I’d agree about the black mountain route but beware if you have never been in the mountains. Gap route is the safe option.

I wouldn’t blame the English and for handing refugees a warm coat and a few euros and putting them on the train north.

Again depends where you ride but FS or HT are fun in their own ways. If I had to have one bike it would be FS

But, what will have changed by the next dead line? Lets assume that they get the money. Will it be enough to give them a chance to turn this crisis around in the short term and meet the future repayment schedule without further last minute deals?

    1. Loose weight
    2. Get fitter, more long rides
    3. Interval sessions
4.Increase leg strength at gym using weights
    5. Turbo interval sessions in very high gear, not spin
    6. Do not stand and climb as you lose rear wheel traction on MTB so practice climbing sat on the seat

There’s nothing special about hills its a combination of power to weight ratio. Less weight more power is what you want.

Technique can help, the lowest gear isnt always the best for climbing. Spinning like a nutter just increases hear rate. Try slightly higher gear keeps hear rate lower. On techy climbs you need to blast up or get over obstacle a higher gear can help to.

Points one and two are key 😉

    This plus 1

It’s worth noting most of the trails there are dug by volunteers who don’t have limitless time and money

One simple fact, they spent the money therefore they are required to repay it. Lets not dress it up.

Greece spent the money propping up some pretty unsustainable polices and papering over their long term problems

    Historic high levels of inflation
Lack of economic policy credibility, pensions, tax collection etc
Greek governments have run excessive budget deficits even in the good times
Lack of competitiveness of the Greek economy
Extremely large and inefficient public administration sector

None of which arent problems in other countries but once the world wide crisis hit 08 – 09 the Greeks werent in a good position to weather the storm because of their long term unaddressed underlying problems.

Without significant meaningful financial reform they should not get any more cash

Tubeless is really good. Assume this is your rims http://www.wtb.com/pages/tcs

Could be you need tape? If not then they weren’t seated fully. I use a couple tops of stans, don’t skimp, pump to 40psi. You sometimes hear a loud crack as they seat fully. Leave overnight. Reduce to 20psi go ride

Also check the valve is fully seated and has a rubber o ring between it and the rim.

My gut feeling is that they weren’t fully seated

I asked because in both cases you mention that both forks ‘over time’ became harsher. Slow degredation of performance typicaly indicates they need a full service, replace the lube, seals etc etc

Its a two way thing, have you rang him, visited him? Go and talk to him not by letter, visit and chat over coffee or whatever

Lots of people see the issue in terms of their own happiness. Don’t forget the most important people in this ‘is the children’ thier happiness and the impact you and your partner will have on them. They don’t get a vote.

HR2.3 upfront trail king on the rear for summer as experiment. HR is by far the better tyre for grip cornering etc IMHO. I also appreciate HRs robust qualities

but the wrong rotation, think it will be on your mind all the time nagging away? Am I losing grip or not so fast because the tyres on the wrong way around? Oh the nighmares…..

Bit of washing up liquid round the bead then pump up til they pop into place.

He’s covered by EHIC. From my small experience in Spain that’s all they were interested in even though I had separate private insurance.

Speaking a someone who has been on a number of school trips as an adult (as a parent and governor at the school) the staff want everyone (including themselves) to have a good time on the trip and wouldn’t do anything that would result in unnecessary hassle for themselves or anyone else.

well said, my experience too. The teachers and parent helpers are, I’m sure, doing their best

no and I wouldnt interfere. Because it would have a negative imapct on my children by undermining their trust in the teachers or by constantly contacing them on a simple trip showing I lack confidence in them and the teachers.

    got three children

would you put on bike shorts to go down the pub?

we stop at pub on ride, grab food etc yeah

going oput for evening Id throw my jeans on

shorts are hot and catch the seat, worse in the wet the hold a gallon water and droop causing more problem.

When its cold in winter, yup I wear my shorts or enduro single track trousrs and keep warm. In the summer? Nah

ok nothing special, slipper stones (more rock that peaks ;-)) and the forest MTB red and black out there is the best. Long Mynd – one big long smooth hill.

I started with 34 then droped to 32 then 30. TBH 30 means I have to double shift up but overal its a better gear. I did Trans Portugal on 34 and wish I had a 30 🙂

Really depends on your fitness and steepness but 30 for me is great alround

Try a 30 its easy to change rings and chain length and you might be surprised

Then I’d agree with the OP and get the hoses and olives refitted. There a cracking brake

I just use the power hose when I clean the bike, easy, quick, effective and cost zero. Dry chain and oil or dry lube.
