1st advice to all – dont leave the house. You dont need to move out. I didn’t and I wouldn’t advise anyone to do it. We had a good easy divorce. And yes Id use a solicitor.

    > ‘the woman always has teh right to the house’ > rubbish, urban myth and why you need good advice from a solicitor not the internet

get back into the house and stay and be with your children. You can have a divorce and an amical settlement. Splitting the house becomes part of the settlement.

I changed my 2010 zesty to SRAM 11 speed from 3X9 no issues can’t see it being a problem. You will need a SRAM hub but that should be just an outer.

I use gorilla tape and electric tape in road rims. Works just as well. Electric is brilliant, sticky and pulls tight

1030 for navigation is brilliant. Good size screen. Map updates for free. On off road map. Good battery life. I’ve got 800, 1000, 650 Oregon. 1030 is best.

Changed bearings on Bronson and the bolt was cross threaded. SC no problem after receipt new frame came two weeks later. Not a rear triangle, whole frame. Threaded BB brilliant, jungle here’s my receipt new free bearings please  etc etc. My next bike will be a SC. I demo quite a few before opting for SC. VPP was a bit of a revelation after being a confirmed 4 bar rider. Still happy 5 years in.

ride the bike you got, save huge amount of money. If your an older guy you might still appreciate the rear suspension. I do.

Can I suggest demoing a HT just to remind yourself what the difference is before you buy. Cheap £30 I suspect will get you a day/half day. Might just change your mind.

four – if you cycle Zwift is the way to go. Turbo and power far more beneficial than spinning. Erg and power makes you work way harder. Great for structured work outs. Zwift is the icing on the cake, fun, group rides, races etc. It keeps you working. Boredom is your enemy with aps. Ive tried them all. Plus I dont see the point in paying out £1500 then baulking at cost of zwift :-) Id take a lesser turbo option and use zwift if money was a problem. Look on the forums Zwift changes training like night and day.

    look here https://www.dcrainmaker.com/product-reviews/trainers

There is only a couple of indoor bikes that use zwift etc Atom, TCAX bike and Elite (16000 euros)

Without zwift etc then there are loads. https://www.concept2.co.uk/bikeerg/concept2-bikeerg But no zwift etc for that its power/turbo setup

The main thing to remember is be smooth and maintain your cadence. The trainer will apply the load at whatever rpm your spinning at. If you go over your planned limit it will ease off. So if your within a few watts of the target your ok. Dont stress to be spot on its almost impossible to achieve. On big sharp increases – increase your power smoothly and quickly but try not to overshoot as the trainer – then you will try and compensate to bring you under the set power.

well Simon if its as good as your summer bike then why buy two of the same spec? Maintain one and save a few £k. Just ride the one you got. I think by implication most have a cheaper winter bike.

<you can get a perfectly serviceable winter bike for less than the price of a drivetrain of a good summer bike>

ultegra chain 30, 2 rings 90, casette 35 – dont equal new bike LoL

winter road bike – pay twice to ride and maintain a lesser bike. Makes no sense.

If its just a bit of gravel even 25 or 25 tyres will cope, specially tubeless. Ive got a canyon endurance bike. Carbon wheels 28mm and its been up some muddy and rocky trails in Spain. Same wheels on the CX. Its di2 etc so is the top end cx. Gravel bikes = sales hype

Canyon Endurance SLX disk/di2. If I was to buy another bike it would I would buy another of these. Fast light reliable. The geometry is a little more relaxed so you can ride 90% in the drops. Very comfortable bike. Package is amazing value. Not rode a Tarmac. A few of us in the club bought Canyon. All very impressed.

great drama BBC well done. Its news worthy because its popular.

frankly since they stopped wearing dinner suits to read the news its gone down hill :-D

Id reset the limit screws. Id check the chain length and b screw adjustment on largest front and rear. Id take the central cog and use di2 adjustment to get it to run correctly. Other than that Id take the casette off and make sure its put back on fully and tightened down and gear hanger is straight. I find I need only a few clicks on the di2 leavers to get my setup to run correctly. TBH once setup it rarely if ever needs resetting. I just slap a new chain on and it runs prefect. I would not add washers etc. It shouldn’t need it. Have you changed from 11 to 12 speed? If so then software needs resetting? On the largest rings the rear mech should be pointing to 5 oclock if b screw and chain length is correct.

Ive noted chain checkers vary between makes. I measured a new chain with mine and its about 0.75 with a park chain tool. So I run mine to about 0.9-1.0. Not had a problem. When you change it measure the new chain to see what you checker thinks and add 0.25 would be my advice. When Ive run a chainset to death the only issue was I had to keep increasing the B tension screw.

Schwalbe Pro Ones 28mm no issues run 55psi rolls well. Top up stans every 3000km no issues. Stopped carrying repair kits in Feb. Like my MTB tubeless if fitted and maintained seems flawless. Have had punctures. Ones on the front I saw small white air stream but just kept pedalling they sealed quickly.

Its not your tyres. Mostly roots are a problem because people break/steer/pedal over them. Hit 90 degree straight on, with some speed, pedals flat, ass off the saddle and relax and it shouldn’t be an issue. Also low tyre pressures will help. Under 20 psi ;-) on 2.3s.

    Changing tyres wont help much

I’m always reminded of Dave Allen’s end to his show ‘may your god go with you’. I always thought this hit the right note and its guided me ever since in how to deal with a secular world. That and tolerance.

Old bike on TCAX Vortex for last 3 years very happy. Would consider going to trainer bike just waiting until they come out. Id buy second hand smart trainer if your in doubt. Loads around. Id certainly recommended smart over any other option. Zwift is great fun :-)

Have a mk 1 carbon. Brilliant bike. Is CC worth it? Don’t know but a set of carbon wheels is where I put my money. Genuine game changer as is good light wheels on any bike. For what it’s worth when I buy a new Bronson I’ll be buying the reserve wheels. Currently on sram roam carbon. Don’t trust carbon? 🤦‍♂️

Had one for last few years been faultless with zwift. They should be cheap pre owned now. I bought cheap second bike, stripped it down and use it setup all the time. Most people have n+1 I guess so why not a dedicated turbo bike. Saves the faff. Tyre dosent slip its not an issue once you’ve set it up correctly. Its a far better turbo than the average rider needs.

They dont and it belongs to someone else. Why do people think anything in the countryside is theirs for free? Happens here all the time people rock up and help themselves

well on my gauge a new chain starts about 0.5 and I dont replace it until 1. SRAM 1×11. Get a gauge and do your chains yourself and save money. I get 4 chains easy to a drive train over the year. Put a new chain on and measure it and go from there.

On 1×11 this <<span style > he’s had to replace his cassette < means the front ring is too big. He should drop down a size or 2 and get a better chain line ie pedals mostly in the centre of the cassette on the metal rings. The biggest ring is made of  aluminium so it wears quickly. Should only be used for the very steep bits. Or, get fitter :-)

Start maintaining your own bike and you will save a load of money.

Its easy. Your innocent until proven guilty. That’s the law in most of the world. Anything else is just speculation. So I see no issues with him continuing to race.

20-25 psi here no issues, rocky Morocco didn’t phase them. As for pressure depends on your weight and how you ride I guess. I’m using an Aggressor now also a very good tyre.
