Once again thanks for the advice everyone. Still getting drawn towards the Dorking/Woking/Guildford direction.
Brighton is just too far out of the way otherwise I'd have been there.

    Thanks again.

As a rule when I retailed Shimano shoes, everyone went up 1 Euro size be it Road or MTB.
    Hope this helps.

Mid 30's, single, good wage, will want to go into London every other weekend maybe, coming back from a bad injury so will be sticking to the gentler side of riding for a bit.
Don't really go out clubbing any more, but enjoy a nice meal out.

Thanks for all the great advice everyone.

    Hey Ady,

Things are good mate. How's life in Molini? Still ripping up Agrifolio?

No public transport needed, and don't really need to be near a train station as I'll be driving 90% of the time so hope to get a nice place for around £800ish (or less) all in. Is this unrealistic?
Thanks for all the advice so far everyone.

On the road covering everywhere from Kent to Hampshire and from Brighton into London so am pretty flexible as to where I can live. Close to a mainline station would be nice.
Will have a look at Woking and Kingston.
    Thanks so far peeps.

Moved from a wee East coast town in Scotland to Belfast in the mid-80's when I was 16. Was pretty full on hearing heavy calibre machine gun fire echoing across the Lisburn Rd from West Belfast.
Heard the odd bomb as well.
Also remember a bus being hijacked and left across the top of Tates Avenue; the UDR banged on the door and I wouldn't open it because I thought they said UDA. Only when they said there could be a bomb in the bus, and to open all the windows in the house to try to minimise damage!
Constant helicopters buzzing around. Spotlights sweeping across the garden every so often and your bedroom being illuminated for a second.
    Different city now.

Nice. Been thinking about a Niner since I saw the complete bike jungle had with them at Bike Radar.

Please post pics once you've finished the build!

Erring towards the Guildford/Dorking area. Brighton is just a little bit too far south but I have a friend there…

    Decisions decisions.

I love my VP-Free but it's no all-mountain rig. Defo gravity only tbh.

Off to Perth for the winter. Had enough of this rain already.

Switched to a MacBook 18 months ago, and never looked back. It's a cliche, but they do just work. They're also much more tactile and stable.

    Do it!

Big stack at the bottom of the Cwmcarn DH course = dislocated wrist and a grade 2 open compound fracture of the radius. 3 operations to put in 3 pins, 6" plate, 12 screws and 2 wires which were taken out 3 weeks ago. Off the bike since mid July, but hopefully back to 'gentle cycling' by the new year. Maybe racing again for the summer.
Havn't been able to do any exercise until now really, so will get a turbo on the go through the winter if the physio ok's it.

Great trails, mixed organisational skills though…
If they sorted that I'd be back.

Cwmcarn uplift day 7 weeks ago when I crashed on the big double at the bottom of the DH run and dislocated my wrist and a grade 2 open compound fracture of my right radius.
Off the bike for 12 – 18 months.

    It sucks.

+1 for SKF. Have their stainless model, BFR600? on 3 bikes for 4 years and they're all good as new.

I have a set of CR Mags and love them. Taken off a set of the new XT's with 180/160 rotors and gone to 160/140; muche more powerful and better modulation, not to mention significantly lighter.

Met Kaos UL for me too. Had a Xen before and prefer the fit of the Met.
Get the one that fits you best though.

emac65; all new brakes are an open system to allow for fluid expansion.

X9 is more of an XT equivalent.

SRAM more snappy and positive in the shift imo.

Haha, sorry DezB. Don't know why I thought you were of the female variety.

I liked the non-UST Rampages I had on a couple of years back. Not so sure about grippier than a High Roller though Si. As for the dress, what I can't remember didn't happen.

Och, now just hang on a minute lassie.

Did you know that you can use Panaracer PR tyres on UST rims with a wee drop of sealant? Not only are they cheaper than the UST versions, but they weigh about 200g less as well!

I'd stick with Maxxis though. 2.35 LUST High Rollers all the way in the Alps.

Having just moved to the South East of England, and regularly driving by myself I treated myself to a Tomtom 1 IQ. £150 from Halfords, and comes with full UK, Ireland and European (42 countries) mapping.
It’s so much handier than using a map by yourself; you can use the postcode, address, even longitude and latitude to let it know where you want to go! Small enough to carry about with you as well, and you can get it to give directions if you’re walking.

    Finding it really handy.

Its not carbon, nor is it especially ground-breaking or ultra ultra light over whats available now. Its USP is ‘you can do away with a third ring’ WOW!..

Shows how much you know Hora.

Panaracer PR tyres will work too.

I have ridden a Harley, and it was the biggest pile of shite I have ever thrown my leg over.

Purely for poseurs, imo. Under-powered, over-priced, under-braked, shit round a corner. Total style (debatable) over substance.

    Ridden by wannabe Peter Fonda-likes.

    I hate Harleys.

Arlen Ness on the other hand…

No, it’s XX, as in X0, and will be available from the end of this year/start of next.

Cassette is totally redesigned now, so not nearly as noisy.

Love my X0, much crisper shift than Shimano. But let’s be honest both groupsets are great pieces of kit.

Hey Jimbo, couldn’t agree more about the last bit of singletrack. Good to meet you and the rest of the Surgery guys. I’ll post pics up later today when I can drag my arse out of bed…
