Plus one for formula R1 best brakes I’ve had still going strong after 3 years. Would never by Avid just had very bad experience with them and bleeding. R1s seem to be fit and forget.

Think it’s soon going to be time to replace my trusty 2010 Zesty. Been a brilliant ride. Just give me more of the same with Ei. Reviews so far seem very positive

Agreed don’t care about the wheel size. When I need a replacement for my Zesty it will be with just another Zesty whatever the wheel size. Buy the bike you want and go ride there is no ‘right’ solution.

Personally I don’t see what the second hand value if a bike has got to do with purchasing the right bike for your riding? Who can guarantee the second hand value of a bike?

Mat – or insulation from the ground is more important for warm night than sleeping bag. Spend the money on a good thermal mat cheap sleeping bag and go layers inside plus hat.

Have the 2010 714 best bike I’ve owned. Was looking to get a 2013 150mm 714 when they get discounted or second hand. Then only because I like the idea of a bit more front end travel.

the council that improved cycling in North Bristol by chaining old cycle frames painted silver to the railings on the cycle routes – which are now just rusty cycle frames. Thanks for that waste of tax payers money as is most of the cycle routes which are cluttered with hundreds of bollards and signs.

you mean my commute is not a race? My view is why care what others do? Just enjoy the event you can ride at whatever speed you like

18 stone late 30’s, so about 6 stone too heavy which is the same as cycling with an extra 2 x DH bikes on your back?

Be careful you don’t do too much too soon. Careful regular exercise.

commute and take the long way and keep expanding it which means getting up early you will soon get fit 😉

weight will fall off, MTB riding is more fun when your fit bike makes a little difference.

stick with camlbak easy to hydrate. I would watch the energy drinks and gels you can take too much and they de-hydrate you. If I take gels and bars I just have water in camlbak. But you must have enough food. I have tri bag on top bar, I have salt and vinger sandwhichs as my fav treat for 12 – 24 hour solo stuff its my big treat.

I never use water bottles on MTB because if you have been on any long enduros over even modest terrain you find the bottles have bounced out and the rider has lost his hydration.

    Weight
Save weight get rid of junk. You need tyre repair and trail tool and chain link. Anything else is junk. I also work out where the water stops are and how much I need between the stages and fill accordingly. A litre water = 1kg so if you only need a litre between stops only load a litre. Get fit and slim down will save most weight.

The pro pedal isnt a lock out for road its just there to allow a firmer ride for climb or whenever. Mine dont bob, not that I go on the road if I can help it 🙂 Expriment with air pressures most run way tyoo much.

I have Kashima very nice and plush. Use some fork juice regularly and striction will go away. Fire some on reberb too and it keeps it smooth and fault free in my experience.

Im nearly 55 and I still come off. It happens. Dust youself off rest recover, takes a bit more now, go and repeat. Lifes too short to give up.

Dislocated my sholder at 6000′ in Spain Sierra Nevada in a OTHB moment at the snow line alone and hour half away from road. Not good. Thankfully bike was ok, I slapped hand on bar and rode down and back to hotel and A&E 🙂 Ok that hurt but you get over it.

A full sus is a lot more capable bike but isnt a skill repaclement. Just ride more 🙂

Maxxis easy best tubeless IMHO. Have you got LUST versions?

Clean tyre rim and wheel rim and smear in sealent makes them slip into seat

Put tyre on, add sealent. Make sure you bang the tyre into position all the way around. Track pump and goes up first time. Used tyres can be a bit more of a faff but I nevr not been able to get them up even HRII which are non tubeless.

Buy a carbon frame bike. But surely it’s about the ride? I’d barter some discount

as an aside I had a contractor give me a verbal ‘its fully inclusive price’. Are you sure? Does it include x and x? Oh yes fully inclusive! Ok its agreed at that price. Job done. Then invocie came in plus £10K of what was agreed. He was reminded of the conversation that we had over the phone and making a contract. I did not pay 😉

    Pawsy_Bear

ha ha ha as you agreed to pay Mike via ‘social media’ I feel a contact has been made – invoice incoming!

IMHO if its your money you should protect it yourself by whatever means necessary at your cost. Caveat emptor, ‘Let the buyer beware’ is good advice

Sorry both wrong. The price is an invitation to treat, recieve an offer for the goods.

Under UK law, the price tag on an item displayed in a shop window (or advertised over public media) is an invitation-to-treat and not an offer of sale (the acceptance of which constitutes a contract).

Once you have agreed a price you have made a contract even if its verbal. Hence ticking the Terms and Conditions box constitutes agreement of a contract between both parties.

So to answer the question even if the seller says it includes other services such as paypal protection its all conditional upon an agreement between both parties. Thus there is no right or wrong on who pays what.
