Yup could be if you believe in coincidence? They broke in and stole one bike? Doesn’t sound like a coincidence to me. Being followed sounds like they way the knew where the bike was. Waited for their moment and broke in? Random theft would have likely taken several other bikes? Still not nice.

Sorry to hear that. The common theme running through most of the thefts of good MTB bikes in the Bristol area is that they get to know where they are kept by following, forums and pictures etc. tell your mate to just check that he hasn’t inadvertently advertised the bike and it’s location. It’s also why I always drive with the bike in the boot.

Thanks Coatesy, given the experience to date I think I will pass on Ei

Tomhoward same dilemma here although I would be going Zesty AM. Bronson might suit me better because it’s short top tube and head tube. I run 50mm stem on Zesty and find its ideal for me. The geometry is very similar apart from that.

Any others got a view? Must have sold quite a few in 2013

Thanks Jimjam appreciate your candid view and experience on different bikes. Ideal to get a user perspective rather than the marketing hype

It’s the Ei bit I’m interested in Jimjam how did it preform any maintenance issues? I was just trying avoid the usual uninformed speculation.

1 x 11 is the way to go. I’m 2010 Zesty looking at 2014 AM Ei

Simpler easier shifting nothing to do with speed. Nothing to do with being pro racer.

No front mech no front shifter no front cable and all the faf that entails – should balance out some of the cost and I expect it will come down in price.

    Still about shifting for me

Google Scan, chuck a good graphic card in and it’s pretty cheap. Nothing for £200 though

Why not try both this about getting the right fit and a bit of cash for comfort has to be worth it?

Crankbros here widest float by far. Never had a problem with them. 12000km this year road and MTB . Even run them on my turbo. They get greased about once a year ha ha

Also has brilliant on road sat nav type route function. 800 is pretty robust to and you can get the whole of the UK OS maps on one card for about £90. I can’t see the need for more detailed maps TBH. I’ve used it in Europe on road as well. Garmin are the industry leaders

Use 1:50 on garmin 800 works fine, 3 hours over Exmoor today. Great for planning and grabbing other people routes. It comes with free planning software which I use all the time. Can’t fault it

ton – as your suggesting general fitness weight has been an issue I would expect much of your problems are related to this rather than heart. AF is very common and can be a symptom of more serious conditions. I assume you have been to the doctor and had this checked out? If there is something wrong and only the doctor and a ECG will tell you and like in my case prescribe a fix for the underlying cause. If its just AF then it will be improved by fitness, less weight better diet.

In all cases go to your doctor first

pacemaker here. I need to warm up at the start of ride slowly (10mins) but after that its full on. Slow heart rate and arrhythmia.

You dont mention what you have been diagnosed with?

My experience has been that whilst the boots are waterproof and warm with good thick soxs my feet have got wet as water seeped in down my legs to the tops of my soxs. Since adding a gaiter I can honestly say my feet have stayed dry and warm.

Berghaus short Glacier Gaiter. A lot easier to get on than over boots as the open completely and zip up the front also leave boot clear so no snagging. Best investment of £25 I have made.

Your best bet is to get at least three quotes for the same work from other builders. Rather then speculate from forum we cant see the work needed

Why not just use contact lenses for when your cycling? I just use them on the bike and orienteering far better and cheaper solution IMHO and very cheap

Have jawbones, they work fine inter changeable lenses great

could be fitness related, get fitter. Start with small goals and work up, include gym work as well to strengthen your whole body. Im 55 and still going strong but it requires keeping fit, gym, road and mtb. Age will limit you but not in the way your suggesting. Your not as strong as a younger person thats, strength over time (increased age) reduces.

You will be surprised at how much better you are at mountain biking when your really fit. Road will help a lot, as will intervals, turbo, hill work and gym. Throw in a couple MTB sessions a week to keep skills up

It’s your fitness level. Get fitter, more miles lose some weight.

CTC for lawyer support insurance if I get knocked off my bike. Don’t care for the politics but riding on the road needs cover

And if he had caused an accident or been seriously injured after being passed by the police, what would you then post? “surely they should have stopped him”? Its as much for his benefit and every ones protection dont blame them for doing their job.

I use the Enduro 3/4 winter bib its nice and warm and reaches half way down the calf so avoiding getting soggy at the bottom. Padded and comfortable. I like bibs best as they stay up and dont sag. Never had a problem with straps, dont notice them.

I’d recommend a second hand one. I got a great deal on a Broadman team carbon. So many buy new bikes only to then go off the idea of road cycling. Prices well under £1k.
