chainslap thats a monster truck of a bike, id imagine the tyres negate the need for a fork, but without sounding like a donut how hard is it to get it and keep it moving ?

Hi mate im a trader, ive had a few of these and they are pigs to get rid of they have a bad reputation.
That being said they drive ok but all seem to have had lots of niggles, wheel bearings, engine lights, faulty mirrors and windows, lots of little bits and bobs that you dont want on a 5 year old motor.

just for the record im not weight obsessed, it doesnt have to be mega light just “relatively light”, i know that its never going to be as light as an alli frame or carbon.

i would consider chief’s bike above to be light enough at 26lb.

Just wanted to say thanks for all the posts some very helpful
Still no sign if my bikes as you would probably expect.
Not all bad news though my insurance company have replaced my bikes with no fuss at all, so while I’m still angry that it happened, I have shiny new bikes.

The insurers were sainsburys who have been brilliant(just incase anyone wants good no hassle bike cover).

    Anyway thanks again.

This happened to me recently, purchased a bike recently in good faith did all my usual checks (frame number, searched forums etc) nothing came up.

Sold on eBay, police come to door with a description of a stolen bike that matches this one, the officer had a list of specifics about the bike ,ie the brand of The aftermarket pedals that had been fitted but no frame number or in fact anything that could not have been picked up from the pictures on my add.

The officer was pretty good really, I had kept the advert from where I had purchased the bike which he was happy with,no mention of handling stolen goods as could prove that the bike was purchased in good faith.
I was told to keep hold of bike while the investigation continues at the end of all this it becomes a civil matter between myself and original owner as to who owns the bike, of course I am more than happy to return the bike to original owner, as getting your bike stolen is the worst feeling as I found out for the second time last week when my shed was broken into again.

ok canal dredger on order, 😀

makes you feek sick that hundreds of pounds worth of frames could be rusting in the cut.

cant help wondering what happens to all the bikes that are pinched?

i know they are probably stripped and sold that way but next to none of our stolen bikes or parts are ever recovered.

is there a shed somewhere with 1000’s of stolen frames in? or are they somehow sold abroad?

im sure no one really has the answers to these questions but would sure like to know.

Thanks for the responses guys,I’m unsure to be honest Davey boy how they knew they were in there, makes you feel slightly paranoid!!!

Someone above mentioned that thieves sometimes return so I’m thinking it’s something along those lines.

No Windows in shed so they couldn’t have known what level of locks and security I had.

Worrying to think that there’s scum bags wandering about my place of residence with crow bars and cutting gear.

Good calls, hadn’t given much thought to a shed alarm, I’ll look into this for the future, although I won’t be keeping my prized possession in the shed from now on

While we are on the subject, what do you guys use to secure your bikes is there a really secure method to keep your bike safe?

How far do you really need to go?
