I know a couple of people that wanted a Spot but decided not to because Silverfish are the importer. As long at Turner get a phat cheque from Silverfish each month I doubt they'd care that much.

i went to the dutch importer for my 2010 5spot! there is no way on earth i'd ever use silverpish ever again!
    if i had a £ for every time i've herd that…

tried one of these at inter bike a coupler years ago. imo it would be awkward to use off road, shit, it was awkward to use in the demo area!

i'm going riding now. i will say hello to the dog walkers, horse riders, walkers, bikers and i will have a loverly day
If someone gets in your way, don't punch them

quick lap of the local woods and managed not to piss anyone off or have to punch anyone :D
although i nearly run over a squirrel! i stopped and apologized and he was cool and we both went on our way.

would you behave like that walking down the street?
What, like walking two abreast on the pavement? Of course, it's perfectly normal and easier for chatting. Then when someone approaches who wants to pass, you let them do so. They weren't blocking the trail, they were riding.

funny, i know a couple of riders who are nutters, who would enjoy jumping all over people acting either way on the trail!
    Care in the community types?

how many time has a lorry over taken another lorry going 1 mph faster on a duel carriage way in front of you? or 3 women walking along a path oblivious to you, as you walk towards them? or people stopped in the middle of the trail? just examples of the **** you i'm all right attitude that so prevalent in the uk today!

    i don't see any difference!
as i said i think both parties need to think about their actions and maybe be a little more considerate of other trail users!

as for the nutters, i've never herd of them punching anyone who didn't deserve it! a group of 8 lads throwing stones at them and not being smart enough to run when they went after them, a moto x rider going back and forth deliberately spraying them with the roost, poachers digging at their trails who didn't under stand the words **** off….

not everyone will put up with **** s, and why should they?

i think the both parties involved were wrong! treating trails like YOU own them blocking a trail or shouting at other users, just shows no respect for each other. i think everyone involved needs to think about their actions!

funny, i know a couple of riders who are nutters, who would enjoy jumping all over people acting either way on the trail! be careful out there!

less travel, should be ok, but more travel (depending what bike) you run the risk of swing arm/linkage/frame clashing.

making lots of noise and moving toward a already aggressive dog isn't a good idea, much more likely to go into fight mode (rather than flight) much better to calmly stand your ground. giving it time to think is a good thing!
because when it's attacking you it's not thinking! it should soon realize your not prey/threat and **** off back to its owner.

i still get annoyed when dogs try to bite me to!

how long does it take to grab a water bottle from a cage on your frame? a quick draw holster if you like :D

if you feel threatened by a dog, then by all means kick it 'till it **** off. or it eats you!

best defense is to stand behind your bike and stand your ground. not all dogs will back off when kicked!

A quick squirt in the dogs face with some water from a bottle works wonders. They get such a shock i can keep pedaling and nothing gets hurt me or the dog

    a very good tip!

i stopped to let a dog walker past on wednesday. the dog snarled at me as it went passed the owner just laughed. i rode off and the dog came after me heckles up, teeth out! i was watching the dog while trying to stop so i could get the bike between me and coujo. front wheel washed out and dumps me on my arse… (funny now)
i'm afraid to say i lost it! dog ran back to owner with me after the pair of them screaming. you **** **** keep
your **** **** of a dog on a **** lead if you can't control it ****. i'm glad the guy was a fare way off, and grabbed his dog and walked away, before i was half way there and the mist cleared.
i don't know why it got to me this bad, it's not like it's the first time! embarrassed with myself…

fwiw, i've always been a dog owner. to many people have dogs without having a clue on how to socialize and train them. if your dog doesn't come back when you call it (you suck at being a dog owner) keep it on a lead!

a longer stem will slow the steering down, not speed it up! think dh bike.

    @hora

try attacking the corner, centered, knees and arms bent, looking for the exit of the turn.

the ha of the 5spot with the revelation is 68.5, do you consider this steep for a trail bike?
On paper and visually yes but no offence intended I am just investigating several 5"ish frames with a view to building up a new bike and wanted some real world feedback on the ride. Have to travel a long way round here to get a demo bike to ride.

When you say "Trail Bike" what does that mean?

no offense taken, sorry if it came across that way.

i also did a lot of research on 5'ish bikes. i was looking for 68 ha 13.5 bb. the spot is .5 out on the ha and .2 on the bb. my last bike (canfield balance) had a 66 ha 13.5 bb. so to be honest the first time down the steep shoot on the spot i was pouting a bit :D but i came out smiling. this may have a lot to do with the fork also, as it doesn't dive through its travel. i was very happy at speed (not gone that fast since last summer) didn't feel twitchy at all.

trail bike: something that can be ridden up, down, under, over or through anything. well nearly, i have ridden
rock garden on a downhill bike that made me more than pout! 8O

    @fd

i've done a coupler short steep rooty roll ins and guessing 30 mph down a horse pock marked double track, the 5spot never felt out of its depth. the 5spot and rev holds a line better than my canfield balance and 36 did.
fwiw my 98 santa cruz super 8 had a 68 ha

    3 no grant

good luck with your build. there's not many bikes i've ridden that have felt comfortable from the off, but the turner is one of them.

Second what the **** is with that decking? what do you use it for? Do you have to seal it every year? How long does that take? Shockface

thats not all the decking!

needs sealing every other year, don't know how long it takes as we only did it this winter.

as for what we use it for? everything when the suns out, not loads when its pissing

wow what a difference a new frame and fork make. i spent the day hitting the worst lines i could find.
i expected the rear suspension to work really well and it does, up and down. the revelation is a great fork and surprisingly stiff. a very good match for the 5spot. the bike hold its line so well through the ruff stuff.

yes i live in the shed :-)

considered the yeti 5, but i'd be scarred to take it to the alps/catskills.
