Yup done it. And Trans Portugal and Trans Rickies.

I took my Zesty 140mm 26″. Be prepared for 30 plus degrees to pushing through snow in the Dolimities. Yes you need to be fit and importantly a good leathery ass. Not technical but loads climbing, 3000m plus each day. Accom in sports halls isn’t too bad, I used a couple hotels too. Partners, someone you can get on with and about the same fitness and commitment. Practice multi day rides. Hand wash powder to wash gear. They transport your bag to stage end each day.

It’s not the bike, invest in the man or lady.

Did Penmachno on weekend great fun ploughing through huge puddles, great all weather trail. First time Id been there. Maybe explore more when its better weather :-D I had to pedal hard down some bits as the wind was gusting hard in places. Made a nice change from FoD

I use my foot on the tyre trapping it to the floor then push the wheel away. Maybe a twist helps sometimes. Try it in garage once you get it it works a treat

No leavers required no damage to wheel

    I have 661

but use these all the time arm and leg because there comfy. Yup light not as much protection but I wear it all the time. And thats the important bit. 661 I tend to forget or only use occasionally when its Canada black diamond or say bike park day

What else would you expect from REME

Unfortunately, it’s very much not a piss take and it wasn’t someone leaving their computer unlocked either…

been there, its typical mess joke seen similar many times on different ‘important subjects’ of mess etiquette. For example it would not be addressed to ‘subbies’.

If youve been in the system then you would spot the rest of the intended puns. Captains that stand in for subbies ha ha ha, Enough said ….. numerous others

put some extra clothes on, warm top, soxs, hat? Change bedding sheets fitted sheet etc to flannel not cotten you will be surprised how warm you are. Mines set at 16c.

If your sat in shorts and T shirt you got it wrong. I have seen this and as they open the door a huge waft of hot air escapes. Also far better to heat the house at a low heat than one room very hot. Also make sure you ventilate as well. Condensation build up is bad for your health and the house and will cost more to put right.

I’ve been 1×11 on 30t ring, hasn’t stopped me getting up hills. I wouldn’t bother changing if your unfit or your gears new. Think about it once you 2×10 gear is worn out. I upgraded 2010 zesty to 1×11 after the 3×9 gear was completely worn out. It’s a light bike I’m running 32t ring, Bronson I run 30t.

1×11 is simple, less clutter and great on the trails. All the gears in swift leaver move. I can see a place for 2×10 if your bike packing, long multi day MTB. Saying that I did Trans Portugal on 32t. That was a bit high, one of the top ten was on a 30t. A lot more sensible ha ha

I use double the stans to 4 cups, it sits st the bottom of the tyre. 40psimsi it cracks in to position, swing tyre around to get stans all over inside. I leave overnight then run about 18psi in both at moment, 20 front 25 rear in summer. Top up by removing the valve and pumping in new stans every 6 months.

If you get a flat, don’t take whatever’s in out. Spin wheel until stans spurts out if not already stopped, pump up ride on.

got a compressor so not an issue, I find using some stans as a lube on the rim helps

Normally with a new tyre I can get them up with track pump

TBH this happens regularly in our forest, no issues they have to manage the land. From what I see they dont destroy them. Its the machines that tracks across them but thats not the same as scrubbing them off completely. The cost would be prohibitive and pointless. Its normal forestry management damage. They will be gone in a few months. Our trails are back in use almost the moment they have gone, if not before. We all need to be tolerant and share what we have, even with walkers :-D ok thats a step too far :-D

45mins – hour is all thats needed in the gym and Id recommend 2 – 3 days between each session. Allow body to recover and adapt

    For strength 70 – 80% body weight reps 6 x 6 or 8 x 8

Objective is to be able to build some leg muscle to get a KOM

I’d suggest turbo and diet to loose a few kg. Improve your power to weight ratio to go faster.

Gym is good for strengthing the rest of the body. Legs as above but turbo would build quicker better

I use the gym but 90% of time is spent in saddle road MTB/intervals/tempo etc turbo. I use the gym to strengthen the rest of my body to balance the legs.
