because he never ate any greens! He’d been on tablets for years. Now tablet free but takes the supplement Sep-Mar. I live three hours away by car but I spend regular time with them. We need to change the culture of caring for our relations.

I have never seen how spending money on two bikes (winter bike) makes financial sense. I keep one full sus and maintain it because it costs less than buying a second bike. Besides I enjoy riding FS more.

Can’t see how something that’s hugely successful is a problem. Wales should deliver more. Afan could have developed the same uplift and trails but didn’t. And they could have done it way before BPW. It’s a market economy? Deliver what people want. BPW could improve its food!

once people start categorizing and labelling people

<London company men on group rides comparing strava times, wearing club shirts like they’re roadies/frat groups >

it says something about you. You might want to think about that.

Why go to BPW over local trails? Same reason I’d go to Whistler or Valnord etc. Its a great experience. I still ride 90% on my local trails. But if your not local with only the weekend to ride in I’d plump for a trail centre to get the maximum bang for my buck.

TBH I always pass Cwmcarn and go to Afan – it has better and more trails despite the extra drive. Food was better to!

Been going to Afan and Cwmcarn for years. Had they been developed then I’m sure they to wouldn’t now be in decline.

Numbers in the sport? My local area is rammed at the weekends and pretty busy during the weeks. Only now has the FC finally expanded the car park after local complaints. Still little real inward investment or drive from the management.

More better facilities can only popularize and encourage people into the sport which can only be good. Glad he enjoyed it.

    TACX Vortex for me

    Pawsy_Bear

willv depends what/how you ride. I run 2 tokens and 65psi 68kg. I specifically want more support in the last bit of travel for jumps/downs etc. Works a treat. Havent felt the Pike to be harsh in the last 4 years :-) Id try some more adjustments/less air before blowing more money.

Try 6-clicks of low-speed compression, and 13-clicks of rebound (clicks are from closed). Then drop the air pressure 5psi would be my starting point.

you both tell your insurance companies and they sort it out. Pointless argument otherwise. Its an accident it happened that’s why you have insurance or cycling cover with BC etc

I bought a cheap Trek just fitted a turbo tyre. Its never seen tarmac. Its ideal to have your turbo setup all the time. I bought last years about this time I think. Its 3×9 and I haven’t found that’s a problem. Its made me turbo on zwift more.

I have TACX Vortex superb, best upgrade I have ever bought I’m tons fitter now.

both crap tyres IMHO try Maxxis DHR. Id also lower tyre pressure – you are tubeless? I run 18psi in the wet front and rear but I’m only 68kg. Id also try less air etc in the can. Maybe some damping needed.

Will be my next set of wheels based on my experience with their warranty and customer service. It’s first class. Frame 2 years old had a cross threaded bolt. They sent a complete new frame without even having seen the old frame. They just told the LBS to bin the old one. Two weeks later and I had a new frame. No fuss no argument. Life time warranty means for life.

In the dry I use Hans damf the roll fine but they aren’t good in winter mud. HR2 way more traction IMHO

    Pawsy_Bear

DHF – HR2 rear but DHR2 is also good. Found Maxxis to be the best IMHO. Wales, FoD, Peaks and bit in between. Must say that the wider rims make a difference after I got a replacement for my rear and went wide 30mm. Just need to smash the front to justify a wide up front :-D

2014 Bronson – replacement will be another, a V2 I guess. Its at its best flat out where VPP makes a lot of sense. Seems to pull me down onto the trail. Id be surprised if a V2 was radically different? Not tried one yet. Bronson already has the highest BB in the range some I’m surprised at pedal strikes.

You have to love your bike, if you’ve lost the love I understand.
