    You’re being groomed.

If NBT/Bunnyhop invite you to their house, don’t go – it’s a trap.

I’m not entirely sure about this, so apologies and comment withdrawn if not the case, but is this thread about the same bloke who threatened HTN organisers over his entry to the race last Feb? Words to the effect of – I’m going to come up there and physically attack you.

I’m sure he’s very nice over a pint though.

    🙄

I can state, without fear of contradiction, that witches do not like turnips when said vegetable is used as a projectile.

I knew a witch who only liked turnips that had been thrown and even then, just during the flight. Once they landed and became a foodstuff she wan’t interested.

    ROSPA

Still light here in bonny scotlandshire and we’ll keep it that way thanks.

Separate time zone north of the border maybe???

Keeping the clocks on BST would save ~ 120 lives each year according to ROSPA as more accidents happen in the evening than the morning.

Energy consupmtion would reduces due to more light in evening (not balanced by more light in morning during GMT)

Burden on NHS reduced as more people are inclined to exercise due to lighter evenings.

There was supposed to be a debate in parlaiment on this subject about a year ago, but it got blocked by 2 tory MPs. The proposal was for GMT+1 in winter and GMT+2 in summer, which is going a bit far IMHO.

I really do hate the clocks going back. Staying on British Summer time would cost nothing and improve quality of life for the majority.

I’m moderately fit and my best time is about 4mins 25 seconds on strava giving it some but 2 mins 15 seconds??? WTF.

Having watched this event today, I was left wondering how much good it does the riders to push that hard.

One of my regrets in life is not going to see the White Stripes at Blackpool Empress Ballroom a few years ago. However, I’m hoping to partially rectify this by seeing Jack White at that venue in November.

I’ve always had my suspicions about that Benny Hill fellow – he seemed a bit touchy-feely!

I have seen actual video evidence of him pursuing large numbers of young females who appeared not to have consented and to be doing their very best to escape from him through fields, towns, shops etc

It wasn’t just Jimmy Savile, there are a number of currently popular celebrities who were know for groping staff/guests and continued to do so until very recently.

Nice idea but they are cotton and so casual gear made to look like cycling kit, not doing either well

There is so much money involved and legal/business ties between lance/livestrong and the sponsors, it renders these statements about dropping him fairly meaningless. They need to be seen to be doing something. By the sounds of it, most of them where complicit in the doping regime by exerting financial and political pressure to protect their biggest star.

As for Lance stepping down from being chairman of the Lance PR campaign (or his ‘cancer shield’ as it’s been called) that is Livestrong, he’s still on the board and I’m sure it will continue to function in exactly the same way.

I hope to see the heat turn firmly onto the UCI and McQuaid/Verbruggen in the next week or so.

    +1 for skills day.

I got a Great Rock voucher for christmas last year and was very pleased indeed with that as a gift and the resulting coaching.

For some reason I seem to be quite popular on Twitter with high profile sailors and the sailing community in general.

I’ve never been sailing nor met any of them in public toilets.

you would prob be better negotiating club discounts with on line retailers who are already quite cheap.

not a cheap example, but i seem to remember somewhere seeing that howies do discount for groups.

Please note, my above comments are based on using various RA for the past 10-15 years. I use them now and will continue to do so.

Def a good idea to use them over applying for advertised positions, just be aware of the game being played. No offense meant on my part. X

other things to remember about (some, not all) recruitment agents that they won’t want you to know are:

    – if you are looking for a new job, don’t go back to the agent who found you the existing position or they’ll (in many cases) be straight on the phone to your current boss to tell them you are thinking of leaving.

    – You may agree a rate with the agent, who may then lie to the employer that you are on a higher rate, pocketing the difference as well the commission.

Just remember they are prob more interested in filling the job you are leaving than finding you a new job. The references they may ask for are just a way of getting contact details of your boss who may well be looking to replace you.

also remember that it is the employers who pay the bills, so the agents will look after them more than you.

finally, remember recruitment agents are rats, even the nice one.

I have 2 pairs of DHB shorts.

The regular summer bibs are their top model, but I prefer my endura.

However, the DHB thermal 3/4s are excellent. I’ve worn them on long mtb/road rides and can’t fault them in any way. You don’t notice them, which I think is always a good test. Just work well and are comfortable.

My ideal job would be pestering dull people who don’t want to speak to you about where they are up to with things, then typing it all into a spreadsheet and sending to other people who won’t look at it, interspersed with sitting in meetings of no interest or relevance. Half the projects would be shelved after 6-12 months and those that weren’t, you would never actually see any results.

Sort of like a [waste of time] squared, but getting paid for it.

And I think the UCI is so heavily implicated/involved with the doping scenario that to not go through radical change will not change anything.

    This ^^

The UCI appear to me like the Vatican – more interested in maintaining power and influence that doing what is morally correct.

UCI is not fit for purpose at the moment.

Dave Millar would be good there, he’s an excellent advocate for a clean sport.

Apparently, all drugs are evil and you’ll be on smack eventually in the contast quest for greater highs.

But it’s aboslutely fine to come to work stinking of booze on a monday morning and include consumption of alcohol in most social situations, including those where children are present. It isn’t really addictive and the only people who have problems with drinking are those who have got to the level of vodka on cornflakes for breakfast.
