Oh one general tip is get your bike race setup say three weeks before. Go ride. If it dosent break/fail in those couple weeks before the race its very unlikely to fail on the event. Don’t start these with some new kit you just put on. Go with try and trusted.

Good luck out there, I may be back next year :-) Afte rthe race last year I went up to Ferny etc for extra couple weeks.

Canada has the best singletrack, quantity and quality

The single track makes it double hard on the up. Ive done a few multi days and I thought given the distance it would be a walk in the park. Wrong. Climbing was hard, no double track. Hardly.

if you add up cost of endure shorts and a bib …. I’m a long term user of endure good kit. But these have it. No slippage or catching on the saddle.

    Tips for Transrockies.

Arrive at to give yourself at least one whole day after flight, set up bike recover from flight.

Good single track skills. Practice singletrack climbs, there is a lot of singletrack climb. It makes it quite hard. Practice single track, say Afan, CyB all day. Climb 1500m – 2000m back to back on training days.

Find a pace along singletrack you can maintain when its unseen, may mean slightly slower. Think red routes and some black in places. We had loam, rocks, sand you name it. Flow with the trail. Crashing will ruin your day. The North shore stuff was low level and great fun but requires attention as its sometimes exposed!

Tyres, its very rocky in parts, again don’t want to loose time faffing some Rocket Ron. Choose something sensible.

Unless your super human, arm yourself with a FS. There were a few HTs last year but very few. And I mean very few.

Was very hot in places in the valleys about 37 degrees. Can be a lot cooler on the mountain ski resort days at say 2000m. Some come prepared. Sun cream ofc and good hydration. I used camlbak.

    Admin
hand wash for gear and dry in room, sun cream, post ride bottles for hydration, I make my own energy bars, plugs/chargers, own medical stuff

But above all else enjoy! Its the one mutli day event I would do again. Beats the pants of the rest.

Joburg2C this year. Cape Epic, just pretty hard, full on XC lacks the fun bit for me. Besides its not solo.

Spent Xmas new year in Cape Town with these guys http://www.irideafrica.com/

outstanding riding and accommodation food. Maybe going back this year

plus 1 TF Tuned, I use their fork oil to lube shock/fork. Use cotton ear buds, dip and apply. Simple easy

    plus 1

    BPW is flat and smooth

Yes FoD could be better but there you go. Instead of wanting everywhere to be the same, embrace the difference. Its not about which is best. Its just different. If you want to help change it turn up and dig/maintain ;-)

25c way better IMHO, wont be going back to 23c. I think 25 is actually faster. Seems to roll better

No part of the video shows him actually touching the cyclist, just a wobble after they pass. So I’m going with driving without due care…

its attempted assault, regardless that he didn’t actually made contact. He intended to cause injury

26.55 lbs XO build 2015 pikes xt brakes, XT trail pedals HR2 and SRAM Roam 60s. Think it could be light, I’m drawn to Hans Damf tyres which may lower it a tad.

groomed trails? look away now. Launchpad is just groomed, if you want that I’d suggest getting a road bike. Roads have bigger longer runs.

They do the best they can with the resources they have

this plus 10 – how about dropping in and giving a hand rollingdoughnut plus friend?

Up grade the riders fitness by buying a turbo and training plans, all three bikes will be seen to faster. Biggest bang for your buck. Or save it up for summer MTB holiday.

good your ok. He has to report an accident to his insurance. He has to give you his details. Report it to police, lbs for bike. If your ctc or other one contact their legal dept. If you go down the do it yourself route theres no guarantee that the driver will pay up. I doubt he has any idea how much a bike costs. Get checked out by doctor in the morning and rest up. Accident can shake you up. I’d skip the MTB ride.

take valve out use the stans injector straight into valve core, job done. I used to take a bit of tyre off but this is way easier

Id check the valve area. I use rubber ring seal under the valve nut. Also pump to 40psi, leave overnight so it cracks into position. Did you shake the stans before use? Stans will seal pretty big holes.

Its not your job to chase, as they all have said tell your insurance company and they will track the details

The thing is I want make a 3rd party claim on their insurance, not mine- as I was not at fault.

forget this, let the insurers sort it out. Its based on facts. You took photos etc let them have it. They will send you forms to fill in etc to tell them what happened

bronson is a better all rounder IMO and certainly no slouch, the faster and harder you ride the bronson the more stable it feels,

plus 1 this, if your looking for a trail couch, walk away now.

Demo the bikes then choose the one that suits your riding.

No issues as TF Tuned found the problem, all I had to do was send receipt. Week later new forks. I think it pays to have them serviced by experts

At best all they would do is put up some A4 bit of paper nailed to a random tree closing the trail. Would that deter anyone? The lines would still be there. Any trail official or otherwise is use at you own risk.

How can anyone blame anyone else for the state of the trail? By definition I would want it bumpy and difficult etc? We have the family trail for everything else.

Firstly disconnect exercise and diet. You need a good balanced diet but you can’t out exercise a poor diet. You can gain some recovery speed by eating in the 45mins after exercise. You maybe dehydrated during your exercise, drink more and fuel during exercise. As you get fitter you will need less. Body needs time to adapt. Hard weeks followed by easy weeks repeat. Don’t over compensate with food. On intensity. Remember there is a difference between training and smashing oneself. The former is recommended. Aim for quality and quantity will follow. Along the way you will learn what works for you. Don’t expect quick changes.Good luck
