if your wearing out 42 ring quickly I suggest dropping to 30 or 28t up front. It will mean you spend less time on the 42 and get a better chain line reducing wear. On 4th chain and cassette is still good to go.

not required, never had an issue

any authority did decide to start enforcing

this always quoted; what authority? Police (legaly able to enforce the law) but no law is being broken and they arent going to waste their time, owners, rangers or public – no authority to do anything

Am I about to stop and give my name and address?

    So the problem is….

I think they will get debt relief eventually if Greece follows the plan. What Greece has got to do first is change its economic policies. Show some positive reforms. No debt relief without genuine realistic engagement to solve their long term economic issues. Just reading between the lines

For the record my AF moment happened at my desk at work not in the saddle. In fact in my case they happen when Im resting as your heart rate drops and it isnt masked by a higher heart rate when your working hard. So dont go assuming it will only show up under hard physical exercise.

57, just back from 3 weeks in BC – Trans Rockies then 2 weeks MTB more in BC. Last year Trans Portugal etc etc Trans Alps etc etc. Endurance dosent decline as much as you age, no I’m not as fast as the younger ones. But hey I do enough to enjoy and take in the scenery 😉 and interestingly over the longer rides Im way faster than most of the younger ones. Of course rest is important, this weeks rest week maybe total six to seven hours only training.

People die, but its not because its too hard. I have the same lump as that guy in the photo. I also have a pace maker. If you need one I can assure you will know 😉 When I went in to the doctors, he just picked up the phone and rang for an ambulance. I was grey apparently 😀

As the doctor points out AF is caused by something else not being right that needs to be cured or controled. If you have AF and after the tests everything is ok they will fit a pace maker because its the electrical circuits that are damaged and not controling your heart. You can then return to your fitness (my simplistic view).

Of course if your like the guy in the article who admits he was burning the candle at both ends then clearly the stress, lack of sleep etc will have an effect over time. Clearly there is a balance to be struck.

He has to resign so there can be an ellection. As he says he’s seeking the backing of the Greek people because he didnt manage to get the deal he was ellected on. Given his popularity rating etc this will see him elected again with a firm mandate to continue making the best deal he can get.

retired for the past 2 years and Im fitter and more skilled now than I was before. I cycle gym as much as I want. No aches or pains here thanks. Getting old also has some advantages, more time, wiser (maybe :-)) Learn to relax in to old age, dont fight it.

Play the cards your dealt. Dont sit there waiting for the ace 😉

Think its a smart move to get a solid vote for his policies so far and this will allow him to go forward with increased an majority. Will also quieten the doubters or give him a free hand to move them.

I’d advise you to ride a lot more and practice the difficult bits. Not just weekends. Fitness also helps a lot. The one thing I could suggest is to have some good tyres. Just try a Minion 2.3 DHF and DHR. You might be surprised at the difference in grip than say a Rocket Ron! 😀

oldtalent, its not a trail centre, its funded by donations and hard work. Hopefully you dropped a £10 in the tin then we will be able to update it 😉

Who needs signs, go ride and discover there are loads of lines down.

but really, surely it cant be hard to have an upto date map?

You can volunteer to do this if you want

Three weeks in Canada and I’d say most are using 2.3 Minions Front and rear. Or HR up front minion on rear seems popular. Awesome combo’s and great traction. Not slow on trails or the peda upl. Beyond black diamond trails, bigger the better

Plus one for skyline cycles – there when you need them. I’ve used the. Several times, always helpful and will get you back on the road again so you don’t miss a weekend of trails.

Had two sets of Giro Terraduro, in both cases the sole delaminated from the upper. And this was on the new 2015 version that was supposed to be fixed. Had a cash refund bought Mavic Enduro shoes. They are better than the Giro even if it didn’t have a quality control issue. I like the ankle cuff keeps the dirt out, better closer fitting with the pull up tab. More aggressive vibrant sole. Currently using them on week two of three in Canada in 35 degree heat. No issues and they are proving to be a tough shoe so far

Checked cable is positioned in shifter ok? I’d change outer cable rear mech sounds ok. If not then sounds like shifter. Not had same problem. Was the chain replaced and measured correctly with fully compressed suspension?

Research area via Google area for gpx files, web sites etc string together a rough route and then explore using my garmin. Keep my eyes open and follow likely trails. Posting on forums can turn up a local who will show you the good stuff too. OS maps are fine but show zero single track

Doing a bit of research via the web is just my way of cutting down on fruitless trails that are dead ends or go nowhere. Also I often have a idea of a places I’d like to link up via good trails.

I rarely stop on the trail, as I said my planned route is a guide I take whatever trails I find but let that guide me in the general direction.

Age had nothing to do with it. It was when I thought they were responsible enough. We built trust and it was reciprocated. There comes a time when you have to show them you trust them and they see that and become confident. You have then established the start of trust between yourself and your child. Casting around for some arbitrary rule or norm to give you confidence isn’t the way to proceed. Take responsibility and make the right call

If you have a reverb dropper post bleed kit syringe just take out the valve core and screw the syringe in. Plunger out. Pour in sealent. Usual goes down ok with a few taps or use the plunger. Works a treat on tubeless tyres.

Maybe check the bottom bracket hights if your into more rugged terrain. Bronson is higher than Nomad and 5010. Makes rock gardens etc easier with less potential for pedal strike. It’s more your do it all bike. I think the Bronson is the sort of bike you can take anywhere and not be out your depth.

plus 1 for OS maps 50k are very useable also very much needed when I use base camp for plotting stuff as it can use the OS map as well.

I tend to use the OS map and trail as as guide a direction as in most cases trails and tracks move over time.

Also the OS maps on the SD micro card fit in the other Garmin devices 1000 and the Oregon etc which have much larger screens

I’d have put that the other way around Bronson for rough stuff, but their both very capable bikes. You need to demo them both. We are all different riders. My own experience was that I kinda grew out of my Zesty 140mm and could use the extra travel and stiffness. Depends where you are on the evolutionary trails ha ha I still have my 2010 Zesty and still enjoy riding it.

I could certainly see myself ordering a Solo as my next bike to replace the Zesty. A Nomad would be nice but I’m more enduro type rider.

    Bottom line, demo them

Interestingly the frames are almost identical and a few grams difference in weight. That’s what made my mind up and why I choose a Bronson. Was riding those trails you mention a couple months ago on my Broson. Certainly easier with 150mm suspension, Bronson build is more rugged. Not sure weight wise there is a huge difference. What I appreciate is that they are very manoeuvrable
