Oh and how did the driver of the Audi R8 fit their mountain bike in?

That was my son…….remove both wheels/seat post and job done! But it won’t work with a 29er

I thought it was a very good course, you had to concentrate all the time as there were very few long straights. Yes it did cut up and became very rooty in the evening but given the weather that’s not surprising. If it had been dry/dusty it would have been very interesting.
With one exception everyone was fine with overtaking etc.

I did the course – no problem with that and it was interesting.
My whinge relates to the booking process. They offered me morning/afternoon & Dorchester/Bournemouth so I went for morning/Bournemouth but what I got was afternoon/Dorchester!

I live “on-site” so I pre-ride it 3 or 4 times a week but if some sections are reversed I’d rather not meet people coming the other way :-)

Well obviously some people don’t have to wait until Sunday…….

Removed the old BB today and the shell was full of grit/water, it was packed up against the back of the bearings. Given that the Sram external seals look like an ok design I think the real issue is water ingress thru the internal cable runs. Drive side was seized solid.
The Hope replacement uses a screw in centre tube that should solve that issue.

The Hope special tool is £40 but I used the usual stud/washers to insert the cups and a 30mm across flats bolt to screw in the centre tube.

Hope can be found for £70 at the moment but the special tool could be an issue however I have a cunning plan….I’ll post on here after the weekend if it works.

Or is water getting into the shell via the frame?

I’ve ridden mine about a dozen times and as far as I can remember never in the rain although on the last event it did get covered in heavy mud. When I tried to use it last week the BB was solid and I couldn’t turn the crank. So this weekend there will be a Hope going in as a replacement.
I can’t understand why they fail (I haven’t removed the original Sram item yet), are the seals that poor?

My Vectra SRI 1.9CDTI has covered 150k and only had 2 EGV’s, one set of glow plugs and a complete wiper assembly. The 1.9 is actually an Alfa JTD variant. They are not the most exciting of cars but they are very good at doing what they are designed for – which is covering long distances for company reps.
I’ ve had 4 of them and they have been (by a long way) the cheapest cars I’ve run……not like another well known make that charges £260 for a tyre valve and got thru 5 of them in 3 years or £700 for a wiper motor.
