Not sure why marshalling is mentioned as a cost above but from my experience marshalls are voluntary.
The events I’ve helped with have all fed and watered the marshals, that costs money.

Marshals get £65 a head at the ukge

Ardrock enduro near on doubled in price in 1 yr. great course , but **** me 100% mark up. Stick that. Can’t blame people for milking the latest fashion. Just a shame it’s ours.

Living right on the northeast coast & riding to & from work 5 days a week my gore wind stopper soft shell does the business. I’ve had it 3 yrs. washed tons of times. Keeps the north sea blasts at bay. Only issue is wearing a waterproof on top. No breathability ( if that’s how ya spell it

Always been a big camelbak fan, but after a bit of research & feedback from bikers/ walkers I got the osprey rapter 14. Use it daily to commute to work n back 10 mile , without the hydration pack, which I love the framed design versus the floppy full camelbak style. Plus they even supply the loop to fit camelbak design bladders. Used it on trail weekends/ day trips. Hip pockets are a god send for camera, sat nav, snacks etc.

I wouldn’t put another gortex jacket in the wash with any cleaning products. Had 3 and used all the usual things. Once they’ve been though washing machines there on there way out of being waterproof. Used a damp sponge and live with the odd stain of as said buy a darker colour. I used an old hi vis spesh gillet over the top for work commutes. Other than that it’s all ninja stylie black.

Fabsil looks the business. Will look at that if the nikwax is no good. Might even give me old tin of Barbour wax a light spread. Works on me old shimano mw80 gortex boots.

The reason for waterproof trousers is riding 10 mile to graft in the pi$$ing rain then doing a 8-12hr shift.Soggy unders isn’t great way to spend ya day or night. There not to ponce around a trail centre or even a full day in the flooded Lake District.

Used invisiframe , spot on though a bit time consuming to do it right. £50 a believe to have it fitted. Worth the dollar though.

I use butterworth insurance. Spot on cover for everything , theft , damage etc. my five came of the back of the car. Didn’t even know it was gone till I was nearly home. Paided out in full straight away. No hassle.

Can’t comment on the mavic’s mate , but the flows are great. I’ve smashed mine down some really rocky trails in the lakes and they stand up well.

Not long bought me second orange, had a 5 for a few years now using an alpine RS. Totally agree about all the weight malarkey. Makes no difference 2ibs. I’ve ridden all the main brands over the years and more than happy with the crane. Each to there own kids. Did like the dig at strava though. Made me chuckle.
