If you know the account number it was paid into you could make a series of deposits in 1p and 2p amounts to send a message by morse code perhaps?

The good thing about GT85 is that after a few re-fits it errodes the rubber into a super-sticky compound. Though I use lock-ons as it does less damage to the bars getting the grips off again.

I dont' read it very often as I'm normally too busy to get to a shop or have time to read, but I did pick up this months. I was a bit disappointed too, I thought the 29er article was dull, mostly because I'm nto interested and the bikes weren't really comparable. The two hardtails they compared weren't comparable either, so I didn't find that article all that relevant. On top of that I've no interest in reading about bike racks or rock climbing.

Now I don't have any problem with any of those articles being in the mag at one time or another, but to put them all in at the same time meant there wasn't room for much stuff that I was interested in.

ahwiles, there's no evidence of any sarcasm in your post, just posting something that's a bit ridiculous doesn't count! People say stupid stuff on the internet everyday!

Tinsy, can you sort out a link to the right bearings no ebay please?

Do grease ports not just fill with grit and become useless?

    £500 for 7 year old forks???? I got a 4 year old frame + 888s for £400 last year……

The thing is that when you disasemble it it is virtually impossible to do without damaging the black plastic seal that you can see on the outside. But if it's biffed anyway, you don't have much to lose. Apart from that, you can bash the bearings out no problems, but you don't gain anything unless you've got new bearings to put in. And probably a new plastic cover.

Lighter? Really? My Magura ones are anything but lighter!

My Magura floaters have a huge flange on the rotor, they're much stiffer I think than the standard items.

I've got a choice of forks for my Carbon 456, when it arrives, of RS Lyrik U-Turn (160 to 115mm) or Magura Laurin 130s. Not sure which to put on as while the Lyriks might be overkill at 160, I can wind them down too.

    Tough call.

Alpin, I've just bought a light spring for mine, so I've got the red spring available as soon as it arrives. I could only find the springs for just over £50 in the UK and bought my light spring via ebay in the US for £35, but couldn't find any other springs that way.

If you're interested, it's been used for 100-200 miles total, I bought them then put my 888s back on after realising I needed a lighter spring.

    Cheers

I wa sup at Lee a couple of weeks ago, I thought it would be awesome to run some sort of access trail or northshore onto that shelf at the top of the quarry, then put loads of northshore up on there. You know where I mean?

Clearly people have as they've sold out of Small and Large frames, I've ordered a Medium.

Anyone done Easdale Gill from Greenup Edge?, thne back up easdale Tarn towards High Raise?

    paulrockliffe

Ok cheers. We're going to do that loop as in my first post, but will aim to push up onto some other summits along the way, then ride back to the loop, so could potentially try Aaron Slack (cool name) onto Green Gable. And then on the way back a cheeky little trip up onto High Raise and The Langdale Pikes before carrying on to Rossett Gill.

Ok, is it worth heading onto Great Gable anyone know?

1998 Trek OCLV 9900 Team Issue; Dark purple from one side, bright yellow from the other. Mine is going on ebay next week, absolute classic!

Is that possible though? Isn't the chain too narrow for 9 speed chain rings, so you'd be reliant on what other cogs Shimano make available in the first instance.

Right at Stake Pass then down Rossett Gill?

    paulrockliffe

Right, yes I see! Sorry, which way round do you think I was going? Am I not going up Rossett and then down Stakes Gill? Just plotted it on the map and was thinking more = better!

OK, you were agreeing with my first option. Cool.

LOL! Which is it, I gave you three options? Going to check the map again to see if I can work out what you mean……

There wasn't a firm spring I'm afraid, anywhere on ebay, just some chap in America with 8 light springs.

I wouldn't have bought a 140mm bike if I already had a perfectly good 120mm bike, for exactly the reasons you're experiencing; they're not all that different. I'd want a DH bike, a long travel hard-tail, then I'd probably ditch the 120mm and get a 100mm and a 140mm bike, in that order, if I was expanding my bike collection.

Doesn't matter, found one on ebay, all sorted.

TF Tuned £51, Jenson USA £24. by the time I've paid tax and postage, are jenson still cheaper?

Step away from the Lyriks Peachey!

I'm 66kg, so looks like I was right about needing to drop a spring size.

    Next; where cheap?

What about my questions though? I need to know what the stock spring is so I can then go one lower?

You'll never get those forks Peachey!

Cool, I've been telling my housemate that all night, but was only 90% sure there wasn't a route off. What about the Corridor descent? I ran down that in a race once and was surfing a wave of rock most of the way down!

I'm taking a DH bike BTW, looking for a good climb followed by good descents starting from Langdale, so any of the hills around Scafell Pike are options if anyone can recommend anything?

    Cheers

I had my road bike smuggled into Sellafield and welded when a bonded joint failed. It has been perfect for 6 years now, apart from a faint green glow…..

Why? Press fit isn't a problem with headsets and direct mount has been around for years too. What's not to like?

    Ditto.

    JSOM?

Also, there's a purple line on my screen from ny current location going off the screen, presumably heading somewhere. Without trying to find my manual; what's that supposed to tell me?
