Mine came this morning. Nice feeling material, very light, quite a tight fit with plenty of length in the arms. Quality seems pretty good too. I’m no seamstress but some of the stitching inside is a bit scruffy if you go looking for it.

I’ll give it a try on the commute home and seeing as Cardiff is almost tropical today it will be a good test of breathability!

I had a Hot Shot and it still looks cool, even 20 years on. My parents never throw anything away so it’s bound to be in their loft.

I’ve got a pair of the pro bib shorts from when they were in the sale last year.

Size-wise the guide seems about right – I’m 5’8″, 30″ waist (when bloated!) and the small size fits well, maybe a little short in the shoulder straps. I’d probably go up a size if I was inbetween but maybe give them a call and ask.

Comfort is good, no problems at all and they’ve worn well, Although I use them mostly for my commute under baggies.

Float has it, looks like a faulty power button!

A bit of Internet research showed that it could be started without the power button by removing the keyboard and shorting across a couple of bits on the mother board. Well if that didn’t go and start it up as normal, so I just need to order a new keyboard to get it 100% again.

Only one small but profusely bleeding cut on a finger too so this has been my most successful IT repair to date!

Ah poop. Sounds like more than a £30 repair then.

I’ve tried powering up with and without the battery and mains charger but still get the same result.

Is there any way to test for a broken power button?

No power at all, completely dead, nothing at all happens when I press the power button. The magsafe charger shows a green light to signal a fully charged battery (which it should be) but no signs of life otherwise.

Thanks all. It was working fine a couple of hours before with no error messages at all. When the previous stick went it gave 3 beeps until I’d removed it. I’ll get some more RAM to test, hopefully that’ll be it!

Thanks for the suggestions everyone. Seems to be a lot of love for the Buff so I’ve just ordered one and if that doesn’t do the job then I’ll give the Halo band a go.

Yowzer twinklydave, that is something else. The Halo look promising, I might give a buff a go too.

I can’t pull off headwear at the best of time so something that looks like a condom ring is asking for trouble.

I give it a shake and if I can hear sloshing like when sealing it initially then it’s probably ok, if not then stick some more in.

I can sometimes hear a ball of dried up stuff rattling around in the tyre when you give the wheel a spin so then I lift a bit of the tyre off and take that out. I don’t think I’ve ever cleaned the old latex off the inside of a tyre except when swapping tyres around anyway.

Not a franken-bike but a Trek Top Fuel 69er, bit of a crap picture I’m afraid. Bought from the classifieds, powder coated and built up into my favourite bike.

A Tale of Two Sisters. But you won’t understand the ending, utterly mental.

Was there a finer bluesman than Freddie King?

    Pretty much one long solo

Solo from 2 minutes-ish. Sorry, no video.

Some great stuff here, I’d have gone for that live version of Sultans of Swing too but this is probably my favourite cover version. Not a blistering solo (from about 1:47) by any means but great phrasing and I love the guitar tone.

Nice, looks really good. The Charge brown bar tape is pretty good, if not too close a match for the saddle, and Condor Strada is good value for silver bars and stems.

Yep, Joystick and single cell piggyback battery on the helmet gets all the way through the night.

Anyone use a Hope Vision R4 on the bars?

Yeah, I was camped a few tents down from the 4th guys at 24/12.

Exposure seems popular as I expected but I quite fancy Trout’s Spider-eyes thing too.

I’m in solo! There wasn’t an option to enter no sub category so I’m mixing it with the old-folks.

Meddle probably edges Dark Side for me but the live recording side of Ummagumma is up there too. The rest of that album is pap though.

Superstar Switch Evo? They’re way quieter than my Hope hubs and (although I haven’t had them that long) reliability seems good from the research I did before buying mine. Look easily serviceable too.

I used the Hope mix and match (like from Merlin), can’t remember the specific cup references but the guide on the Hope site was easy to follow. Not sure if the do any colour other than black though.

damn Paulio, that’s almost exactly how i was planning to build the green scandal. white/green/brown def. works. real leather saddle and grips?

Maybe a Brooks set up one day but Charge and ESI for the moment! All bolted together now, just the final tweak to saddle, bars and brakes and the addition of mudguards to go. I’m pretty pleased with how it’s turned out, I just hope it rides as well.

Thanks mrblobby. I’m normally an any colour as long as it’s black person but figured there would be enough black elsewhere so white rims wouldn’t be too jarring. They’re the Superstars Stans deal and the build seems pretty good on them. Hope I haven’t jinxed myself with that statement!

Not sure if this counts but it was an impulse buy at the end of November when the Scandal frames went down to £149. I’ll finish it off tonight ready for a weekend of riding at Afan.

Good stuff, that’s the one I was favouring so good to know someone has used it. Thanks very much Jamie.

A Tale of Two Sisters. Great film with a totally bonkers last 20 minutes that I still don’t think I understand.

Basking shark attack? Jaws wouldn’t have been quite the same.

I’d still have reacted a bit more strongly if my mates had done that!

I used an ass-saver which was better than nothing but not great. I sold my dropper before finding something better.

I’ve been and would echo what nickb says. I’ve probably enjoyed cheaper meals as much but for me it is about the whole experience along with unique, delicious food. Think of it more as a day out than a meal but you certainly won’t be hungry afterwards. It was a lot of money and would have been way more if we’d have had wine but I’m glad to have done it

I’ve sent a bike in the last few days with http://www.totalparcels.com/%5B/url%5D

£20ish with £750 insurance, collected on time and delivered next day by City Link.

Guesstimate. It’s one or the other.

Someone I work with will ‘save down’ something when she means to save an electronic file. I’m not sure if it’s the correct phrase to use but it annoys me almost as much as guesstimate.

I had one as my only bike for a while with U-Turn Revs that suited it well. 140mm was a bit wandery on climbs so I’d adjust it up and down as necessary. Really stable and comfortable, I got mine to about 10kg with Stans/Hope wheels, Hope X2 brakes and 1×9 X0 and E13 drivetrain despite a Reverb.

stanleigh – Thanks for the info, probably will be SS but I’m going for a suspension fork this time I think. I’ve had some Nukeproof carbons which were great, Orange F8s are pretty good too.

I need to look through my spares box before buying bits for this, I think I’ve got some tensioners in there amongst other bits. I quite fancy building my own wheels for the first time though!

I’ve emailed On-One to ask them, if not then hopefully they’re available to buy but I can’t find them on the website. I quite fancy a single speed to use over the next few months.

Thanks guys, V2 29er in green ordered. Shame the raw is £209 but it does seem really good value at £149 and will give me a little project over the winter.

Quick supplementary question – does it come with both types of swap-outs or just the vertical?

I’m in Barry and have those tools and a stand, drop me an email to the address in my profile if you want. You may be better off buying your own as you’ll almost certainly use them again and they are pretty cheap. Except maybe the headset tool.
