ED has to had one of the smoothest MMO launches yet. I’ve been in since bets. Hardware specs 760 GTX 8Gig Ram runs in ultra. I also have it on 1TB SSD which makes it really smooth. SSD is a great bang for your buck as the game essential resides like all MMOs on your HD.

If theres ice I dont ride, just aint worth the recovery if you fall off and no amount of tyres/kit will save you. Besides the other road users are also dealing with the ice I just dont want to add to the risk when my journey isnt necessary and saves a visit to already over worked AE department. Think of the consequences

I changed mine without shortening don’t seem to have been a problem assuming you shortened it correctly for 32. One tip, you will need to drop the chain completely off the crank to get the 30t over the spider. I did it when changed cassette and chain so all new gear.

Plus one for The Weldtite repair kit. Used once when I got home, sealant had done its job, but it was easy to use and repair. Check the instructions though on how to insert the tool and plug and its removal.

pump and repair kit, dont take a tube no punctures in 5 years that required more than one that required a spin of the tyre and pump back up and I carried on for another 65 miles and repaired when I got home from SDW epic. With good tyres (Maxxis HR 2 here) and good amount of fresh latex changed every six months you are unlikely to puncture. 115km around gap route and black mountains this weekend not a sniff of a puncture despite several people on tubes getting thorn punctures. I run tyres at 20 psi too.

There are instructions to get the measurement right with the chain. Run around largest rear cog not through derailer and measure with suspension compressed then shorten. Thread correctly through derailer and join.

Final descent of blade isn’t the skyline…….you have to turn left and go 20yds down fire road for last descent.

will note for next run, bah missed it last time – its not that well marked

Blade has the best bits of skyline. Was never a fan of skyline because of the double track. When you come off blade before the descent turn back up the hill climb and you can pick up whites or W2 and wall etc for great day out. The final descent of the blade is the old skyline one which is pants IMHO compared to darkside and new darkside.

Used 1 x 11 all year, I’d say wear rate is better because most of the time I have a better chain line than my XTR 3×9. Changing chains on 1×11 is super simple too with the added rear mech lock. Had same casette on all year and on third chain. If you select the right ring up front you get very good chain casette wear as your mainly in the middle gears. Those complaining about wearing out the 42t casette ring have been running to big a ring up front. I use a 32t, started with a 34t which is fine but smaller is better for overal performance. This year included 1170km Trans Portugal, four day Stage race Poland, Enduros UK, long Mynd, Wales trail centres as well as a superb summer of dry trails. So I think the cassette had a good thrashing and theirs still I think another chains life in it. A lot of speculation above based on zero long term experience

Plans are useful to hit specifi targets and should have definite ends. The genius is to convert fitness into your lifestyle. This builds a sustainable base. The higher the base level the better which is what you work on. Then you up the ante using a plan to hit your goal culminating at the event day or days. It shouldn’t bean endless beasting

Captain flash yup I’m a Spesh fan too. I had a pair of Northwave Arctic boots, the tops let the water in as their too low and are quite stiff construction isn’t as good as the 45north. The tread on . The arctic tread and sole material is very hard and tends to slip on anything hard. 45North is vibram material and fits like a glove for me. It was because of these features I was recommending 45North. Buyers should always try before buying.

Just seen the babies now they have to be waterproof and warm, no zip either http://45nrth.com/products/footwear/wolvhammer

No zip problem? Been worna dozen times I guess. I have used grease like they suggest. Their a great fit, lot better than the Northwave arctics. These are waterproof too. I expect with any zip you need tobe careful?

I think my camlbaks fine and Im sure its protected my back in a couple of of crashes. It also up out of the way and keeps my back warm. If your fit I dont think it makes any real difference where the weight is. Riders weight is the key issue here as a % of the total mass of bike + man. Im 73kg bikes 11kg QED adding 1kg to the bike or man will make little real world difference. If your suffering from too much sweat then its your fitness and layering thats wrong.

Too fragile for any serious use and lack aggressive tread. Lightness comes at a penalty

Best tip is to ‘maint’ yourself when you get back, shower and get some food in for quicker recovery. The bike will be ok and wait for its clean once the rider is ready ;->

Tubeless is awesome one minor puncture since 2010. That was fixed by simply pumping up after latex did its job. Most people have problems because they bodge it. It’s really simple with right gear. If there put on right and not ghetto they are a game changer. If your tyre burps it wasn’t fitted correctly orits damaged and you can run very low pressures getting great grip without rolls resistance

I think we all need a change in mind-set (I’m not as old as my name suggests) and give up any ideas of early retirement,

I dont agree, what is true is that that there is no norm and we all come at this from different routes with have differnet expectations. This seems obvious from the replies on this post from those that have succesfully saved and planned for their retirement and others that are somewhere else on the spectrum of provision for old age.

The state will/might deliver some sort of pension and what the individual may can provide for themselves. Short answwer is you can do something for yourself and the state my/will chip in some amount at some time. The bit you can rely on in my experience is the bit you do for yourself.

I retired early and bloody glad I have a pension, its been a second life. I now have the time and some cash to enjoy those things I couldnt because of lack of time. Your a fool if you think you can ignore your pension situation. Or rather you will be back on here bemonaing the fact.

I oil the chain every day,

you tried a dry lube and clean chain. Oil tends to attract and hold dirt. A dry clean chain maybe a solution

If you don’t like it and do not understand the point of countryside management, maybe abstain from the conversation?

brought up on farm and lived on a farm and its not countryside mangement nor am I a troll. We just have a diferent view point. BTW I have shot for my county – at paper targets 😉

why shoot the squirrels in the first place? Surely you have better things to spend your money on?

One of our friends wants to get her husband an air rifle for Christmas. Mainly to shoot squirrels with.
    Budget is £ 200 – £300.

ideal christmas present – a weapon for killing animals. says something about the person i think

I’ve got windows 8 when I up graded I didn’t reload Macfee anti virus thought defender would do it. It doesn’t stop you clicking on a bad link. I clicked on the wrong link for Firefox and was swamped by virus and crap wear programmes which took ages to remove. I’m back with Macfee and I haven suffered any attacks. Defender was on but wasn’t anywh as good as decent anti virus software. Just my experience from an average user.
