Wouldnt advise buying. Ties you to one location. Theres great skiing and MTB around the world. Why would you stay in one place? You can easy ski a place out even on a couple of week holiday. Convert cost of buying and furnishing etc into zillions of holidays around the world.

HR2 get the 60 compound for the rear and no issues with wear. On the front I use the 50 compound, it’s great tyre for all seasons. For trail centres I’d run the Trail King on the rear. I did use one on the rear off piste during the winter but switched back to HR2, it had better grip in the corners in the wet.

I bought mine the cheap car they supplied their own insurance. So if they don’t drive in a responsabile manner they will feel the appropriate pain. I’d suggest doing the same. limits your liability and puts the onus on the driver where it should be to drive carefully. Worked for my three.

So…how come time and time again I’m reading that the Bronson just isn’t great?

    their expecting a magic carpet.

If you want to ride fast and hard then its a great bike. In one year mines been to Portugal, Poland, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Italy Apennines, India and UK Enduros and it hasn’t put a foot wrong. Next stop BC Canada Trans Rockies in July then on to another couple weeks in the Rockies. Right wrong bike? Dont know but it suits my current style and ability to hit stuff without being deflected 😉

Demo one, if you like it great go ride, if not move on theirs lots of good bikes out there. Nomad looks a great bike too, havent tried one yet but who knows …..

You dont undo anything on the grease gun or nipples. Just snap on and pump away until clean greese comes out somewhere. Mine works fine.

    Did I read this correctly

I realised it was a cyclist on the pavement on my left hand side. He started to come off the pavement and I started to react. I started to brake and steer around the cyclist.

Seems to suggest he rode off the pavement into the road and the driver took avoiding action but failed to react quickly enough?

Its alway difficult to get the full and correct story of what happened and what evidence is presented. Im not trying to lessen or apportion blame but I could see how this might be mitgating circumstances and reasonable doubt

I use Dogtag as it includes being rescued ie if I need a helicopter etc. on getting to hospital my experience was that they were only interested in my EHIC. Dogtag covers repatriation too, hospital and rescue. You obviously need to select the right level of cover. If your doing a few trips a years cover is pretty cheap IMHO

I think third party only covers you for the damage you might inflict during the race, ie crashing into a spectator

So I have taken it of him and am returning it and now have a very upset boy

not this, its his birthday and you take away his present? Nice going. You’ve just exhibited the same bigotry and sectarianism

bigotry, discrimination, or hatred arising from attaching importance to perceived differences between subdivisions within a group, such as between different denominations of a religion, class, regional or factions of a political movement.

Will be 57 this year, retired 55. I ride most days road, MTB and days off the bike (rest days) are gym about twice a week. I’d suggest that you need to mix up riding length and intensity. If you ride about the same distance, same time, same intensity you will plateau and actually lose fitness as your body adapts to the physical load.

Change ride length, add hill, session, longer rides, shorter rides, fast rides. include gym session to balance the increased strength of your legs. Strong arms, back and core will make you faster. Add skills session where you practice climbing, drop offs etc etc

I kept my 26″ 2010 Zesty, second hand bike values arent good. Makes a great bike for trail/easy stuff. Made sense to keep it and even upgrade to 1 x 11 for value for money. I ride my 27 mostly.

Yeah I’d give its go. As long as you stay within your comfort zone, stop for feeds, hydrate. Biggest danger is pushing too hard. Remember it’s not a race. Expect to be slow to stay within your comfort zone. Get a few longer rides in if you can.

There isn’t anything important on this machine, but it is used for banking and the like.

all the more reason to secure your laptop. Maybe all you need to do is configure macfee.

Still using Windows Me? Time to upgrade.

using 8.1 and as we know we will have a free upgrade to Win 10 because its so good 😀

One other point is to make sure you update Windows regularly to get the free security patches etc

finally managed to rid myself of the preinstalled mcafee

why Ive used it for years and remained infection free? On up grading to Win 8.1 I decided like you I would use Widows security. After clicking accidentally a bad link I was infected with malware etc. That was only a quick google search to re install Fire fox on a new computer. I clicked the wrong site. Went back to mcafee. What I like is the great big screen that says in big red letters ‘we tested the site and its maybe infected’. I didnt see MS stuff give me a second chance.

I’m no expert but the anti virus software guys spend all their time making bespoke software to help combat attacks on computers. Where as MS Windows has a rather lack lustre record of making some poor OS software.

There’s little actual weight difference in the frame between Bronson and Solo. The forks etc being smaller so the Solo is lighter.

I have a Bronson and my old 2010 714 Zesty, both 1 x 11. I still ride both, the Bronson is faster overall. Both are mediums but the Zesty is the same size as a large Bronson. I like the smaller frame on the Bronson its simply more manoeuvrable and the suspension is better. 650 tyres provide more grip patch contact with the ground which I like for technical climbs.

When I went out to replace the Zesty I developed the wish list from my Zesty geometry which I liked. I discounted bikes that were massively outside the geometry. My heart was set on a new Zesty which I demoed. Then I got a demo on the Bronson. I knew it was the bike for me.

If someone beats you up a hill – its because their fitness is better than yours (given the bikes are roughly the same weight).

Also its not all about the speed up. Alomg and down is just as important, which bike overall did you like best? Choose that one.

Today. Got a Boardman road bike that has SRAM gears. So to down shift you pull the leavers to the rear and then across – not just force the leavers straight across resulting in horrible shiffting? Only had the bike a year ……

It’s the soft compound version. I use them on the front, on the back they wear too quickly and nobs give way. Use the harder compound on the back think it’s 60

my karchers doing great thanks. Most people dont know that you need to run the water through pressure washers first or you burn out the pumps as they air lock in the pump heads. Works great on bike too with pressure set lower.

Where you will see a drop in maximum heart rate is during say long multi day events. Over a week or ten days you will see your maximum achieved heart rate show a downward trend. That’s caused by fatigue and tiredness. That also tells you that before doing a max HR test you should be fully rested etc. If you have a medical see if your cardiologist will conduct the test and give you your MHR.

No real point in monitoring it more than say yearly. Improved fitness will increase your lactic threshold upwards. which means you can go harder and faster for longer. But for us old guys strength reduces with age and that’s also pretty much inevitable even with lots of training. So age is a large factor

Nothings wrong really, a new bike give it time. Swapping out bits after first ride isnt the solution. Slow down, ride more, learn then decide. Do circuits around your favourite loop. Try different speeds, get to learn how the bike feels. I think thats the general concensus of opinion, more riding, more skills. Get a lesson. Ive done a few throughout my years of riding and they are worth the investment.

The only thing I can see on your pictures is that the saddle needs to be leveled. Level with the ground. It looks a little nose high.

Maximum heart rate cannot increase it decreases with age.
