Good site to cost out a potential build…

Yeah I can’t really see this being a viable product for a UK bike manufacturer.

Frames are generally not the expense.. its the wide rims.. rear hubs (if not offset frame)… Tyres etc..

Think the Mukluk represents very good value for money.

What would you have Brant offer in a frame that you can’t already buy from the number of other fat bike frame manufacturers ??

Why do you need specific cross disc rims ?? been racing/riding DT470 (??) 29er rims on my tripster… also had a set of ebay special carbon deep’s built for tub’s.

..best pic I can find of it.

Don’t think HTN had more running than riding…

Its CX vs Mtb as they both have their own strengths and thats what makes it such a fantastic event :)

As a CX rider at HTN I just opted for the fastest route round the course…

This meant running some of the descents and riding the rock garden.. even though I could feel my carbon rims bottoming out through it :(

Rorschach, was it a VC Moulin rider you made the non racing packed with?? if so it was me :) Very gentlemanly of you although soon as you said that my body gave in to hunger and I had to limp out the last lap.. I totally forgot to eat and drink during the race as there was always someone to chase

Was an awesome event… Well done all involved.. well worth my round trip from Newcastle and a permanent fixture in my diary for every year you are kind enough to organise it :)

Okay.. from what I understood they only run the 430 mile race every other year so I guess 2009 was a full 430 then.

    Recognise his name.

Lol .. no worries.. it was over quickly and spiced by some willy waving about who had the best ‘Enduro’ races. the UK or Europe :)

Get your entry in for BM3D :)

DoctorRad, if you can get an entry to Transprovence I can’t recommend it highly enough..

    paul78

Think the BM3D falls well into the marathon category.. not ‘Enduro’ … hope we don’t have to have the Enduro classification debate again :(

..but yeah the BM3D will be awesome… challenging for sure.

    +1 for Transprovence…

Even as an XC racer at heart I really enjoyed the first edition of this race.. the riding was just superb even if I did mince alot fo the tech stuff :)

We are not pigeon holing riding we are just asking for a more uniform means of organisers naming their events so people can pick out more easily what they prefer to ride.

I can see how its really confusing for newer riders looking for an event to try thinking they have entered a series of timed descents but instead having to ride around a forest for 24 hours :)

I think the point Juan is making is that in Europe an Enduro is a lengthy predominantly downhill race… In the UK the term Enduro has traditionally applied to ‘riding around muddy fields’ endurance xc racing… although agreed not all our courses are mudd fields BUT some very much are.

Maybe with more European style Enduro downhill races happening here organisers will start using Marathon for XC and Enduro for Downhill.

Bought an 04 plate vivaro :)

.. £5000 cheaper than the 04 plate VW T5 I bought a month ago that broke down after 60 miles.

Its a bargain… in soon as possible for rear windows and carpeting.

Will be a treat at HTN this weekend to get changed in comfort:)

Should also add that I am not interested in 1.9 or 2.4 straight diesel.. too slow/thirsty.

I want a T4.. I did buy a T5 a few weeks back which lasted 60 miles before breaking down.. I now don’t want to finance a van so going to buy with cash.

I have seen alot of vans between £3000-£3500 but they go quickly… I agree that they are generally expensive but this is the time of year to buy.. a few months on and they will be seeing price rises.

I constantly check T4forum, ebay, autotrader, Brickyard etc .. just wondered if anyone knew of one coming up for sale or local.

Would consider a trafic/vivaro but realistically they are £4000 plus.

I have cash in the house waiting so lack of vans is driving me mad

    HoratioHufnagel , i’m 5′ 11″ .. usually ride a 56cm top tube on a road bike.

Ordered and had built a 57cm Tripster and it was huge!! 54cm just feels a little tight but awesome for cross racing.

    paul78

Only issue I have with my Tripster is the sizing…

… I think I am somewhere between their 54cm and 57cm but settled on the 54cm.. not ridden it much beyond a cross race distance but think for all day rides it would probably cripple me.

Start trawling ebay now as people start selling off their race bikes fromt his years cross season

    paul78

On the specialized fron then the Crux is the more race orientated CX bike now… should be able to pick up some good deals on it too..

I was considering doing this myself as I want a very expensive race CX bike but if I could use it for road racing too on a spare set of wheels then its easier to swallow.

Gearing might be a little low on the road.. but a swap of chainrings and tyres isn’t gonna be the biggest hassle.

new 10spd 105 cassettes have chewed the crap out of my Hope Pro II free hub bodies on every set I have :(

Even if it is just cosmetic its not nice.

Can see them being very condition dependent..

I switched mid cross season from clinchers to tubulars on my cross bike and the difference in greasy muddy conditions is night and day.. the tubulars are alot more supple and can run at crazy low pressures so grip is brilliant especially off camber.

When its dry and you are running more pressure then I can imagine there being little or no difference from using a normal clincher.

Everyone seems to overlook the Kinesis Tripster.

I’m having a fairly decent cross season racing one so weight is not an issue but its also a very versatile bike with rack mounts and bottle bosses.

Ridley… Competitive cyclist were selling some off cheap.

Is it for racing?? although season is nearly over so if you aren’t planning to race then wait a month and alot will be getting sold off when racing finishes
