Is it reporting a crime or reporting an accident?

I'm pretty sure this is Law and TJ hasn't just quoted it from other internet forums.

To the OP; the driver has the option of passing your claim on to his insurers. I understand that people make mistakes, but when you're in control of 2 tons of metal, that doesn't wash. Either you can drive your car without hitting other road users, or you shouldn't have a license.

I like the look of the new Cannondale Jekyl and Claymore bikes as one bike to rule them all type things, awaiting reviews……

There are pictures of broken aluminium bars on an almost identical thread to this one from a few months ago.

This thread nearly got me in all kinds of trouble today, planned a route around Kentmere and saw Shipman Knotts. As I recognised the word 'Shipman' I figured I must have heard someone say it was a good ride, so put it in the route.

It was only when pushing up onto Harter Fell that I started hearing 'Shipman Extreme!' in my head and wondered what the **** I was doing!

I'm pretty sure I would have died on Shipman Knotts.

    Cheers!

Have you reset the limit screws? If not, wind them all the way out and see where that leaves you.

Leave them for dead, they've earned it.

I have a Hope hub exactly as Peachos describes. It is fecked. Damn bearings!

DO NOT GET AN AZONIC ONE. In case you were thinking about it. Mine lasted two rides before it developed play, took it out once the play started to get noticeable when riding and the whole things was in bits, the 'sealed' unit was in it's 5 component pieces. Absolute rubbish! Their chainrings are equally crap, but the cranks are good.

I've fitted an NS-17 thing, but not ridden it yet, I'm hoping the Germans have this all under control.

There wasn't a sign, but then I don't know if it was beef or dairy. How do you milk a bull by the way? Don't answer that.

I guess as I'm sat here typing it was a safe bull.

I suspect that there is no specific requirements relating to what the Land owner can do on his land, but that the access rights create a duty of care. He would be responsible for any injuries caused by the dog, whether being scared etc would come under that I don't know, but I suspect it may well do.

It's a question that I asked myself when in the Peaks on Tuesday evening upon being confronted by a pretty big bull on the Bridleway!

The batteries are pretty poorly sealed though, but nothing a bit of insulation tape doesn't sort.

Just looks like a Bastid with a different housing.

So Mark's boss saw the thread then. Result.

Or Mark took one of the offending items from the warehouse and tried to fit it to some bars and realised what an arse he was?

    Either way. Result.

I've got some spokey dokeys to compliment the rear hub.

Also, got some Element Technium hubs, which seem to piss on Hope from a great height when it comes to noise.

Not sure about packing them with grease, sound like if it'll quieten the hub it'll be because it slows the pawl return movement down, which will give slower engagement and general gashness. If you like ti quiet you could try…….. pedalling perhaps?

I don't want to be an arse, but can we make sure we're typing Hope II as in Hope Pro 2 rather than Hope 11? Thanks.

Afrade to say, bridleway just means that you are "permitted" to take a bike/horse there. No requirement that you actually can!

Which is a good thing! Think of all the Bridleways that would have to be sanitised so your next door neighbour, his fat wife and the 3 kids can all use it.

I found some DMR forks and some Fire Eye ones (that look like rebranded DMR?) but they're DJ forks, but I don't want heavy and stiff.

Ok, but given that I went over the bars doing sometihng similar on Stoodley Pike, which isn't even steep, I can't help thinking it will end badly for me. I'll need Bombers.

I'm taking Thursday/Friday off the week after next to go riding in the Lakes if you fancy it Peachos?

Cat Bells ridge is good, not done it in years, there was a bit on there I couldn't ride, would be good to go back to use it as a measure of progression, I suspect I can ride it now. Just got to watch out for walkers. It's not as good as the short blast down the front of Barrow though.

Why do you want guards anyway? You're not going to ride at a rate so slow you don't have to change clothes anyway are you?

I live above my office, really miss my commute to work :-(

Surely that's just a 'look at me, look at me! different for the sake of being different aren't I cool nichewankfest' bike? no one actually rides them, they sit in the garage and make occasioinal forays over to the internet via te medium of .jpeg.

    Horrible horrible things.

Gisburn – Friends have done it, didn't get rated high enough. Howgills aren't exactly on the way home! Think A1(M) M62 please!

    paulrockliffe

Yeah yeah, that's me trying to ride it as slowly as possible so I could manage the 90 left at the cliff. The run off was dead easy, but being able to make the turn isn't as you have to plan your move three corners up and all the corners were tricky to hit. Peachos' route was really just aim at the drop and hope the forks rescue you , you'll want Bombers here.

We went back round Skiddaw House, the intention was to get onto Blencathra but 1) I **** up the route and 2) the going is a total pain in the arse, so we would have been there till very late!

If I was to do it again, my route home would be, back up the way you've come, then off Carlside (?) Looks like some similar sort of techy adventures to be had. Need to go back really.

I have the On-One one, it's really good.

All of Ullock Pike is rideable, that bit you're thinking of has a couple of lines, Peachos has done it righting straight and hoping his Bombers would keep him out of trouble, I've done it keeping the speed off coming in to it so you can make a sharp left and cut across it diagonally, my way was harder because the setup line was much harder to hit. Peachos' way looks harder to the casual observer, ie Peachos.

Why didn't I return it? I'm a man, so I tried to fix it myself. And **** it up.

Smudge, do you have a price including delivery for a replacement battery? Do you do any longer-life batteries for them at all? The battery lasted a couple of hours on full beam, could do with bit longer really, cheers!

Thinking it will make a good head-torch when I buy a proper light, so yeah, probably need an extension lead too.

Smudge batteries; how much? Where from? I've had mine sat doing nothing for 10 months as the battery lasted two rides.

I presume the patent is on something like the ability to link your group's iPhones together in some sort of ad-hoc network, so you can see what others are doing and also the ability to speak to them with some sort of ear piece.

Obviously it will rely on mobile phone signal and be completely useless in the real world for real cyclists, but I suspect that isn't the point.

    All speculation mind.
