    Korean war machine

check this out. Look at pic number 30 ha ha fat chicks with camo in their hats.

    http://www.theatlantic.com/infocus/2013/03/north-korea-puts-its-war-machine-on-display/100481/

Mig 21, free flight rockets, long range arty, T54 tanks LOL all circa 1950 – 60 vintage.

They have tested nuclear weapons but that’s a long way from having a weapon miniaturised for use in a ICBM. Hence the concerns on their simulatanious development of long range rockets. Coupled with dubious leadership, failing economy, falling standards of living and food shortages makes the threats plausible if not deliverable. The proven capability of the west to destroy North Korea with just conventional weapons is fact. If North Korea used a nuclear weapon anywhere there would be a response in kind swiftly followed by a leadership changing campaign. Bye bye fat boy.

I had Boardman Hybred for 6 years then picked up Team carbon second hand. Its a great bike and was also my first real road bike. Now 3 years on its still comfortable fast and easy to use. If I was to get another road bike it would be another Boardman team carbon again. Why change. The genesis croix de fer is more cx so your not really comparing like for like. I commute on mine every day with normal slick road tyres only extra is some mud guards. My advice would be, unless your off roading a bit, go for the road bike it will be a lot easier on the tarmac. If I go off piste I swing my leg over Ms Zesty why compromise your off road experience is my view 🙂

Once you have a 800 with car like sat nav routing and maps you wont want to go back to following bread crumb trails. Also cost wise ends up cheaper than maps if you do a lot of touring. Whole of UK from Birmingham down OS 1:50K about £50. You dont get many maps for £50.

1:50,000 OS maps are great for 800. A lot of tracks etc arent where their supposed to be and its ideal to be able to look on garmin and choose the best route. Garmin has free base camp software far better than the online mapping stuff.

I use my polar HRM and a rear wheel cat eye computer give cadence and distance.

    Zone based training
    Intervals
    Long slow Z2 for endurance
Recover spin Z1-2 – high cadenace low power

Its about time SAR was privatised. The cost of training military to be used as SAR is just not cost effective and provides no real benefit.

Military pilots, ground crew etc are trained for combat operations and then SAR. We want our pilots manning the military helicopters on exercises and operations. They recieve escape and evasion training, weapon training, military exrrcises to test tactics etc. All skills not actually required for SAR.

one of the reasons Im in the ctc as I commute miniumum 75km a day. Near misses happen nearly every day. See at least one road accident every 2 weeks. Their insurance will at least allow me to get some justice.

Ride with peace of mind – you’ll be covered by £10m third party insurance and will benefit from a cycling-related support and advice

For me it’s about the muscle group you engage. Yes you can grind up slowly and physics tells us it takes the same amount of power. But you have two sorts of muscles. Fast and slow. Depending on the race depends on what’s best to use. Technique also plays a part. MTB off road favours sat down weight over rear wheel for traction. Road you can stand and pedal. Sat Dow I spin. Standing I favour higher gear low cadence. Think the point is I vary technique to suit what I’m trying to achieve.

spin to win – high cadence your fast muscle tires less. Also technique try pushing down through your heal. Get fitter

Mine same size as normal shoes no increase over time been wearing last 2 winters. Fit fine. I find a merino inner sox and a thick wool one are ideal combo for the really cold days. Gaiters are a must as water ingresses through top. I use them on road and off. Always thicker winter sox

    try these for routes
    http://www.bikely.com/
    http://monkeyspoon.com/
    http://www.gps-routes.co.uk/

download route – import into basecamp couldnt be easier view it and then upload to device

remember off road you dont get the auto navigate you get on road

Base camp is free from garmion its very good for planning routes. Connect your 800 and select the os map and plot away. You will get the hang of it. Online mapping is ok but I find basecamp with os maps better IMHO.

800 is great in auto mode as it works just like a car sat nav

Love it when people generalise about such stuff they seem to skip over the point about individual freedom and line themselves up with the nanny state and righteous. Then extrapolate to ruin of country. How much fitness is enough? One persons exercise regime is anothers warm down.

    +1 Mr Woppit
I also think that to a large extent the royals have a very ‘directed’ life style in terms of what they can or cannot do not unlike the freedom most of us enjoy to follow whatever future we want. Press intrusion, security and the government over sight of my life are a few things I wouldnt welcome.
