we drove round france for a month when my daughter was 1, worked well. Few tips…

    1. make sure the a/c is working properly.

    2. Plan driving to coincide with the childs day time sleeping.

    3. Minimise trying to do massive distances in a single day

    4. be sure to comply with the french laws on having a high viz jacket and warning triangle handy.

my mrs has a verso and I love it, it's not that big but very roomy inside, solid build and practical. Good to drive and in 2.2 tdi, both fast enough and economical.

we drove round france for a month in it last year, fuly loaded with a roof box and it never put a foot wrong. As u can tell, I quite like it and couldn't recommend one enough.

the profit on a standard buff must be incredible – 30 cm of unfinished cheap fabric from a factory in china must cost them 2p max, far more spent on marketing and the cardboard face it comes with.

what they do is try and find out where u are leaving from, the name of two refs, your rate and where u have applied to for new jobs (to avoid duplication, obviously)

they have little or no intention of fidning u a job, they just try and fill the one you are leaving from and put other people forward for the ones you've applied for.

yes bunnyhop is right, u could have a nasty slip on that stuff and new hips don't come cheap you know. Best snuggle up in the anderson shelter with a cup of nice oxo and keep an ear open for doodle-bugs with both feet in a giant fleece lined boot.

I do it with the bike upside down, spin wheel fast, slam brakes on and repeat several times

seems to have worked for me for the past 5 years

both. I've seen him live, which is a bit embaressing, but he was brilliant and had the whole MEN bouncing (which is a crap venue usually void of atmosphere)

I switched from Hope to magura loiuse bat on both my bikes.

Simple to set up and use, good control, stop as powerful as anything I've every tried.

On the heckler I have 205mm f and 180 r disks, holy ****, it's like throwing an anchor off the back when u pull them, net result, u ride faster.

the people who drive in this way – how do they survive? I mean, if they drive like that all the time they must have serious crashes now and again?

my mrs was in the car this afternoon with our 2 year old in the back.

Straight narrow road near us, mrs just about to reach passing place when woman in merc screams head on past the passing place right up to the bumper.

In summary, merc driving woman goes bonkers cos my mrs won't reverse 100m back out of the way, hurling abuse inc reversing and screaming right up to bumper again.

I mean, wtf? It can't make even her happy to create such a hostile situation out of nothing can it? The Mrs was a bit shaken by it.

if said employee damaged your car in the same car park would you just let it go? Don't think so somehow.

speaks volumes that you've asked this question in the first place

I've snapped two pinch bolts and got the following recent response from santa cruz UK….

"That seems quite unfortunate. There was a slight issue with some of the original bolts that were fitted having too slim a head on them but we have replacements here with a far thicker head. I'll send two in the post to you. Just pop them in with a medium loctite on the threads and make sure the pivot axle and aforementioned bolts are tightened to the appropriate torque settings and you should have no more problems"

Nice of them to send me new screws straight away, but they are shorter (threaded bit) that the ones I had in and I'm not overly convinced by the explaination.

"have you tried the weed these days – shit is strong man!! – not like it was back in the day!!"

how true this is. I was best man on a stag do recently and 11 of use shared an 1/8 in some soup, not much by my uni standards – everything went horriby wrong and we were all tripping for the rest of the night (which ended about 8.30pm with everyone in bed and the groom very ill).

here is a simple tip u can try that worked on my wotan. If the left hand sticking know has an air valve, take the dust cap off, give it all a bit of a clean, then grease the o-ring around the edge of the dust cap, as grit on this can be enough to stop the knob moving back to it's original position.

Also have a look on the magura forum, which has lots of good advice

Don't go on a biking weekend to glentress and put an 1/8 of pot in some soup between 11 people while watching the tour de france. It is much stronger than it used to be when u were at uni and everyone will be tripping for hours, the groom will go very white and be sick and some people will inexplicably go round the corner and then come back for a bit without good reason.

I was almost knocked over on Cambridge station by either Gilbert or George. They were both there in suits, it was the tall one with specs, he was absolutely pissed and falling all over the place.

how wierd, is the following the correct way to do it?

"paste this into a text file, change the file extension to GPX and open it as normal with any mapping software, but this doesn't work in either Garmin mapsource or tracklogs."

I get an error message saying it's not a valid mapsource file.

lack of action by the ministry of STW is rather lame IMHO

I'm sure they'll tell us it's their site so they can do what they want, but it really smacks of double standards to me

slight hijack here – but how independent is any bike review? Is the fact that specialized bikes never get less than 9/10 connected to the thousands they spend on adverts in every copy of MBUK or MBR?

I know people in the industry who claim to have been threatened with legal action if they give a bad review.

At the end of the day, it's just someones opinion and we all like different things in a bike.

in terms of being paid for the travelling time on top of the expense claim, they would have to negotiate that with the client. I wouldn't suggest charging the actual cycling time, maybe just the equivalent car journey so it doesn't look like a p!ss take.
