Plenty to look at in that forum.. a few Uk users too. In rpocess of trying to build a fat bike but can't use a pugsley frame due to conflicting interests.

Hmm.. next week looks to be a rude awakening for me.. used to racing endurance so miles of tech singletrack are gonna take their toll..

been advised to fit suspension for this week of racing but i'm not swaying from the usual singlespeed set up..

Conti Rubber Queens or similar gonna cut it??

Was a great weekend… full of extremes for me.. Saturday i rode in rain spinning my legs off on the singlespeed.. Sunday i rode in glorious sunshine grinding up the climbs..

Everyone i met en route was super friendly… rode most of sportive with the same guy until he turned home after 90 mile cut off leaving me last 30 of 120 mile to do on my own… Merida 85km there was always someone to chat to or catch up..

Excellent weekend.. will definately do a few more

    I'm there..

Just finished 'Sportive'ing my IO for tomorrows 130 then quick change of tyres and gear for sundays 100km..

Feeling very relaxed about the weather as whatever happens it will be no worse than the Salzkammergut Merida i was at a few weeks back.. thunder, lightening, rain and snow.. they had it all:)

SSUK09 was best race ( maybe fairer in general to call it an event) i’ve been too this year… £20 entry… free t shirt, pint glass, evening meal, camping, roller racing, live band, unbelievable course which didn’t have a single complaint, best atmosphere, unbelievable prize list…

Entry fee isn’t directly related to the quality of a race..

And yes if i do it i will be carrying everything i need for the race.. and will definately be trying my best to go at race pace albeit with one gear…

Trev, you must be earning too much cash…

I personally think £50 is alot for an entry fee… a justification of costs would be good.. most racers wont be too interested in drinks and snacks as they will use their own personal preference.. a good course, good timing system and quickly posted results are what i want from any race.

could we look at week starting with Salzkammergut and drive out on the thursday night/friday morning… minibus rental could be an option if numbers grow… Salzkammergut has a number of distance options so something for everyone and then it would be a joint decision on rest of week but as the tour is in the alps would be great chance to check it out

Well if anyone fancies salzkammergut and then the alps style road trip drop me an email and we can look at transport options.. just need someone to share the driving with:)

.. well i have a citroen berlingo if its not sold by then but even if i did sell it then it would be replaced by something equally as bike ready:)

its slow and not pretty but carries load well…

Would be good to get enough people to hire something…

Only drawback i can see is different people wanting to ride different things.. i just wanna take my singlespeed and ride everything:)

I was thinking something similar but hitting europe…

Drive out to do the Salzkammergut trophy race.. then spend the next week mooching through the alps taking in the tour and some big days riding.. pack some slicks and do some classic big climbs/descents…

take own food and tent etc.. ferry is £60 return and fuel cheaper on the continent:)

    Managed 2 hours 34 minutes on singlespeed…

Great day, good atmosphere out on course…

That cobbled first climb came straight from hell… was no easier in car on way home 8O

Is there anyway to check who was riding singlespeed in results??

I was number 125 on singlespeed even though most people confused my Chub rear hub for a Rohloff.. i started to wish it was on those longs climbs..

Amazing course and an amazing day…

    sodandy,

Got one… great bike.. rode a superfly before this so the transition was very strange from an all out race machine to a bike designed for all day riding.

Think definately the best all round bike i have ridden… i plan to make a few changes over spec but this would be personal taste in that i would like some flat bars and slightly longer stem.

Ridden this bike all over the country but i can say that it excels when the descents get very technical.. the stiff fork/wheel combo track straight so its a point and shoot affair and the geometry encourages you to ride in a laid back flowing manor popping off anything you can find.. then when you reach the bottom the ti frame means that there isn’t a great deal of bike weight to get back up top again:)

where you based?? if anywhere near the peaks or manchester give me a shout and you can gladly have a test ride

    Great….

another well organised event and good course… singlespeed was spun out on that long flat bottom section and some of the mud forced a brisk walk but all round a good race..

Someone kindly gave me an energy gel without me prompting and just as i was wishing that i had stuck one in my pocket… if they wanna email me i will return the favour and send them something good:)

Bring on HTN 1.6 or even 2:)
